Chapter 47.2

Tang Zhou really hated the cold.
And the short walk from the parking garage to home had left him shivering.
However the moment he stepped inside, the warmth of the house greeted him, causing him to sigh in relief, then closing his eyes in comfort, he mumbled, “Fu Shen.”
Fu Shen walked over and pulled him into a tight hug, cupping his icy hands in his own to warm them up.
The warmth seeped into Tang Zhou’s bones immediately.
And he nuzzled against Fu Shen’s neck, closing his eyes contentedly. “I’m so tired, I don’t want to move.”
Fu Shen scooped him up and took him over to the dining table. “Want some sweet rice dumplings?”
“En.”
Fu Shen picked up a snow-white sweet rice dumpling and brought it to Tang Zhou’s lips, making his already red lips look even more red and eye-catching.
Tang Zhou opened his mouth obediently, however just as he was about to bite, Fu Shen pulled it away and leaned in to plant a quick kiss on his lips before finally feeding him the sweet rice dumpling.
Tang Zhou, with the sweet rice dumpling still in his mouth, glared at him without much authority. “What are you doing?”
“I wanted to kiss you.” Fu Shen said with a casual smile, completely at ease.
Tang Zhou swallowed the sweet rice dumpling then, seeing the two bowls on the table, said, “I’ll eat by myself. You eat too.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“That’s wasteful.”
“Okay.”
However even though he agreed, Fu Shen still snatched a sweet rice dumpling from Tang Zhou’s bowl and popped it into his mouth.
Tang Zhou: “…”
However seeing the dark circles under Fu Shen’s eyes, he couldn’t bring himself to keep glaring at him.
“It’s been hard on you lately, right? With you juggling work and preparing for finals.”
Fu Shen shook his head. “Not really.”
He really didn’t feel tired. Even if his body was exhausted, his heart was completely content.
“There’s no need to rush with the project, your studies are more important.” Tang Zhou’s heart ached for him. He didn’t want him to overwork himself.
Pulling him into his arms, Fu Shen kissed his cheek and earlobe, then said in a low, magnetic voice, “I just want to start providing for my family sooner.”
Chuckling, Tang Zhou teased him, “I remember you won the national scholarship at the start of this semester, so you can already support your family.”
“It’s not enough.” Fu Shen’s arms tightened.
His sweet porridge deserved the best, and what he could do now was far from sufficient.
While the sweet rice dumplings were still warm, Tang Zhou ate another, then mumbled, “Are you going back to your hometown for the New Year?”
Fu Shen didn’t answer immediately. He thought for a moment, then he answered, “I plan to go back for a bit to visit my grandfather and mother.”
It was customary in their tradition to visit the graves during the Winter Solstice, and since he hadn’t been able to go back during the solstice because of work and school, he felt he had to return for the New Year.
Tang Zhou nodded. “When will you come back?”
“It depends.”
Fu Shen selfishly wanted to take Tang Zhou back with him to his hometown, however Long City was far north, where sub-zero temperatures were the norm in winter. What’s more his rural home didn’t even have heating, and Tang Zhou hated the cold. He couldn’t bear to let him suffer.
“Alright.”
Tang Zhou didn’t say anything else and finished his sweet rice dumplings quietly.

As the end of the year was approaching, Zhang Si Lin was reporting on the company’s progress, then when he was done he asked casually, “President Tang, will you be attending the company’s annual party?”
The party was scheduled for the day before the holiday, and everyone was pumped for it.
When Tang Zhou first took over the company, many people, although struck by his stunning looks, believed deep down that someone so young wouldn’t achieve much.
However in just six months, he had proven himself with outstanding results. Hence many employees now admired him and hoped he would show up at the annual party, even if it was just to say a few words.
It was typical for company leaders to attend the year-end party, but given Tang Zhou’s aloof personality and past rumors, many thought he wouldn’t participate.
Zhang Si Lin knew what the staff hoped for, which was why he brought it up casually.
Tang Zhou hesitated. He figured that as long as everyone was having fun and other executives were present, his attendance wasn’t necessary. He was just about to decline when Zhang Si Lin persuaded, “You could just say a few words to boost morale.”
Tang Zhou thought about it for a bit, then agreed.
And since Deep Blue wasn’t holding an annual party, by the time Tang Zhou attended his company’s event, Fu Shen was already on his way back home.
Unlike previous years, Fu Shen didn’t feel heavy-hearted about returning home this time.
Now that his blood relatives had been gone for years, he had found a new home, and more importantly, he had someone he loved the most.
What could bring him more happiness than that?
The high-speed train headed north, and the view outside the window gradually turned into a snow-covered landscape.
Fu Shen took a photo and sent it to Tang Zhou.
It took a while before he received a reply.
Sweet Porridge: It’s beautiful.
[Fu Shen]: Is the annual party over?
Sweet Porridge: I just finished my speech.
[Fu Shen]: Don’t drink alcohol.
Sweet Porridge: When will you be back?
[Fu Shen]: After New Year’s Eve, okay?
Tang Zhou didn’t reply again.
But Fu Shen just thought he was busy and didn’t think much of it.
At the scene of the annual party—
Zhang Si Lin saw Tang Zhou, then seeing him already putting on his coat and preparing to leave, he couldn’t help but ask, “You’re leaving already?”
Tang Zhou nodded, “I have something to take care of.”
Just as he finished saying this, his phone rang.
Tang Zhou’s expression remained indifferent, “Grandpa.”
Tang Zhihua, who was on the other end was quite cheerful, laughing as he asked, “It’s almost New Year’s, when are you coming to visit this old man?”
Tang Zhou continued walking towards the exit while speaking.
“I won’t be coming home for New Year this year.”
Tang Zhihua’s mood dampened as if he’d been doused with cold water, “Ah Zhou, what are you trying to do?”
Even rebellion had its limits. Not coming home for New Year? What kind of behavior was that!
Tang Zhou laughed, “Isn’t it good enough with Tang Zhen and Tang Tianyang accompanying you? Grandpa, I have other things to take care of.”
His attitude was so calm—so calm that it sent a chill down Tang Zhihua’s spine.
There was no anger, no resentment. It was just a simple statement, but it chilled Tang Zhihua to his core.
It was only now that he really realized that the grandson he had raised with his own hands was drifting further and further away from him.
“Ah Zhou, what could possibly be more important than coming home?”
“And what could possibly be more important than my lifelong happiness?”
After Tang Zhou’s retort, he ended the call decisively.
However his phone rang again, and frowning, he was just about to cut the call when he saw the name “Lu Ye” on the screen. He answered it.
“Tang Zhou, are you coming to the movie premiere?”
Tang Zhou politely declined, “It’s fine, as long as you’re there.”
“You’re really not coming? This is the first movie you’ve invested in. Don’t you want to see how it turned out?”
Tang Zhou sat in his car, fastening his seatbelt. “I have something else to take care of.”
“What kind of thing?”
Tang Zhou replied seriously, “Going to meet the elders.”
“What elders?”
Tang Zhou smiled, “I’ll tell you later, I need to drive now.”
He was planning to give someone a surprise.
After hanging up, he started the car, his destination—
Jiang City Airport.
