Chapter 24.1

Editor: Jodi

The meeting place was set at a restaurant.

For the first time, the mother and son met formally. They both felt unfamiliar with each other, so they didn’t speak until the dishes were brought out.

After coming to terms with some things, Zheng Qiuyi had lost the cold and sharp demeanor she once had when facing Tang Zhou.

She carefully scrutinized her son, who was just a little distance away.

He had a handsome appearance and extraordinary bearing. Apart from the aloof expression, there was no fault to be found on him.

She looked for a long time before withdrawing her gaze and picking up the chopsticks, saying, “Let’s eat first, the dishes will get cold.”

Although Tang Zhou felt awkward, he wouldn’t let his stomach suffer, so he chose his favorite dishes and ate slowly and methodically.

He never made a sound while eating, as etiquette and manners were ingrained in him. His lowered eyelashes cast shadows over his eyes, making him appear particularly obedient.

Zheng Qiuyi chuckled to herself, feeling a little bewitched. Everyone outside said her son was lofty and proud, so how could he be the cute and obedient type?

In reality, Tang Zhou had a lot of questions he wanted to ask, but since Zheng Qiuyi wasn’t talking, he didn’t feel comfortable starting the conversation on his own.

He and Fu Shen’s situation was fake, but others didn’t know, so he was worried that Zheng Qiuyi might have said something she shouldn’t have to Fu Shen. Although Fu Shen was someone who could bend and stretch, this situation had originated because of him. If Fu Shen faced any undeserved consequences, he would feel guilty and uneasy.

Furthermore, he felt strange with this dog blood plot happening to him.

A meal ended with the mother and son thinking wildly.

Zheng Qiuyi quietly noted the dishes Tang Zhou ate more of and asked seriously, “Do you really like him?”

Tang Zhou lifted his eyelashes, his light brown pupils translucent like glass, but with a hint of impatience hidden within.

“What exactly did you say to him?”

Zheng Qiuyi told him the truth, “I asked him to stay away from you.”

Tang Zhou: “….” Really an eight o’clock dog blood plot.

Poor Fu Shen.

“But he didn’t agree.” Zheng Qiuyi continued, “He does have some genuine feelings for you.”

She could tell that that boy called Fu Shen had a different look in his eyes when he mentioned Tang Zhou.

Of course, it couldn’t be ruled out that he was just good at acting.

Tang Zhou almost burst out laughing.

Genuine feelings? Fu Shen merely had an interest in the investment funds he had, where could genuine feelings come from?

His expression blank, he told her, “I hope you won’t do these things in the future.”

Seeing his attitude, Zheng Qiuyi subconsciously hesitated, but with the day’s purpose in mind, she gathered her courage and asked, “I just want to ask, do you want the Tang family?”

Tang Zhou was surprised.

This mother who had hardly been present in his over twenty years of life was now looking at him with an almost gentle expression, full of anticipation.

Must be an illusion, he thought.

Even in his dream, when he was penniless after he saved the Tang family, Zheng Qiuyi had only given him a cold glance.

The feeling of being abandoned by all his relatives, Tang Zhou didn’t want to experience it a second time.

The pent-up grievances within him turned into resentment and he replied with a sting in his words, “Since you’ve never cared about me, why bother asking now?”

The young man’s eyes reddened slightly, and although his questioning tone sounded forceful, it left a sour feeling in people’s hearts.

Zheng Qiuyi’s heart felt like it was pricked by a needle, aching persistently that she almost shed tears.

While she hated the Tang family, how good was she herself? And leaving such a small child in that cold-blooded house, wasn’t she cruel?

In that moment, Zheng Qiuyi really regretted it.

She rubbed her eyes and said in a hoarse voice, “If you want it, I’ll fight for you. If you don’t, then it doesn’t matter to me.”

Hearing the weariness in the second half of her sentence, Tang Zhuo felt a shock in his heart. “What do you mean?”

Zheng Qiuyi smiled and changed the subject, “Do you only like boys?”

Tang Zhou turned his head to look at his teacup.

He had never liked boys or girls, so how would he even know how to answer this question?

However Zheng Qiuyi interpreted his appearance as agreement. After everything became clear, she didn’t have the heart to object.

In one’s lifetime of a few decades, she had spent over forty years in a daze. In the eyes of others, she might have seemed happy and fulfilled, but who could understand the bitterness within?

Rather than being destined to marry someone he didn’t like, it was better to spend his life with someone he liked.

“If he can be with you for a lifetime, that wouldn’t be bad.” Zheng Qiuyi sighed softly. “It’s just that he’s a little domineering.”

Not polite even to his elders. She was worried that Tang Zhou might suffer.

Tang Zhou: “…”

Wasn’t domineering an understatement? Fu Shen, on the surface, appeared gentle and polite, but deep down, he was more domineering than anyone. He was also meticulous and vengeful, never letting himself suffer any loss.

Tsk, why does he keep coming to mind?

Pushing the figure out of his mind, Tang Zhou stood up. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back.”

Zheng Qiuyi became anxious, “You haven’t said whether you want the Tang family or not yet?”

Tang Zhou replied icily, “My matters, I’ll handle them myself.”

With that, not giving Zheng Qiuyi a chance to speak, he left the restaurant with large strides.
