Chapter 48.1
Editor: Jodi
Cheng Yun, not afraid of adding more chaos to the already ongoing chaos, grabbed a wine bottle and began singing into it as if it were a microphone. The crowd quickly joined in, clapping along.
“Dance! Dance faster!” Wei Shuo pulled his phone out and shook it, grinning mischievously. “I’ve got videos of you wetting the bed and sitting on the ground crying when you couldn’t beat me in a race.”
Shen Ci was angry, “Don’t lie to me! You didn’t even have a camera back then!”
Wei Shuo shrugged, “You’re right, I didn’t. But your ultimate little brother con big brother did, and we often share resources with each other.”
Shen Ci: “….” Damn it!
His big brother was great in every way except for his annoying habit of collecting embarrassing photos and videos of him. From childhood to now, who knew how many awkward moments and dirt his big brother had amassed!
Shen Bie, in the name of “capturing beautiful moments”, had a collection of these.
Beautiful moments, his foot! He wasn’t a seaweed!
Shen Ci, once again angry due to being embarrassed, decided that he would spend a lot of money after the show to hire someone to hack into Shen Bie’s computer and delete everything to prevent future problems!
Forced by the situation, he started dancing haphazardly to the rhythm, then gradually let himself go.
As Shen Ci danced chaotically, Cheng Yun continued singing out of tune. Their performance shifted seamlessly from “Mojito” to “Wild Wolf Disco”. Shen Ci soon abandoned his idol persona, dancing and twisting like a carefree child, reminiscent of the “Dance of Love” family battle style.
“Today, I challenge you, Nicholas Shen Ci, the Dance King of Asia, to a dance-off at the Forbidden City!” The drunk Wei Shuo shouted excitedly, then jumped in to join Shen Ci’s wild dance.
“These two are such treasures, so adorable, hahaha…”
“My god, I can’t take it anymore…”
“…”
The other artists clutched their stomachs, laughing so hard that they could hardly breathe, and even Shao Jinhuan, who was usually stoic, couldn’t help but laugh, his gentle gaze lingering on Shen Ci.
Guo Nuan Nuan laughed weakly, “Stop… you guys stop fighting!”
The crowd burst into laughter again, however the smile on the face of Jiang Shu who was in the corner was faint and forced. She lowered her head and took a sip of juice to hide the ridicule in her eyes.
These two were really lunatics. Sure enough, those without talent could only rely on acting foolish to gain attention!
She was irritated. She had originally planned to sing and get more camera time, but now there was no chance.
She glared at Shen Ci and Wei Shuo with disgust.
Cheng Yun laughed too hard to continue singing, and Shen Ci, panting, pulled Wei Shuo away.
Wei Shuo was still reluctant, but Shen Ci stuffed a chicken drumstick into his mouth, “Here, eat this!”
And Wei Shuo, too drunk to resist, soon started gnawing on the drumstick, content and busy.
“I think I finally understand why so many people like you.” Cheng Yun wiped away tears of laughter as he spoke to Shen Ci.
Shen Ci: “….. because I’m so silly?”
Cheng Yun shook his head, still smiling. “I don’t know why, but being around you always makes people happy. Your positive energy is really infectious.”
Shen Ci froze, then he remembered that Brother Zhang had said something similar about him before.
“You this kid are really something special. This is the first time I’ve enjoyed managing an artist this much. Seeing you brightens my day, haha.”
With that thought in mind, Shen Ci looked over to where Brother Zhang was sitting, away from the cameras.
Brother Zhang happened to be looking at him as well and gave him a thumbs-up, mouthing the words “Great job.”
Feeling a bit like he ad been affirmed by a father figure, Shen Ci beamed back at him.
Then suddenly, a strange whistling sound filled the air, then several points of light ascended into the sky, bursting into a series of splendid fireworks that lit up the dark night. More followed, creating a dazzling display.
“Ah! Fireworks!” Guo Nuan Nuan grabbed her phone hurriedly to record, with the rest of the crew also capturing the moment as well.
It was a surprise that had been prepared for them by the village chief, and Shen Ci, leaning against a nearly asleep Wei Shuo, smiled contentedly as he watched the fireworks light up the sky.
Then he took his phone out, and seeing that the time was right, recorded a short, vibrant video, then sent it to Lu Xiao.
“Little Uncle, watch the fireworks with me!”
A few seconds later, Lu Xiao replied.
Lu Xiao: [Smile] Okay.
Lu Xiao: They look great.
However the familiar yellow smiley emoji with the downcast eyes made Shen Ci doubt himself once more.
A few days later, the first episode of the show aired.
Shen Ci and the other artists gathered in the living room of the small guesthouse’s main building to watch it together, and to their surprise, the editing of the episode didn’t overly highlight conflicts but instead focused mostly on their harmonious interactions and teamwork.
This caused them all to breathe sighs of relief— the production team had behaved like humans.
However throughout the episode, Shen Ci’s expression shifted between pale and flushed, with everyone around him trying hard to suppress their laughter.
This was because the scene of him lazing off and sleeping, and not being able to dance had all been included and even used as part of the promotional material….
He had embarrassed himself in front of the entire nation. Shen Ci couldn’t believe his foolish behavior had been aired. It felt like a social death.

“Don’t worry, don’t worry. Just check Weibo to distract yourself.” Wei Shuo patted his shoulder, sighing in consolation.
Shen Ci nodded, however his hands trembled as he opened Weibo, and sure enough, his name was on the hot search.

Shen Ci: “….” He wanted to beat Wei Shuo, who had burst into uncontrollable laughter to death. He just knew nothing good would come of this!
“Shen Ci Global Fan Club solemnly declares: We fans are rational and normal people! Don’t cue us!”
“I can’t bear to watch this. What kind of person have I become a fan of, hahaha…”
“Bao’er, what happened to you? Throw a payment QR code, and we’ll donate to help you!”
“Such an adorable fool. Should we team up to kidnap him? How many years do we get if we’re caught?”
“Even as a silly boy, Ci Bao’er is still so cute and handsome that it takes my breath away, sob! And I’m a man! Am I being turned gay…”
“Upstairs, don’t panic, you’re just joining the ranks of Xiao Ci’s male mom army…”
“….”
The show’s slogan on the hot search was “Warm Moments”, however Shen Ci stood out boldly with the title of “Foolish Idol”, fearlessly taking over the hot search list.
And within minutes, pictures of Shen Ci sleeping in the mall and his awkward dance moves had been turned into memes and were spreading like wildfire. People even started imitating his dance moves.
On the surface, everyone comforted Shen Ci, who wanted to escape his embarrassment, but inside, they were all laughing hysterically.
After all, teasing Shen Ci was such an easy way to harvest happiness. He was seriously a fountain of joy.
