Chapter 56.2
Editor: Jodi
Watching Shen Ci’s solo fans and CP fans go at each other, Wei Shuo changed the subject hurriedly by introducing the next snack.
Though the comments kept feuding, the products on display kept selling out at lightning speed, and everyone was relieved.
However Shen Ci couldn’t help feeling down as he glanced at the chat while eating. He hadn’t expected that his fans’ reaction would actually be this intense.
After getting together with Lu Xiao recently, he realized he didn’t mind Lu Xiao’s affectionate gestures— this was probably what was called like right?
However just the faintest hint of this, and fans were flipping out…. and even cursing Lu Xiao.
Too difficult. He suddenly didn’t want to be an idol anymore. There was just no freedom.
And perhaps because they had seen that he was just eating silently, his mood down because of the chaotic comments, his fans calmed down slowly and went back to praising his and Wei Shuo’s looks and the snacks with fancy wordplay.
However when Wei Shuo got to a bag of snacks that was marked “super spicy”, he didn’t dare give it to Shen Ci and decided to try it himself. But the moment he took a bite, his eyes teared up from the heat immediately.
“Holy—!” His face scrunched in pain, as his assistant rushed to hand him some milk, which he gulped down as fast as possible.
Seeing this, Shen Ci, a die-hard spice lover, was intrigued and clearly wanted to give it a shot. However Wei Shuo, glancing nervously at Lu Xiao’s deadly glare, rejected him outright. “Don’t even try the cute act—it’s not going to work!”
Shen Ci rolled his eyes then looked down sulkily, still a little bummed out.
Wei Shuo was really suffering because of the spice. He tilted his head back and gasped for air with his mouth open, then accidentally flashed the tip of his red tongue.
His fans instantly flooded the chat, screaming things like, “Shuo Ge’s giving us the goods!” and “Wild bunny boy with those cute ears, yes please!” It was so wild that Wei Shuo didn’t even have a chance to respond.
The hand of Yin Zhao, who was watching from the bathroom twitched, and a blush crept up his face before he even realized it, his jaw clenching in frustration.
After watching these two for so long, he had finally figured it out—they either relied on cute antics or pushed the limits with suggestive looks!
Those ridiculous bunny ears and that strange expression…. Yin Zhao suddenly felt short of breath and had to take a few deep breaths to calm down.
In short, they weren’t following any principles of fair competition at all! He swore he was going to give them a piece of his mind later.
There wasn’t much left, and the livestream barely kept it together until the end.
“Alright, everyone! That’s pretty much it for today’s stream!”
Shen Ci and Wei Shuo made heart signs at the camera, and the other stars joined in, giving their farewells. Then work finally wrapped up.
Shen Ci was so exhausted that he slumped over onto the table the moment they were done. While Wei Shuo, frowning, grabbed his vibrating phone and immediately cursed into it as he walked off to a corner to argue in private.
Then Shen Ci felt a warm hand pinching his ear gently, a soft breath brushing past. “Were you upset just now?”
Around people he was close to, Shen Ci’s temper was hard to hold back. So, pouting, he said aggrievedly, “En! The fans were fighting, and I couldn’t even enjoy my snacks! So annoying.”
Lu Xiao ran a hand through his hair and asked, “Want some milk tea?”
The moment Shen Ci heard “milk tea”, his face turned beet red as he remembered what had happened last night. He shook his head vigorously.
Leaning down, Lu Xiao planted a gentle kiss on the top of his head. “Alright then, let’s go back to the hotel and rest.”
“Okay…” Shen Ci looked up, then saw that everyone was staring at him and Lu Xiao in shock. And the moment they saw him look back, they turned away hurriedly, pretending they hadn’t seen anything.
Shen Ci: !!!
Dang, he’d totally forgotten that there were other people around.
So, pretending nothing had happened, he wrapped up his goodbyes, then left the set with the same hands and feet.
Lu Xiao moved at a relaxed pace right behind him, a faint smile in his eyes.
How could a child was was so adorable? He was simply too cute…
When they got back to the hotel, Min Shoubei was lounging in the living room of Shen Ci’s suite, waiting for them.
He was draped lazily on the couch, one arm resting over the back. He glanced over at Shen Ci. “The stream’s over?”
Shen Ci nodded. “En…”
Gripping his sleeves nervously, he sat down beside Min Shoubei, hesitated for a while, then finally worked up the courage to say, “Dad.”
Min Shoubei’s eyes widened, then he went silent for a long moment.
This was the first time Shen Ci had ever called him that.
When he didn’t respond, Shen Ci felt a little awkward, and so changed the subject hurriedly. “Uh….. Dad, what was my name when I used to be with you?”
Maybe a trip down memory lane would stir up some father-son feelings?
Min Shoubei looked at him. “Min Xiao Bao.”
Shen Ci: ?
Shen Ci asked, “And my sister’s?”
Min Shoubei gave him a “you guessed right” look. “Min Da Bao. Min Song is her stage name.”
Shen Ci: “…”
He suddenly found himself lost in thought, picturing a glamorous goddess with an icy aura, a svelte figure, and vibrant red lips introducing herself confidently: “Hello, everyone, my name is Min Da Bao.”
If he remembered correctly, his dad was a big-shot director who graced international red carpets? Giving children names so casually was one thing, but why did it have such a…… rustic vibe?
But he didn’t dare say what he was thinking and tried to steer the conversation elsewhere. “Uh, Dad, you’re waiting here for me—do you need to talk about something?”
Min Shoubei nodded, then reached down and dragged over a huge box from beside his feet, stuffed with hundreds of movie CDs.
Shen Ci was flattered. “Dad, are you planning a movie marathon with me?”
Min Shoubei shot him a look that said he was clueless. “No. This is your study material for the next few days. Watch them all.”
Shen Ci: !!!
This study load felt exactly like when his high school teachers assigned three sets of full mock exams to complete in one night…
He tried to back out. “Uh… I still have to film for a show! I signed a contract, and I have to head back to the village tomorrow.”
Hearing this, Min Shoubei crossed his arms, leaning back on the sofa.
“I thought Min Song told you—I’m reworking a script I wrote for your mom over twenty years ago. I’m planning for you to star in it. I’m already assembling the team.”
“Oh…… she, she did mention it…”
“That show currently airing is only your second acting gig, right? For a beginner, you’re doing well. You’ve improved fast.”
“Thank you…..”
“Xiao Bao, maybe you got some of your mom’s talent, and you have potential. But relying on that little bit of natural talent and stumbling through scenes… it’s still far from enough if you want to carry the script I wrote or get on the big screen.”
Min Shoubei’s gaze locked on Shen Ci, intense and focused. “You have at least three months to prepare before we start filming. You’d better use this time to study and polish your acting skills.”
“You can audit classes at the drama academy. I’ll also arrange for a senior actor to coach you. But all this is going to take a huge commitment.”
“So, I want you to quit that variety show.”
Shen Ci: !!!
That was….. pretty blunt.
