Chapter 65.1

Editor: Princess

Five minutes later, they were sitting at the same table, and the thoughtful shop assistant girl brought over two cups of coffee.

“Baby.” Hai Jiaxi said softly.

Shen Ci looked up with a horrified expression, only to discover that Hai Jiaxi’s gaze was focused on the shop assistant. His expression gradually shifted from horror to confusion.

The young girl glanced up at Shen Ci, her face tinged with a faint blush as she shook off Hai Jiaxi’s hand that was tightly holding hers, and pouted coquettishly, “What are you doing?”

Hai Jiaxi smiled and said to Shen Ci, “Xiao Ci, let me introduce you. This is my girlfriend.”

Shen Ci: ???

For a moment, Shen Ci’s face went through a kaleidoscope of emotions before he finally managed to squeeze out a sentence: “…N-nice to meet you, sister-in-law?”

The young girl ran off shyly while Hai Jiaxi patted Shen Ci’s shoulder, laughing heartily. “Since you’re being so cooperative, I’ll spill some more details about Lu Xiao for you.”

The wind chimes jingled as more people entered the store. Shen Ci pulled up his mask and asked quietly, “Sister Jiaxi, how did you recognize me?”

Hai Jiaxi froze: “It’s simple. Your eyes are very distinctive.”

“Oh…” Shen Ci pondered thoughtfully. “Then I’ll wear sunglasses next time.”

“Hey! That’s Shen Ci, right? The hair color and curls look just like him!”

“Wow, that beautiful heart-shaped mole on the ankle is identical! It’s definitely him!”

Several girls shopping in the store suddenly surrounded him, chattering excitedly and asking for autographs. Shen Ci gave them signatures, feeling bewildered.

After the girls left, he lifted his foot to examine it carefully and indeed found a faint small brown spot on his outer ankle.

“…” Were his fans all equipped with microscopes? And how was this tiny thing considered “beautiful”?

Shen Ci couldn’t help muttering, “These days people can recognize you by a mole? What’s the point of wearing sunglasses…”

“When you like someone, you naturally remember and fall in love with all their little details.”

Hai Jiaxi explained with a gentle smile. “For example, my baby has three moles on the back of her neck. The first one looks like a triangle, the second one looks like—”

With a “smack”, Hai Jiaxi was hit on the back of the head with a towel thrown by her girlfriend, abruptly stopping her increasingly creepy fan-like comments.

Shen Ci almost burst out laughing, surprised at how different Sister Jiaxi’s personality was between work and when she was in love.

“How are things going with Lu Xiao?” Hai Jiaxi took a sip of coffee, her face wearing a teasing smile.

Shen Ci hadn’t expected her to suddenly change the subject and stammered, “J-just, you know…”

Hai Jiaxi persisted, “Know what? I heard he’s been openly pursuing you. Have you accepted him?”

The tips of Shen Ci’s ears turned red hot, and his voice was as faint as a mosquito’s buzz: “…Mm, we’re not public yet.”

Hai Jiaxi smiled and reached out to ruffle his hair. “That’s a relief. Back when he wanted to pursue you, he was so timid it drove me crazy.”

“You’re so oblivious, it’s really not easy for you to figure things out.”

Shen Ci gave a sheepish “mm”, not daring to admit that he had mistaken Hai Jiaxi for a rival in love.

Otherwise, he’d either be beaten to death or laughed to death.

The wind chimes jingled again as Wei Shuo and Yang Ning arrived shortly after. Both wearing the same black masks and visibly sulking, they were even fighting over who should enter the door first.

Shen Ci was puzzled: “Did you two eat gunpowder this morning?”

The two folded their arms and snorted coldly. Shen Ci then realized, they were wearing matching outfits, probably some brand’s latest fashion.

This coincidence… should he call it enemies meeting on a narrow path, or minds thinking alike? Shen Ci held his head in his hands.

“With your puny build, you’re wearing Mu Family clothes? On you it looks like a boyfriend shirt!”

“Little milk dogs are very popular, okay? And you’re wearing a tank top! Effeminate flamboyant bottom!”

“Who are you calling names? Do you believe I’ll fuck you until you call me daddy? Dark-skinned shorty!”

“…”

The two childish adults began to hurl personal insults at each other, bickering until everyone’s ears hurt.

Shen Ci rolled his eyes, thinking that if some paparazzi came by and exposed these two immature fools, it would be great! Their cool guy image would completely collapse.

He helplessly started picking out items under Hai Jiaxi’s guidance, and as Hai Jiaxi was very familiar with the things in her girlfriend’s store, she thoughtfully shared dog-care tips.

By the time they had finished shopping, Yang Ning and Wei Shuo were still quarreling. Shen Ci didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. When would this argument ever end?

The script teacher happened to have an emergency that morning, so Shen Ci had stolen half a day off, but he had to return to the company for acting class in the afternoon.

And with time running short, he had to leave early.

However Shen Ci never expected that his casual remark would come true, because he really was photographed by paparazzi at the pet store.

Just as one foot stepped into the Shen residence, Brother Zhang called to say that he was on the hot search.

Shen Ci was bewildered: “Me?”

What did two childish idols quarreling have to do with him?

Brother Zhang remained calm: “Yes, number one trending topic: ‘Shen Ci sweetly shops with female boss.'”

“What?!” Shen Ci’s jaw dropped, nearly dropping his phone.

These gossip media not only missed the point, but they also made things up!

This was terrible. Both Sister Jiaxi and he were in relationships. This would be disastrous for both of them.

Shen Ci was stunned, however his first reaction wasn’t to ask Brother Zhang about PR management, but to immediately hang up and call Lu Xiao.

However, the phone rang for a long time with no answer. Lu Xiao was probably in a meeting, so he could only send him a text message.

This misunderstanding was very serious, he needed to explain in person.

So he quickly put his things down, arranged for lunch to be prepared and sent over, then rushed to Yunxiao Headquarters.

And afraid of being caught and questioned by the media, he didn’t dare use the main entrance. Instead, he went fully disguised like a thief and headed straight to the top floor from the underground parking garage.

Just as he entered the president’s floor, he ran into Special Assistant Min and quickly grabbed him.

“Where’s my little uncle?”

Special Assistant Min’s eyes held a strange reverence: “Hello, Mr. Shen. Mr. Lu is in a meeting with important clients. I’m here to get some documents.”

Without thinking twice, Shen Ci offered: “I’ll help you deliver them!”

Facing the “strong” Shen Ci who had overpowered the president, Assistant Min silently recited “appearances can be deceiving” and nodded in surrender.

“Knock knock knock.”

After knocking on the meeting room door, Shen Ci pushed it open without waiting.

Lu Xiao was speaking to a client with a calm expression, his voice raspy due to the cold. He casually looked up, and when he saw Shen Ci, he froze for a second.

Lu Xiao quickly shifted his gaze away and picked up where he left off, continuing to talk with the client: “At least regarding advertising revenue, we hope to…”

The client felt goosebumps rise: ?

The entire negotiation before had lasted an hour and a half, and throughout, Lu Xiao appeared elegant and tactful but was actually aggressive, constantly maneuvering to change the profit distribution. But suddenly… why had his voice become so gentle?

What happened? Had that stone-faced secretary transformed into a beautiful woman?

The client turned his head curiously, then was stunned the moment he saw Shen Ci: “Shen Ci?”

Shen Ci was caught off guard. Was this an unexpected male fan?

He habitually flashed his brilliant professional smile: “Yes, that’s me. Thank you for your support!”

After speaking, he didn’t forget to do a heart gesture and wink. The client was so shocked his mouth hung open: “…”

Lu Xiao: “…”
