Chapter 37.2 Harbouring ill intentions

Editor: Jodi

The screenwriter, standing shoulder to shoulder with the director, communicated with all the actors present to ensure that they understood their characters.

After Shen Ci was done, it was Yang Ning’s turn, and he could actually speak eloquently, surprising Shen Ci.

The screenwriter only made minor corrections, praised his exceptional talent then rushed to consult the next actor.

Shen Ci had wanted to see Yang Ning make a fool of himself so he could laugh at him, but now he could only memorize lines in a bored manner when he was suddenly shaken hard several times by Yang Ning: “Xiao Ci! Holy fuck!”

He held up his phone up for him to see, the screen showing a Weibo post that had just been made with a photo attached to it.

The photo had been taken at a very clever angle. In the foreground was a distinct hand holding a cup of milk tea, and in the background there was only Shen Ci looking down at the script, making it seem as if they were the only two in the room.

Actor Lin Wan: A certain little cutie treated me to milk tea again~

Shen Ci almost choked on a mouthful of milk tea, accidentally spilling a few drops on his shirt. Then someone patted his back hurriedly to help him breathe: “Be careful.”

The voice was soft and familiar, causing Shen Ci  to turn around in horror, and sure enough, it was Lin Wan.

When did he suddenly come over?

Lin Wan seemed to carry a faint woody perfume scent, similar to the bitter cold scent on Lu Xiao, however it made Shen Ci’s brows wrinkle up, as he found it unpleasant.

Lin Wan had the appearance of a gentle gentleman, and at the moment he was looking at him worriedly, his eyes filled with deep and somewhat cloying affection.

Goosebumps appeared all over Shen Ci’s body. This guy gave him a weird vibe, making it impossible for him to be amiable.

No wonder Wei Shuo told him to be careful.

“Your shirt is dirty, let me help you wipe it.”

Lin Wan offered too eagerly as he took a pack of wet wipes from his assistant, ready to clean Shen Ci’s collar, somewhat impatient.

Alarm bells went off in Shen Ci’s head, and just as he was about to stop him, Lin Wan’s wrist was grabbed firmly by another, forcing him to stop his actions.

Yang Ning, with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, yanked Lin Wan’s hand away: “No need to trouble yourself, the director is waiting for you.”

Lin Wan looked at him with a little bit of hostility but hid it quickly, turning to Shen Ci with an apologetic smile: “I’m really sorry for posting your photo without your permission, I was just a bit too excited.”

Hearing this, what else could Shen Ci do but wave his hands and say, “It’s okay, it’s okay”?

But the photo Lin Wan posted really confused Shen Ci. It was as if he was intentionally trying to bring the two of them closer.

Lin Wan smiled at him and then left.

Yang Ning, tapping away on his phone, wrapped an arm around Shen Ci: “Come, come, give brother’s new post a like.”

Shen Ci leaned over to look: “….”

He also posted a photo holding milk tea with Shen Ci, the composition exactly like Lin Wan’s, clearly a challenge.

Seeing Shen Ci not moving, Yang Ning simply snatched his phone to like and reply, directing his own scene smugly.

Shen Ci: Wow, your hands are so beautiful oh~

Singer-songwriter Yang Ning: Little cub’s mouth is so sweet! Mua, a kiss for you!

Shen Ci: “….” Damn, his reputation was about to be destroyed!

He immediately tried to grab the phone to delete it, but Yang Ning wouldn’t let him. The two were at a standoff until Yang Ning raised the phone above his head, checking to see if his post had made it to the hot search—

Yang Ning: “???”

He lowered the phone in shock: “Holy shit, why was my Weibo reported and banned for seven days! What rule did I break!”

He checked Lin Wan’s Weibo immediately and saw that it had also been reported and then blocked.

Shen Ci stifled a laugh, feeling a rush of schadenfreude: “Serves you right.”

Yang Ning then checked his DMs. His most recent comments were few, but the most eye-catching was from Wei Shuo.

“Let go of Xiao Ci for this young master. Trying to undermine me in my absence?! Your account is done! @Lu Xiao.”

Yang Ning: “….?”

His account was done, and he was also numb.

Since the filming schedule had been set in stone, not even half a month after the script reading ended, they were notified to start filming.

The ceremonial offering before the start of the filming was arranged near the first scene’s setting, and Brother Zhang had booked a room for Shen Ci at a hotel not far away, where Shen Ci stayed the night before the ceremony.

On the day of the offering, Brother Zhang dragged Shen Ci out of bed at five in the morning, and half asleep, Shen Ci stumbled towards the door, holding the back of Brother Zhang’s shirt, until someone bumped into him abruptly.

Frowning, he opened his eyes to see a surprised Lin Wan who said with a smile, “It turns out you’re staying next door to me.”

Shen Ci woke up immediately. The room next to his had been vacant yesterday and he had even chosen it wilfully…. this Lin Wan obviously did it deliberately.

Lin Wan’s smile was gentle, but in Shen Ci’s eyes it harboured evil intentions.

Even until the offering ceremony ended, Shen Ci was still uneasy. He had really been scared by Bai Ziwei. If Lin Wan was planning something similar…..

Brother Zhang could see that he didn’t look okay, and after asking and finding out the reason why, he immediately went to change rooms, only to be told that there were no suites left—they were all filled with actors and staff from the crew.

Shen Ci was still anxious: “Then, Brother Zhang, how about we book two adjacent standard rooms?”

Although this would aggrieve the little young master, seeing his genuine fear, Brother Zhang could only do it.

While discussing this with the front desk, Shen Ci’s phone rang.

He answered it without looking then heard Lu Xiao’s deep and soothing voice from the other end of the phone: “Xiao Ci? I happen to have a suite nearby your filming location. Do you want to come stay there?’

“It’s more secure and comfortable.”

Shen Ci was stunned: “Little Uncle, how come I don’t remember you have a house near here?”

He had gone to play at every one of Lu Xiao’s properties, but Lu Xiao had never told him about this place.

Could it be that the purchase was a secret base that only he himself knew about?

Thinking this way, Shen Ci felt vaguely uncomfortable in his heart.

Lu Xiao’s voice was calm: “I just bought it last night.”

Shen Ci: “……”
