Chapter 53.1
Not being able to live together, Tang Zhou felt a bit disappointed, but he knew he couldn’t rush things.
The environment at Jiangxinyuan was pretty good, and in Tang Zhou’s heart, Fu Shen was already his boyfriend. But given the current situation, he needed to play it cool and not scare Fu Shen off.
“Take the rent out of my assistant’s salary, okay?” Tang Zhou asked before getting out of the car.
Fu Shen: “…”
He lowered his gaze, “Alright.”
Although he had never even considered the issue of rent, since Tang Zhou brought it up, he didn’t want to hurt his pride, so he just agreed.
“I can’t find where the house is. Can you take me there?” Tang Zhou asked again.
Fu Shen frowned slightly. “There are signs.”
“I can’t see them clearly at night.”
“There are streetlights.”
”…..”
Tang Zhou sighed in his heart. “Give me the keys.”
Fu Shen: “…”
Tang Zhou raised an eyebrow. “What’s wrong?”
“I didn’t bring them.” Fu Shen felt annoyed with himself. He had been so absent-minded earlier that he completely forgot. “You can use fingerprints. I’ll take you there.”
Tang Zhou chuckled. See? He still had to take him there.
The driver followed instructions and drove into the Jiangxinyuan community. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful at night, with shadows of greenery swaying gently, like soldiers silently observing the low-key black car.
After getting out of the car, Tang Zhou followed beside Fu Shen obediently. Neither of them said a word until they got into the elevator, when Tang Zhou finally asked, “Are things like blankets and stuff all set up here?”
As far as he knew, Fu Shen hadn’t really been to this place, so he wasn’t sure if any daily necessities had been prepared.
The elevator was silent for a moment, and just as Tang Zhou was about to speak, the doors opened. He lifted his foot to step out, but Fu Shen grabbed his wrist.
Fu Shen pressed the button to return to the first floor, let go of him, and said expressionlessly, “I’ll have someone prepare it tomorrow.”
Tang Zhou said intentionally, “Then tonight…”
“Book a room at a hotel.”
“…”
Tang Zhou felt that this dream was way too difficult.
The two of them got back into the car, and Fu Shen instructed the driver to head to a hotel. But Tang Zhou, who had already been “tormented” enough tonight, said bluntly, “I don’t like hotels. They’re not hygienic.”
Driver: I don’t dare speak.jpg
Fu Shen: “…”
He was silent for a while before finally saying: “President Tang wants…”
“To go to your place.”
Driver: !!!
Fu Shen: (`Д)!!
Tang Zhou pretended not to notice his surprised expression, lowered his head, and said dejectedly, “Forget it. I’m not President Tang right now, so just pretend I didn’t say that. Can you lend me some money so I can get a hotel room?”
It was only then that Fu Shen really realized how different the Tang Zhou in front of him was from before.
The Tang Zhou he remembered would never talk this much, let alone say something like this.
But this person was definitely Tang Zhou. There was no way he’d make a mistake.
Fu Shen didn’t respond to Tang Zhou’s words and simply told the driver, “Go back.”
The driver nodded, thinking to himself: After all this back and forth, we’re just going back to where we started. What was all that fuss for?
Fu Shen rarely brought anyone home, let alone let them stay the night.
When Tang Zhou was his assistant, he’d been lucky enough to eat Fu Shen’s cooking at this house a few times, but it was always for work reasons. He’d eat and leave, never staying longer than necessary.
The interior of the house was done entirely in cold tones—serious and subdued, without a trace of liveliness.
Tang Zhou changed into slippers and followed Fu Shen to the living room, then before Fu Shen could say anything, he said first, “I’m thirsty.”
Fu Shen turned around, poured some water, and handed it to him without a word.
The water was warm—not too hot, not too cold—just right.
Tang Zhou took a small sip, and holding the cup in both hands, said pitifully, “I got kicked out and didn’t bring anything with me.”
Fu Shen made up a bed for him, then prepared all kinds of daily necessities and placed them neatly around the guest room.
Watching Fu Shen’s carefully busy figure, Tang Zhou’s lips secretly curved into a smile. Then taking advantage of the moment Fu Shen was arranging toiletries, he deliberately ran into the bathroom and said to Fu Shen’s back, “And pajamas.”
Fu Shen: “…”
There were only his own pajamas at home. He did have new ones, but…
However before he could think of a good solution, he saw Tang Zhou lower his eyes and then heard him say softly, “Can I borrow your pajamas for now?”
The light from the bathroom ceiling poured down, casting the shadow of Tang Zhou’s eyelashes under his eyes, and for a moment, Fu Shen thought he caught a trace of shyness.
He shook his head. How was that possible.
Tang Zhou suddenly sneezed, rubbed his nose, and said in a muffled voice, “I want to take a shower first.”
This was clearly a sign of catching a cold. Fu Shen didn’t say anything more, grabbed a new set of pajamas and a towel, then left without another word.
Tang Zhou was indeed feeling unwell. It was probably from him having waited too long outside the community, which resulted in him catching a chill.
After soaking in the bath, his head felt a bit foggy, and he just collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep.
Fu Shen sat on the living room sofa for a long time. It wasn’t until there was no more noise from the guest room that he went to the study and opened his chat app.
Fu Shen: [Check on the Tang family for me.]
Mi Shu replied after a while: [There’s no issue with the Tang Group.]
Fu Shen: [Not the company.]
Mi Shu: […]
After a moment, Mi Shu finally sent over a photo and said: [Tang Tianyang hired someone to take this picture.]
As for more internal family conflicts, Mi Shu couldn’t possibly know all of them.
Fu Shen: [Thanks.]
He closed the chat window, enduring a headache as he recalled what Tang Zhou had said tonight.
He said he had been kicked out by Tang Zhihua, that he was no longer the president of the Tang Group, and that he wanted to become an assistant…
Fu Shen pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling his headache grow worse.
