Chapter 50.2
Editor: Jodi
So, when Shen Bie came by to visit his little brother and opened the door, he was greeted by the sight of Lu Xiao, dressed in loungewear, sitting at the table reading a book while Shen Ci lounged on the bed, munching on snacks, the two of them chatting casually.
He couldn’t help but blurt out, “What the hell?” This scene—Lu Xiao had moved directly into Shen Ci’s room?!
Comparing the two treatments, the originally radiant “room cleaned by Shen Ci himself” suddenly seemed dull in comparison…..
He had been so preoccupied with guarding against Shao Jinhuan that he had completely forgotten about this big demon king, Lu Xiao!
And Xiao Ci actually invited him to stay in his room… Was his precious little brother already so *** that he was seducing Lu Xiao…? Sure enough, the cub he had raised was no longer his own.
A stampede of crying alpacas galloped through Shen Bie’s mind, however all he could muster was a pitiful three-word greeting: “….Hello, Uncle Lu.”
Lu Xiao lifted his eyes to look at him, his deep eyes showing no emotion as he gave a slight nod.
Shen Bie sat down on the edge of the bed, where he felt the occasional cold glance Lu Xiao shot his way, which filled his heart with a mix of anger and frustration.
He really wanted to punch Lu Xiao, but he simply didn’t dare…
Meanwhile, Shen Ci hummed a tune happily, munching on snacks and scrolling through his phone, completely oblivious to the strange and tense atmosphere between the two.
That afternoon, Shen Ci stuck to the plan and first took Lu Xiao up the mountain to pick cherries.
The farmer specifically chose the biggest and reddest ones for Lu Xiao, and Lu Xiao, picking one out of the basket, held it up to Shen Ci’s lips.
And Shen Ci, opening his mouth, ate it, grinning, “I want more!”
A gentle and soft ripple spread through Lu Xiao’s eyes as he cleaned one cherry after another patiently, feeding them to Shen Ci.
They had already informed the production crew, so Shen Ci enjoyed a rare, relaxing afternoon without the cameras, sticking to Lu Xiao freely.
“The two of you are really close!” The farmer smiled when he saw the two of them acting all mushy together. “Is this your dad?”
“……” Lu Xiao suddenly fell silent.
Shen Ci burst out laughing. “Do he look that old?”
The farmer chuckled awkwardly, “Huh? No, no. It’s just that you seem quite young, and you two are so close, so I just made a wild guess!”
Shen Ci joked around with him a bit to smooth things over.
The farmer had nearly picked all the cherries from this tree and was about to move on to another one when he noticed that the sky was beginning to look rather overcast.
“Not good….” The farmer muttered, “It’s going to rain.”
And hearing this, Shen Ci panicked a little. “Then, then let’s hurry down the mountain.”
He helped the farmer pack up their things hurriedly, then they started back.
However the weather didn’t cooperate, because just as they were halfway down the mountain, large drops of rain began to fall rapidly.
The farmer was anxious: “We won’t make it in time. My family has a small shack nearby. How about we take shelter there?”
Shen Ci nodded again and again, “En, en, anything is fine as long as Little Uncle doesn’t get soaked.”
However he didn’t know whether it was his imagination or something else, but he felt Lu Xiao’s grip on his right hand tighten slightly.
However because the rain was getting heavier, he didn’t have time to think about it deeply as he focused on getting to the shelter as quickly as possible.
By the time they finally reached the small hut, all three of them were half-drenched. They took refuge inside.
The hut was a simple place where the farmer occasionally stayed whenever he was tending the mountain, so it had the basic living necessities.
The farmer went to light the coal stove to start a fire, while Shen Ci asked for a towel, then tiptoed to help Lu Xiao dry his wet hair.
However Lu Xiao, not saying a word, held his wrist to stop him, then lifting him up, placed him on the hard bed on the side to sit down.
“Be good.”
His voice was low and hoarse, one that left no room for defiance.
Shen Ci froze in place, unable to move, as he watched him take the towel away from him calmly, then start to dry his hair instead.
“Little Uncle……” He called out softly.
“Hmm?” Lu Xiao’s voice was lazy and magnetic as he lowered his eyes to look at him.
“I…”
Shen Ci regretted being so hasty in bringing Lu Xiao up the mountain today. He wanted to apologize, but knew that he would just smile lightly and say, “It’s alright.”
And that would only make him feel more guilty.
The two fell into silence, and the farmer, having finished lighting the fire, stood by the window, watching the sky. The only sounds in the room were the crackling of the burning firewood.
After finishing with Shen Ci’s hair, Lu Xiao rubbed the towel over his own head a few times roughly before sitting down beside him and pulling him into his arms.
Lu Xiao: “Are you cold?”
Shen Ci nodded slightly, and Lu Xiao not saying anything more, just pulled him in closer and tightly.
Their clothes were still damp, however the warmth of their bodies began to seep through, and Shen Ci, feeling much warmer, closed his eyes in exhaustion…
“Xiao Ci.”
Suddenly awakened, Shen Ci looked at Lu Xiao in a daze.
The corners of Lu Xiao’s lips curved into a slight smile as he pinched his earlobe gently, saying softly, “The rain has stopped.”
Rubbing his eyes, Shen Ci got up from Lu Xiao’s arms and saw that there was really only the sound of wind rustling through the leaves left outside.
A dim kerosene lamp flickered on the table, casting a warm glow, while the farmer, who was leaning against the wall, was fast asleep. Shen Ci pushed the door open quietly and stepped outside.
The fresh, cool breeze that had been washed clean by the rain hit his face, making him shiver as he hugged himself and looked up.
The night sky hung above, dark and vast, adorned with countless twinkling stars that looked like scattered diamonds.
And because this was a mountainous area, with a lack of pollution and high altitude, it offered a rare and stunning view of the starry night sky.
Lu Xiao went back in to take a faded bedsheet, then draped it over Shen Ci. The sight was so funny that Shen Ci couldn’t help but be amused.
The vegetation in front of the hut was lush, and the ground wasn’t too slippery after the rain, so the two of them took a leisurely walk.
“The sky’s already dark, and it rained too. Looks like we won’t be able to head back until tomorrow morning.” Shen Ci sighed. What bad luck.
Lu Xiao, however didn’t look too concerned: “A rare peaceful evening.”
Shen Ci laughed and was about to reply when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye.
He looked up at the sky in confusion, then saw several meteors suddenly streak across the sky, disappearing into the distance.
“Meteors!” He shouted in surprise, jumping up and down excitedly.
He turned to Lu Xiao, his face lit up with a bright smile. “Little Uncle, hurry up and make a wish! Whenever a meteor passes, your wish will come true! But remember, you can’t say it out loud!”
The sudden burst of brilliant stars, like a river of light, flowed through Shen Ci’s dark eyes, leaving Lu Xiao unable to breathe for a moment.
In that instant, the stars lost their luster, and all Lu Xiao could see was the innocent, happy smile of the person in front of him—the treasure he had hidden in his heart—now boldly challenging his tightly controlled reason.
Shen Ci closed his eyes, clasped his hands together in front of his chest, and smiled with pure happiness.
Thump, thump, thump…
The feelings that had been raging in Lu Xiao’s heart for over a decade grew increasingly uncontrollable. His breathing became rapid, and his eyes started to turn red from the strain.
“My wish…”
Lu Xiao cupped Shen Ci’s face in his hands, then before the stunned Shen Ci could register what was happening, he leaned in and pressed his lips against his.
