Chapter 48.2

Editor: Jodi

The weather was cold, and everyone in the village was inside by their fires, so as they walked to Fu Shen’s house, they didn’t meet any neighbors.

Their shoes crunched on the snow beneath their feet.

Fu Shen walked quickly, his voice blending with the wind. “Why didn’t you send a message?”

Tang Zhou watched his expression secretly, then quietly replied, “I wanted to surprise you.”

Fu Shen didn’t say anything, and the silence in the quiet village felt even more intense, causing the tension to heighten.

Tang Zhou, cold and hungry after his long journey, had imagined that when he saw Fu Shen, he would get a big hug. There was no hug, fine—but couldn’t there at least be a smile?

But instead, Fu Shen barely spoke, walking so fast that it seemed as if he was he was avoiding him.

Tang Zhou’s teeth were chattering from the cold, with white puffs of breath escaping from his mouth, as if all the warmth inside him had been sucked away by the harsh northwest wind.

They walked for what felt like ages before they finally stopped in front of a house.

Tang Zhou no longer had the energy to notice what the house looked like— all he wanted to do was to get inside hurriedly to escape the wind.

Fu Shen parked the bike in the yard, then carried the suitcase and plastic bag into the house.

Tang Zhou followed behind him closely.

Once the door closed behind them, blocking out the cold wind, Fu Shen switched on the light, and the soft glow lit up the entire room. The house seemed to have some warmth to it, as it gradually chased the chill that had seeped into Tang Zhou’s bones away.

“Come here.”

Tang Zhou followed him into the inner room obediently and was just about to speak when Fu Shen pointed to what looked like a bed. “Get on the kang1a traditional heated bed first.”

Fu Shen was glad he had heated the kang before going out.

Tang Zhou blinked in confusion, then didn’t even have time to react before Fu Shen picked him up and placed him on the kang. Then he pulled his shoes off hurriedly then tucked his legs into the warm bedding.

So warm!

“Stay here, don’t move. I’m going to make dinner.” Fu Shen tossed these words over his shoulder as he lifted the curtain and walked out.

Tang Zhou: “……..”

He felt a little aggrieved.

However the heated bed was so comfortable, so he took his bulky down jacket off and couldn’t help but lie down, closing his eyes to feel the cold in his bones slowly being warmed bit by bit.

Fu Shen quickly made some noodles and almost burned his hand while serving them.

His mind was still full of the scene from earlier.

The young man wrapped in a large down jacket, standing in the cold, quiet snow, looking toward him against the wind. In that moment, he felt as if his eyes, heart, and mind were all filled with this one person.

It was like snow melting from the branches, river ice cracking open, and spring flowers blooming under the golden sunlight.

Until he fell to the ground.

Then those beautiful images vanished abruptly, leaving only the thin figure standing alone in the snow.

Fu Shen suppressed the surge of warmth and ache in his heart, then carried the bowl of noodles to the inner room.

The young man on the bed was curled up under the blankets, his face serene, the cold-induced paleness already replaced by a healthy flush.

Fu Shen looked at him for a moment, then afraid that the noodles would get cold, walked over to sit on the edge of the bed. “Baby.”

Tang Zhou opened his eyes, his light brown pupils shimmering slightly. “Fu Shen, your bed is so comfortable.”

Fu Shen: “…”

He felt that Tang Zhou must’ve been frozen silly. How could a heated brick bed be more comfortable than a soft, warm mattress?

With a smile tugging at his lips, he said gently, “Sit up and have some noodles first.”

Tang Zhou was completely nestled in the blankets. “I don’t want to move.”

Fu Shen grabbed a pillow to prop up his back. “Sit up and lean back, you don’t need to do anything.”

“Oh.”

Tang Zhou leaned back against the pillow lazily, his hands under the blankets clutching the edges of it tightly, not letting even a hint of cold air in.

Fu Shen picked up some noodles then brought them to his mouth.

Tang Zhou opened his mouth happily, and the warm noodles slid into his stomach, finally filling the emptiness a little.

The two worked together seamlessly, and in no time, the bowl of noodles was finished, leaving not a trace.

After eating, Tang Zhou perked up, his eyes wide as he asked, “Aren’t you eating?”

“I’ll go eat now.”

Tang Zhou looked at him longingly.

Fu Shen sighed softly, put the bowl and chopsticks down, took his shoes off, then climbed onto the bed, pulling both the blankets and Tang Zhou into his arms tightly.

He pressed a light kiss on Tang Zhou’s forehead. “I told you I’d be back after New Year’s Eve.”

Why come all the way here to make yourself suffer?

Tang Zhou leaned against his chest, one hand reaching out from under the blanket to touch his face, his eyes sparkling like stars.

“I missed you.”

Fu Shen stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly leaned down, kissing his face again and again, not leaving a single spot untouched.

He’d wanted to do this the moment he saw Tang Zhou.

His lips lingered at the corner of Tang Zhou’s mouth, unmoving.

Tang Zhou turned his head decisively, their lips meeting. Fu Shen let out a low groan from deep in his throat, then clutched the back of Tang Zhou’s neck tightly, like a starving wolf claiming its prey fiercely.

The cold of winter couldn’t extinguish the heat of their passion.

Tang Zhou felt the wildness in the man on top of him, something he had never experienced before.

Breathing raggedly, he managed to gasp, “Aren’t you going to eat your noodles?”

Right now, Fu Shen only wanted to leave his mark on him. He muttered vaguely, “Eat you.”

Tang Zhou clung to him, the corners of his eyes gradually turning red, a misty layer of moisture gathering in his gaze, his long, slender neck arching slightly as if he couldn’t handle the overwhelming sensation.

Then a soft whimper escaped him at the peak of it all.

Tang Zhou returned to earth from the heights, his vision a blur of white. When he came back to his senses, he saw Fu Shen wiping the corner of his mouth, looking like he was about to leave.

“What are you doing?” His voice was still a bit weak from the aftermath.

Fu Shen’s eyes darkened. “I didn’t prepare anything at home.”

Tang Zhou’s gaze was soft and moist. “There’s something in my suitcase.”

A burst of fireworks went off in Fu Shen’s heart, but he quickly suppressed his physical desire.

He kissed Tang Zhou’s fingertips, his touch as gentle as possible.

“Get some rest early. Tomorrow, we’ll make dumplings together.”

His sweet porridge was so good, but he couldn’t bear to take him in these circumstances.

He didn’t have the heart to rush it.
