Chapter 52.2

Editor: Jodi

Fu Shen rarely talked to anyone during car rides. The driver was used to his personality and thought tonight would be no different, but to his surprise, the boss spoke up after a short while.

“Did anyone come to the office looking for me tonight?”

The driver was startled—he had unexpectedly said such a long sentence.

As Fu Shen’s personal driver, he often chatted with the security guards when he wasn’t busy and was always on call. He figured the boss knew about this habit, which was why he asked.

“President Fu, I didn’t see anyone.”

Fu Shen lowered his eyes to his phone, once again suspecting that Pi Xiu was playing a prank.

Ever since Tang Zhou returned to the Tang Group, he hadn’t reached out to him, so how could he possibly want to talk about personal matters this late at night?

Leaning back in his seat, he let out a slow sigh.

And under the weight of days of exhaustion and stress, his head started to ache. He closed his eyes, intending to rest for a bit, but ended up falling asleep without realizing it.

Until the driver woke him up.

“President Fu, look…”

Fu Shen opened his eyes abruptly, followed the driver’s gaze, then his expression froze slightly.

He closed his eyes and opened them again.

The person was still there.

And not getting a response, the driver added cautiously, “It’s President Tang.”

Tang Zhou had purposely waited at the entrance of Fu Shen’s neighborhood to block him.

He had left his own car with Lu Ye, who gave him a look of utter confusion as he drove him here.

Moreover the usually reserved and quiet President Lu actually spoke up for once, trying to persuade him: “Tang Zhou, don’t do anything foolish.”

He thought Tang Zhou was under too much pressure, and so had come to Fu Shen to get back at him.

Tang Zhou smiled gently, “I won’t do anything foolish.”

However who would’ve expected that seeing Tang Zhou’s smile made Lu Ye even more tense? In dramas, people always had this same strangely serene smile after making some kind of “big” decision.

And he felt like Tang Zhou was exactly like that.

Tang Zhou finally managed to send Lu Ye away after much persuasion. Then wearing just a thin jacket, he stood outside in the cold for over an hour before Fu Shen’s car finally showed up.

However before he could step forward, the driver, who recognized him, stopped the car.

Tang Zhou had been standing for so long that his legs were numb, hence he couldn’t even lift his feet. All he could do was stand there awkwardly and stare at the back seat of the car.

The car windows were one-way tinted, so he couldn’t see inside, however he still kept staring at them stubbornly.

The driver, noticing that Fu Shen hadn’t reacted for a while, asked, “President Fu, should I just drive in?”

This was a high-end residential area where the security guards didn’t let people in easily, so Tang Zhou had no choice but to wait there.

The cold wind hit him, and he couldn’t help but sneeze.

Fu Shen pressed his lips together, “Ask him what he wants.”

The driver responded by rolling down the window and asking Tang Zhou, “President Tang, why are you here?”

Tang Zhou had already planned to play the pitiful act in front of Fu Shen, so hearing this, he replied in a hoarse voice, “I have something to discuss with President Fu.”

He shifted his gaze back to the tightly closed car window, looking pitiful and helpless.

Under the dim streetlight, the disheveled man shivered slightly in the cold. His usually neat hair hung messily over his forehead, softening his usual aloofness and pride. Instead, he looked like an abandoned stray cat, evoking an instinctive sense of pity.

Before Fu Shen could process what was happening, his hand had already rolled down the window.

Their eyes met.

Tang Zhou stared at that familiar, handsome face, and a faint ache spread in his chest. After being used to Fu Shen’s gentleness, this sudden change in treatment left him feeling a little aggrieved.

The feeling of being ignored by someone one loved was really unbearable.

Fu Shen asked coldly, “What do you want?”

Tang Zhou’s emotions were all over the place, and for a moment, he didn’t know what to say. However the moment the numbness in his legs wore off, he stepped forward a few steps subconsciously and handed over a photo from his pocket.

In the photo, a handsome man had his arm around another good-looking man’s shoulders, leaning down as if to kiss him.

Fu Shen’s eyes flickered briefly, but when he looked up again, his expression was calm and unreadable. “And?”

“You need to take responsibility.”

Tang Zhou said this with a completely serious expression.

Fu Shen: ??!!

The driver: !!!

The two stared at each other for a few seconds before Fu Shen looked away and said calmly, “It’s fake.”

Tang Zhou sneezed again.

Fu Shen pinched his palm, forcing himself to pretend he didn’t see it.

But then he heard Tang Zhou say aggrievedly, “Because you got drunk, we got photographed. Now Tang Tianyang is using this picture to attack me, and the old man thinks I’m not fit to be the President of the Tang Group.”

Fu Shen looked up at him immediately.

“I have nothing now.”

Tang Zhou’s nose was red from the cold. “So, do you need an assistant?”

Fu Shen: “…”

Without much thought, he said decisively, “Get in the car.”

Tang Zhou reached out, opened the back door, then said to Fu Shen, “Can you move over a bit?”

The driver was shocked.

Even if President Fu really agreed to take you back, shouldn’t you be sitting in the front seat? What’s with sharing the back seat with him?

He waited for their usually aloof President Fu to tell Tang Zhou to get out, but instead, he saw through the rearview mirror that Fu Shen actually moved over.

Tang Zhou got into the car, and the warmth from the heater surrounded him, slowly driving away the chill in his body.

Fu Shen instructed the driver, “Take President Tang home.”

The driver asked Tang Zhou, “President Tang, where are you staying now?”

Lowering his head, Tang Zhou said softly, “I don’t have a place to stay.”

The driver: ?

How was that even possible?

He waited for Fu Shen’s instructions.

Fu Shen was silent for a moment before saying, “Go to Jiangxinyuan.”

He had a house there— it would be perfect to let Tang Zhou stay there for now.

Tang Zhou looked up at him abruptly. Even after playing the pity card so hard, he still couldn’t get them to live together?

“Wait.” He stared straight into Fu Shen’s eyes, his brown pupils seeming to glisten with a faint mist. “Do you want me as your assistant?”

Fu Shen felt that Tang Zhou was a bit different tonight, but maintaining a calm façade, he met his gaze. “President Tang, you’re not joking?”

“No, I’m not. I’ve already left the Tang Group, and now I don’t have a single cent to my name.”

The man in front of him was looking at him expectantly, making Fu Shen suddenly feel like he was Tang Zhou’s only lifeline.

And although Fu Shen still had doubts in his heart, he nodded almost instinctively.

“Alright.”
