Chapter 64.2

Editor: Princess

Lu Xiao was in the middle of buttoning his shirt, and just as he turned his head, he got tackled onto the bed, causing him to nearly break his waist.

Laughing helplessly, he caught him and slowly shifted to lie on his side.

“What’s wrong?” He rubbed his nose against Shen Ci’s.

Shen Ci huffed. “My dad is so annoying! You’re the only one who treats me well!”

“He just doesn’t know how to express himself.” Lu Xiao said, taking his time to educate him. But Shen Ci let the words go in one ear and out the other, his eyes sparkling as if he were scheming something.

“Little Uncle, I’m in a bad mood.” Shen Ci pouted.

Lu Xiao raised an eyebrow. “En?”

Shen Ci giggled. “So let’s go for a ride!”

Lu Xiao chuckled as he scooped him up effortlessly. “If baby wants to go, then we’ll go.”

Since there were no motorcycles available, and Lu Xiao had been drinking, he ended up pulling out an old, dusty bicycle from the Shen family’s garage.

“I’m riding today!”

Shen Ci insisted on pedaling, leaving Lu Xiao—his tall, grown self—squished onto the back seat, hunched over awkwardly as Shen Ci wobbled and swayed down the road.

Passersby looked at them like they were witnessing some kind of absurd spectacle.

The cool night breeze blew past them as they left the villa district and reached a bridge near the city. But by then, Shen Ci was too exhausted to keep going.

“Little Uncle! You’re way too heavy!”

Lu Xiao chuckled, leisurely parking the bike. “It’s not that I’m heavy—it’s that baby is too weak.”

The view was beautiful, so they decided to stop and enjoy it. Leaning on the bridge railing, they took in the full display of the city’s neon lights shimmering across the lake’s surface.

Tilting his head, Shen Ci pointed toward a direction casually. “That’s where little uncle works.”

Lu Xiao didn’t even look. His eyes just stayed on Shen Ci, his voice deep and gentle in the night breeze. “En.”

“Hmph, you’re just brushing me off.” Shen Ci closed his eyes. “I’m so tired from all that biking… I feel a little sleepy.”

“I’ll call for the dr—”

“Shh—”

Shen Ci suddenly opened his eyes, looking around warily.

Lu Xiao didn’t know what was up, however he followed his lead. And soon, he started to hear faint, whimpering noises coming from somewhere nearby.

Shen Ci, now alert like a little puppy himself, darted back and forth before finally seeing a shoebox tucked in an obscure spot at the base of the bridge.

“Little Uncle!” He waved Lu Xiao over excitedly.

Lu Xiao knelt down and, without a word, gently moved Shen Ci aside before carefully lifting the lid of the shoebox.

Inside, three tiny, newborn puppies were curled up together, their eyes still shut, whining weakly for food.

“We found puppies!” Shen Ci was so thrilled he almost jumped.

The Shen family had never let him have pets, fearing that if something happened to them, he’d be heartbroken beyond repair. So no matter how much he begged and pouted, they never gave in.

But now, with his Little Uncle here, his luck was finally turning!

Beaming with joy, he cradled the shoebox in his arms. The puppies were just plain little mutts, mixed breeds that weren’t particularly good-looking, but to Shen Ci, they were the cutest things ever.

“Little Uncle, I’ll name them Shen Xiaobai, Shen Xiaohei, and… Lu Xiaohua! How’s that?”

Lu Xiao blinked. “Lu Xiaohua?”

Shen Ci looked completely justified. “Of course! We found them together, so they should have your surname too! I’m the dad, and you’re the mom!”

…He was the mom?

Suddenly promoted to “Mother Lu” for three stray puppies, Lu Xiao didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

But then again, if he was the mother and Shen Ci was the father…

Didn’t that make them a couple?

His gaze softened with amusement, his voice warm. “Alright.”

That night, Shen Ci brought the puppies back home and was up all night tending to them—feeding them, making a little nest, and driving the household staff crazy with his excitement.

The next day, he was so sleepy he nearly passed out in class, but his heart was still bursting with joy. The moment school ended, he dashed straight home to check on his babies.

And since they still needed a proper setup, he decided to personally go out and buy everything they needed.

To make sure he picked the right stuff, he called up Wei Shuo and the ever-experienced Yang Ning, arranging to meet them in the city.

When he arrived, he got out of the car in a secluded alley, then adjusted his mask while waiting for them. However after a few minutes, his curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to check out one of the pet stores he had researched in advance.

Ding-ling-ling—

The door opened with a chime, and a friendly employee greeted him warmly.

Shen Ci glanced around, only to see an unexpected yet strikingly familiar figure.

A beautiful woman stood near the counter, chatting with a young shop assistant, a soft smile on her face.

Hai Jiaxi?

At the sight of her, his mind immediately went to all those days she spent working alongside Lu Xiao… and, more importantly, their engagement.

The Hai family’s stance on the matter was still unclear, and he had no intention of getting interrogated about his relationship with Lu Xiao. So he took a few quiet steps back, planning to slip away unnoticed.

However just as he turned, Hai Jiaxi suddenly lifted her head, and caught sight of him. Her eyes widened in surprise.

“Oh my! Xiao Ci?”
