Chapter 39.1

Editor: Jodi

Watching movies was a common dating routine for couples.

There was a cinema in the mall near the Northern District villa, so Tang Zhou and Fu Shen arrived at eight in the evening, with the movie starting in fifteen minutes.

They chose a romantic movie.

“Do you want some popcorn?” Fu Shen asked.

This was his first time going on a movie date, and he only knew that popcorn was a staple snack for movies, so he had to ask.

Tang Zhou was about to refuse, but then he remembered that popcorn was sweet and that Fu Shen might like it, so he said, “Let’s get some.”

Fu Shen smiled, buying them a serving of popcorn and two iced teas.

This seemingly ordinary experience for most people was novel for the two of them.

As the lights in the cinema dimmed and the movie began, the sound of popcorn crunching could be heard from the front row.

Tang Zhou whispered to Fu Shen, “Aren’t you eating?”

Fu Shen pinched a piece and put it in his mouth, “It’s quite sweet.”

“Let me try.” As soon as Tang Zhou said this, a piece of popcorn was brought to his lips.

Under the dim light, Fu Shen’s eyes shone with an exceptionally bright light.

Tang Zhou froze, then lowered his head to eat the popcorn from the tip of Fu Shen’s fingers, the sweetness exploding in his mouth.

So sweet.

Fu Shen rubbed the tips of his fingers, still feeling the soft touch that was somewhat ticklish.

Then thirsty and dry-mouthed, he drank his iced tea so much that, before the movie was even halfway through, his drink was almost finished.

On screen, the male and female leads reunited at a fated place, igniting a passionate encounter that started in an elevator.

Then they started to make love in the elevator.

From entering, to closing the door, to a door slamming, to a hug, and finally……

The big screen displayed their entangled figures vividly, along with sounds of gasping and sucking, making the audience’s hearts race and their blood rise.

Tang Zhou noticed many couples starting to savor the sweetness of their popcorn.

“What do you think?” Fu Shen leaned in to ask.

Tang Zhou: “About what?”

“The movie, is it good?”

“It’s okay.”

“And the acting?”

“Pretty good.”

“How about the male lead’s looks?”

Tang Zhou couldn’t help but ask back, “Why are you suddenly asking so many questions?”

Fu Shen fell silent immediately.

–He was just trying to divert his own attention.

“Why have you stopped talking?”

Fu Shen: “Watch the movie.”

Tang Zhou: Weird.

After enduring the entire movie, instead of returning to the Northern District villa, they went back to their house near Jiang University.

Tang Zhou, after taking a shower and lying in bed with his kitten doll couldn’t help but kiss it repeatedly, squeezing its little paws as he sighed, “Xiao Bai, I can’t sleep alone.”

Xiao Bai stared with its round, big eyes as if mocking him for talking nonsense.

Tang Zhou felt aggrieved: “I used to be able to sleep, but that was when I was alone. Now it’s different.”

Xiao Bai: ….

Sitting up in bed and staring at the closed door, Tang Zhou mused, “What do you think about me going to look for Fu Shen?”

Never having experienced being cherished, once he felt it, he couldn’t bear to let go.

This was Tang Zhou’s state of mind now.

He enjoyed being doted on and pampered by Fu Shen, drowning in it without a way out.

Since Xiao Bai couldn’t answer, he took it’s silence as agreement.

So he tiptoed out of the room, clutching the little cat doll then stopped in front of Fu Shen’s door.

The quality of the houses here clearly couldn’t compare with the villa’s, with doors that did little for soundproofing.

Because Tang Zhou was about to knock when he heard a voice inside.

“I understand, I’ll be there as soon as possible.”

It was Fu Shen’s voice, and it carried a clear undertone of anger.

Be there? To where? What happened?

Tang Zhou thought about it, but then decided in the end to not knock and disturb.

After a night filled with restless thoughts, Tang Zhou had just finished breakfast the next morning when Fu Shen mentioned, “There’s some trouble back home, so I need to make a trip there.”

“What is it? Can I help?”

Tang Zhou even considered going back with him, but reality wouldn’t allow it. With Hua Yue at a critical juncture, he couldn’t leave and had to stay vigilant.

Fu Shen smiled, “It’s nothing, don’t worry. It’s just that it might delay a few days of work.”

Tang Zhou glared at him, “You’re worried I won’t give you time off?”

“Not at all.”

Fu Shen smiled then lowered his head to continue eating, his eyelashes hiding the coldness in his eyes.

After breakfast, Tang Zhou drove him to the station and watched him board the train before reaching out to his contacts.
