Chapter 45.1

Editor: Jodi

After waiting at the airport for over two hours, Shen Ci fell asleep the moment he boarded the plane while Wei Shuo posed to take selfies frantically to upload to Weibo later.

This was a professional habit for Wei Shuo, who included various photos in almost every one of his thousands of Weibo posts.

Shen Ci, half-asleep, mumbled as he looked at him, “Sometimes I suspect you and Yang Ning are long-lost siblings. Both of you are so obsessed with selfies.”

Wei Shuo rolled his eyes at him. “This is called ‘constructing my self-image in the virtual world’, okay? And don’t compare me to that wannabe sugar baby.”

Shen Ci said back, “Can we talk normally without pretending to be superior?”

Wei Shuo chuckled, “No way. Pretending is my main source of energy.”

Shen Ci: “….”

After the plane landed, the show’s crew had a minibus ready to take Shen Ci and Shao Jinhuan to the hotel for the night. They would have a small gathering in the evening, then the next day, the entire crew would head to the filming location together.

The filming started the next day with shots of the celebrities waking up.

Brother Zhang, with the cameraman, opened the door only to find Shen Ci sleeping messily with his pajamas almost completely open. He covered the camera’s lens hurriedly. “Wait, wait, wait—”

Then he covered Shen Ci’s stunningly white skin and forbidden areas in a panic, then shook him awake.

Then still feeling uneasy, he instructed the cameraman, “The footage you took just after entering…. definitely make sure to delete it! It’s so sloppy and silly, it will ruin our Great Yunxiao Entertainment’s image.”

The cameraman agreed verbally but secretly made an encrypted backup.

He was very sure that the director would give him a bonus for such valuable footage.

Shen Ci got up to wash, then yawned as he dragged his luggage out of the hotel with Brother Zhang following.

The minibus from the crew was the same as the day before, only that the driver this time was a tall, dark-skinned local man who looked reliable.

“Why can’t I come along!” Wei Shuo, hands on his hips, was negotiating with the director nearby.

The director also felt very helpless, “It’s in the contract. You didn’t sign with our variety show, so you can’t join us.”

Gritting his teeth, Wei Shuo responded, “Fine… I’ll find my own way there!”

The director, relieved, said, “Sure, go ahead.”

Wei Shuo scoffed, then immediately went to rent a car, dragging his luggage behind him.

“…..” Watching his angry retreat, Shen Ci suspected that he would soon see him arrive in a Bentley or Ferrari at the filming location.

All the cast members were now gathered on the minibus heading to their destination.

Shen Ci had previously reviewed the program’s brief, and so knew that they were going to a newly accessible, impoverished mountain village to open a guesthouse and by the way, cooperate with the local to support local poverty alleviation projects.

So the living conditions were expected to be tough. At first, Shen Ci didn’t mind, however he was quickly proven wrong.

Because as soon as the minibus hit the mountain road, it started to bump violently, the steep, uneven road feeling like a low-budget roller coaster.

The city-dwelling celebrities turned pale and gray from the rough ride and Shen Ci, unable to catch any sleep, almost threw up.

“Is there still time for me to break the contract and pay the penalty?” He asked weakly as he looked at the camera.

The director didn’t answer, too busy vomiting into a bag.

After surviving the hellish two-hour ride, Shen Ci almost collapsed when he got off the bus.

However Shao Jinhuan, quick to react, caught him, and although he didn’t look much better, he asked with concern, “Are you okay?”

And Shen Ci, afraid that he might vomit on him, stepped back quickly. “I’m fine, I’m fine…”

Shao Jinhuan’s hand froze in mid-air, and realizing that his reaction might have seemed rude, Shen Ci added, “Thanks for helping me. I just don’t want to throw up on you—”

“Fuck! This, this, this….”

There were gasps from the staff behind them, followed by murmurs.

Causing Shen Ci to look up subconsciously.

A large group of simply dressed local residents had blocked their path, each one of them looking excited and emotional, with some even wiping away tears of joy.

And a brand new red banner hung above their heads: “Warmly Welcome the ‘Perfect Guesthouse’ Program Team to Guide Our Village Tourism Development!”

The entire staff and cast: “???”

Shen Ci’s legs went weak again, causing him to almost kneel to the group of enthusiastic villagers.
