Chapter 41.1

Editor: Jodi

Tang Zhou was well aware of Fu Shen’s character.

The things in the dream were enough to let him know that Fu Shen was not as harmless as he appeared on the surface.

Even without his report against Tang Zhen, he believed that Fu Shen could temporarily make Longxin Real Estate give up its investment plans by his own abilities.

It wasn’t about preventing the people in the village from earning demolition compensation, but that Longxin was simply unreliable.

If he remembered correctly, after Fu Shen succeeded in the dream, he donated a lot of money to his hometown and devoted himself to rural poverty alleviation projects.

But he didn’t want Fu Shen to fight alone.

“I already dislike Tang Zhen, so this kills two birds with one stone.” Tang Zhou squeezed Fu Shen’s hand, not wanting him to feel guilty.

Did Fu Shen really not know about him?

Having evidence to report Tang Zhen indicated that Tang Zhou definitely knew a lot of Tang Zhen’s secrets, but he had not moved against Tang Zhen before, obviously meaning he had been waiting for a better opportunity.

But now, it was wasted just for him.

“Losing a Tang Zhen is not a big deal for the current Tang family.”

Fu Shen held Tang Zhou’s hand back, a hint of regret in his eyes.

“It’s no big deal.” Tang Zhou was optimistic, “Hua Yue is going to soar, and some people are bound to become stepping stones.”

Fu Shen really liked his confident and domineering appearance, and couldn’t help but smile, “What if the Tang family and the Du family join forces?”

“They each harbor ulterior motives.” Tang Zhou said casually, “So it would be too fragile.”

Such an alliance, in Tang Zhou’s eyes, wasn’t worth mentioning.

Smiling, Fu Shen praised, “Baby is really amazing.”

Tang Zhou moved as if to get up, but was held back by Fu Shen, “You haven’t said why you came to my room.”

The first drumming boosted his courage, the second drumming made his courage low, and the third drumming exhausted his courage.

Tang Zhou had lost his momentum after chatting for a while. The boldness he had just had when he stormed into the room had completely disappeared, so he suddenly came up with a clever excuse: “I just wanted to ask when you’re going to find a companion for it.”

He gestured to the little white kitten in his hand.

Fu Shen pressed his palm against the lower part of his waist, “It’s not time yet.”

“Oh.” Tang Zhou said casually, not insisting, “Then I’ll go back to my room.”

Fu Shen wanted to ask him to stay, but could only restrain himself and smile as he let go of him.

Tang Zhou walked a few steps with the kitten in his arms, then turned back.

“I might be very busy in the next few months. I’ll be traveling frequently.”

Fu Shen focused on him, “Okay.”

Deep Blue’s project was also at a critical stage, so Fu Shen decided to devote himself wholeheartedly.

Tang Zhou pursed his lips, “I might not have time to deal with Deep Blue’s matters.”

“Don’t worry.” Fu Shen sat in the chair with his hands crossed under his abdomen.

Tang Zhou couldn’t find any more topics to talk about, so he turned his face away and said dejectedly, “Then I’ll go back to my room.”

“Baby.” Fu Shen called softly.

Tang Zhou immediately turned around, his eyes shining like morning stars.

“What’s wrong?”

Fu Shen stared at him for a long time before sighing lightly, “Rest early.”

“Oh.” Tang Zhou wilted as his eyelashes drooped.

*

Back in his room, Tang Zhou lay on the bed, buried himself under the blanket for a while, then let himself out.

Something wasn’t right!

He and Fu Shen had been able to sleep in the same bed before they were in a relationship, so they couldn’t suddenly not sleep together just because they were in a relationship, right?

Why?

Tang Zhou was about to lift the quilt and stride over when his phone rang.

He hurried to the next room and answered it casually.

“It’s me.” The gentle voice of a woman instantly calmed Tang Zhou down.

Tang Zhou’s eyes grew slightly cold, “What’s the matter?”

“I want to divorce Tang Zhen.” Zheng Qiuyi seemed to have let go of her obsession from many years ago, her tone relaxed and calm.

“Hmm.”

“After the divorce, I will take Xiao Xue abroad.” Zheng Qiuyi paused, then said cautiously, “Before going abroad, can we have dinner together? I’ll cook myself.”

Tang Zhou replied indifferently, “There’s no need for that.”

After so many years without cooking herself, why bother now?

Going abroad meant going abroad. Even if they never saw each other again, it wouldn’t matter.

Tang Zhou clenched his phone tightly, his eyelashes trembling violently.

The mother and son fell silent for a while, then Zheng Qiuyi spoke again, “I know you don’t want to see me, but I need your help.”

Tang Zhou was about to refuse, but then heard Zheng Qiuyi say, “Just listen to me first.”

He suppressed his impatience.

“After I go abroad, the domestic industries need someone to manage them. I don’t trust anyone else, and after thinking it over, you’re the most suitable.”

“I’m busy.”

Zheng Qiuyi still continued to speak gently, “It’s mainly some charity work. There are many children without parents involved, and they are still very young. If the operating mechanism is destroyed by someone with ill intentions, they may not even have enough to eat.”

Tang Zhou felt this was ironic.

“It has nothing to do with me.”

“I know the child around you had a difficult past, if there had been someone back then…”

“He doesn’t need it.” Fu Shen could make his own way in the world.

Tang Zhou hung up the phone decisively.

He sat on the edge of the bed, Zheng Qiuyi’s last words repeating in his mind.

He couldn’t help but admit, she had hit him where it hurt.

Fu Shen’s past had always made his heart ache. If someone had helped him back then, would he have suffered so much?

A child who had just entered junior high school, earning money while studying, it was a hardship and helplessness he couldn’t imagine.

But even so, Tang Zhou never considered agreeing to Zheng Qiuyi.

He only saw one Fu Shen.

Moreover, there were countless ways to do charity work, he didn’t need to take over her business. He understood her desire to compensate him, but he didn’t accept it.

Interestingly, Zheng Qiuyi chose to divorce at just this time.

Tang Tianyang’s engagement date hadn’t been affected by what had happened to Tang Zhen, so Zheng Qiuyi choosing to divorce Tang Zhen before Tang Tianyang’s engagement, was either a coincidence or intentional.

Tang Zhou leaned towards the latter.

And he had guessed right.

Because just one day before Tang Tianyang’s engagement, Tang Zhen received a notice from the court.

Tang Zhen’s first reaction was surprise. As long as he divorced Zheng Qiuyi, he could marry the person he liked, and Tang Tianyang could also remove the label of illegitimate child.

However having a divorce case in court would damage his reputation.

So he hoped for a mutual agreement to divorce.

But of course, things couldn’t go as he wished, because Zheng Qiuyi simply didn’t answer his calls.

As a result, Tang Tianyang’s engagement banquet was postponed.
