Chapter 4.2

Fu Shen’s pupils contracted slightly, and a cold light flickered in his amber eyes.

Tang Zhou was quite familiar with Fu Shen in the dream world. Compared to the successful and accomplished President Fu, this young and naive Junior Fu was hardly a match. “What you do is none of my business, and you shouldn’t care about me either.”

At this point, Fu Shen dropped the innocent junior act. “If you’re using me as a shield, I think it’s fair for me to make some demands.”

Tang Zhou took out a cigarette and held it between his fingers, unlit. The darkness of the night made his hand look even more pale and translucent.

“Heh.” Tang Zhou played with the cigarette skilfully, revealing an enigmatic smile. However, the look in his eyes as he gazed at Fu Shen was cold. “Didn’t we agree to discuss business over dinner? If there’s no dinner, how can we talk about business?”

Fu Shen raised an eyebrow. “Fine, I suppose you didn’t eat tonight either. Let’s go now.”

He didn’t like to drag things out.

Suddenly, Tang Zhou’s phone rang. He waved it off, saying, “Not tonight, some other time.”

He let the phone ring for a few seconds before answering.

Grandpa.”

“Where are you now?”

“Outside.”

“Come back for a bit.”

“Okay.”

Hanging up the phone, Tang Zhou put the cigarette back in its pack. “Will you go back by yourself?”

Fu Shen smiled, “Although I’m your shield, I’m also your nominal lover. Is Tang Shao so stingy towards his lovers?”

“I’m sorry.” Tang Zhou said perfunctorily, “It’s my first time doing this, so please bear with me.”

The ambiguity in his words made Fu Shen glance at Tang Zhou. Seeing his composed expression, Fu Shen’s lips couldn’t help but curve. This unapproachable flower, Tang Shao, seemed not as boring as he had imagined.

The ride was quiet, and the car stopped at the entrance of Jiangcheng University.

Fu Shen chuckled lightly and unbuckled his seat belt. “Wait here for a few minutes.”

Tang Zhou could have ignored him, but for some reason, he didn’t start the car. Perhaps it was because he wanted to take a different, rebellious path and so wanted give it a try.

The lively night market, the smoke from the barbecue stalls, and the steam from the dumpling stands, all became more vivid and lively amid the conversations of vendors and customers.

Tang Zhou had never been here before because he didn’t like noise and chaos. But now that he took the time to experience it, he found it to have a unique charm.

At least it had more warmth than his cold, empty house.

Before long, Fu Shen came back with a bag and handed it through the window. “Consider this a thank-you gift for giving me a ride.”

Tang Zhou didn’t take it, looking hesitant. “What is it?”

“Osmanthus glutinous rice balls.”

A blue plastic bag contained a paper bowl, covered with a transparent plastic lid. A disposable pair of chopsticks and a plastic spoon lay beside it.

Tang Zhou pursed his lips, wanting to ask if it was edible but knowing that the question would likely hurt Fu Shen’s feelings, he held back.

Fu Shen seemed to read his thoughts and got into the car, lifting the lid. The sweet aroma of osmanthus glutinous rice filled the car instantly.

Tang Zhou felt even hungrier, his eyes involuntarily fixated on the snow-white rice balls.

“All these snack stalls are legit. Look at their signs; they all have a unified style. There won’t be any issues with the food.” Fu Shen assured him, handing over the bowl. “Just give it a try.”
