Chapter 56.2
Editor: Princess
Before Tang Zhou could finish organizing his clothes, Fu Shen had already made breakfast.
So he had no choice but to abandon his task, head to the dining table and, without warning, planted a loud kiss on the corner of Fu Shen’s lips.
Fu Shen was once again left in a daze, completely lost.
Tang Zhou grinned as he sat down. “Thank you, boyfriend.”
Didn’t this guy doubt that he liked him? He had decided, he was going to kiss him every day until he believed it.
Fu Shen finished his food in a daze, and when washing the dishes, he almost shattered one.
Once Fu Shen was done tidying up, Tang Zhou leaned in and stole another kiss, and this time, he caught sight of Fu Shen’s reddened ears.
After their simple breakfast together, the two of them changed and took the elevator downstairs together.
Fu Shen took the initiative to ask, “Where are you going?”
“I’m going to meet a client.”
Fu Shen: “I’ll drop you off.”
“Okay.”
Fu Shen dropped Tang Zhou off. However he unbuckled his seatbelt but didn’t get out. Instead, he tilted his head and looked at him.
“What?” Fu Shen didn’t understand what he wanted.
Tang Zhou tapped his lips.
Fu Shen’s gaze suddenly darkened. And reaching out, he wrapped his hand around Tang Zhou’s nape, leaned in, and brushed his lips against his, just for a second before pulling away.
Tang Zhou looked at him. “That’s it?”
Fu Shen’s lips curved slightly. “Go see your client first.”
The rest, we’ll deal with later.
He watched Tang Zhou’s back as he walked away, only starting his car and heading to Deep Blue after he was completely out of sight.
As soon as he arrived at Deep Blue, he went straight into a meeting.
Fu Shen had always been sharp and efficient in meetings, his pace quick, never dragging things out unnecessarily.
But today was different.
After the Operations Department head finished his report, everyone waited for Fu Shen’s feedback. But instead, he just sat there, staring blankly in that direction… almost dazed.
The others exchanged glances, unsure what to do.
Liang Cheng spoke up at the right moment. “President Fu, should we continue?”
Fu Shen snapped back to reality and responded calmly, “Mhm. Next.”
The Operations Department head secretly let out a breath of relief. He thought he’d done something wrong.
After the meeting, everyone else left, except for Liang Cheng, Pi Xiu, and Li Fengyu, who stayed behind, waiting for Fu Shen.
Fu Shen sat there in a daze for a moment before finally standing up.
Liang Cheng said calmly, “Shen Ge, you spaced out three times during the meeting. Is something going on?”
Pi Xiu chimed in worriedly, “Shen Ge, if there’s a problem, let’s figure it out together. Don’t carry it all by yourself.”
Li Fengyu nodded. “We’re brothers. We’ll handle it together.”
Fu Shen: “…”
Handle it together? Yeah, no thanks.
He replied flatly, “Zoning out in the meeting was my mistake. I’m fine.”
And with that, he left the conference room without any expression.
Pi Xiu frowned. “That’s ‘fine’? He looked completely out of it.”
Li Fengyu suddenly had a wild thought. “Shen Ge… couldn’t have gotten dumped right?”
Pi Xiu: “Kind of looks like it! Think about it. He used to come and go on time. Sure, he’d space out sometimes, but his mood was still decent. But now? Skipping work in the morning, zoning out in meetings in the afternoon, it totally seems like heartbreak.”
The “heartbroken” Fu Shen sat in his office, holding a document blankly. After a while, his fingers unconsciously touched the corner of his lips.
A knock on the office door broke his trance.
He quickly adjusted his expression. “Come in.”
Liang Cheng and the other two walked in, closed the door behind them, and stood in a row in front of his desk, like they were about to interrogate him.
Pi Xiu was the first to speak. “Shen Ge, are you free after work?”
Fu Shen answered without thinking, “No.”
“…..”
Liang Cheng said, “No need to work yourself to death. We’re grabbing dinner after work. Want to come?”
Fu Shen didn’t even pause. “No.”
“…..”
Li Fengyu tried to appeal to his emotions. “Shen Ge, it’s been ages since we ate together. I kind of miss those street food stalls near our old school. Come with us? I remember you loved their osmanthus tangyuan.”
Fu Shen was about to refuse again, but something crossed his mind, so he hesitated then said, “I’ll think about it. I’ll let you know before we clock out.”
The three of them: “Alright!”
After they left, the office fell silent again.
Fu Shen picked up his phone, opened his chat app, and stared at the screen for a long time before finally typing a message to Tang Zhou: [I’m having dinner with Pi Xiu and the others tonight. Do you want to come?]
The moment he sent it, he regretted it and almost hit “unsend”, but then Tang Zhou’s reply popped up instantly.
[Sure.]
A rush of uncontrollable joy filled his chest, and the corners of his lips lifted.
His message had been half a test.
If Tang Zhou wasn’t serious about being with him, he would’ve definitely found an excuse to avoid meeting his friends.
He forced himself to stay calm, although his heart was pounding wildly. His hands trembled slightly as he typed: [I’ll pick you up after work.]
Tang Zhou: [I’ll wait for you.]
Fu Shen stared at the words [Sure] and [I’ll wait for you] over and over again. The excitement in his chest was impossible to contain, so he half-announced, half-showed off in their four-person group chat:
[Let’s go to Jin Yan for dinner tonight. I’m bringing someone.]
Pi Xiu: [Holy shit holy shit holy shit!!!]
Li Fengyu: [Is this what I think it is? Shocked emoji]
Liang Cheng: [Congrats.]
Fu Shen: [Thanks.]
Pi Xiu: [That ‘thanks’ has three parts jealousy and four parts flexing.]
Li Fengyu: [And the last three parts?]
Pi Xiu: [A critical hit against us three single losers.]
Liang Cheng: [Your pie chart analysis is on point.]
Pi Xiu: [So who’s our sister-in-law?]
Li Fengyu: [Yeah, spill the tea.]
Liang Cheng: [+1.]
Fu Shen’s gaze softened. [You’ll find out tonight.]
