Chapter 47.1

Editor: Jodi

The quarterly report was presented to Tang Zhou at the end of December, and after he reviewed it carefully, he couldn’t help but show a faint smile.

“Very good.”

Zhang Si Lin also beamed. “President Tang, it seems our new model is really a success. Everyone can have a great New Year!”

There was still over a month until the New Year, however after a year of hard work, the Spring Festival holiday was an irresistible draw for the employees.

Tang Zhou was a little stunned. Time really flew by quickly.

In previous years, Old Man Tang would always call Tang Zhen and Zheng Qiuyi back home, then the four of them would have a New Year’s Eve dinner that looked harmonious on the surface but was completely devoid of any real familial warmth.

However now that Zheng Qiuyi and Tang Zhen were divorced and Tang Tianyang had entered the Tang family, Tang Zhou didn’t want to go back home for the holiday this year.

He wondered what Fu Shen’s plans were.

“President Tang?”

Tang Zhou nodded as he came back to himself, “The year-end bonuses can’t be reduced. Let everyone have a good New Year.”

“Thank you, President Tang!”

Zhang Si Lin left the office happily.

The report from Hua Yue was exhilarating. In comparison, the sales figures from the Tang Group wasn’t impressive.

It wasn’t that Tang Tianyang hadn’t tried hard, and it wasn’t that he hadn’t come up with new ideas. It was that after the bankruptcy of Ying Teng last time, his voice in the company held much less weight than before.

The senior executives, who were of the same generation as Old Man Tang, disliked anything new, as if a new strategy failed during implementation, who would bear the cost of their losses?

Moreover, the company’s internal factions were deeply rooted, so much so that where there were supporters, there were naturally also opponents.

So, Tang Tianyang hadn’t managed to carve out a new path. Instead, he found himself trapped within the Tang Group—a ship that was sinking slowly beneath the tides of modernity.

This ship was so cumbersome and unwieldy that even the most skilled captain wouldn’t be able to change its course.

The rapid rise of Hua Yue burned Tang Tianyang’s heart.

And Tang Zhihua, was also not satisfied when he saw the report.

For the better part of the year, his feelings had been complex and hard to describe.

At first, he had been upset, and then disappointed by Tang Zhou’s rebellion. Then later, he felt helpless as Tang Zhou supported Hua Yue, then regretful after Tang Zhou’s failure with Ying Teng. But in the end, he was surprised and impressed by Tang Zhou’s brilliant comeback.

He suddenly realized that he had never really understood the grandson he had raised and taught himself.

Tang Zhou was much more exceptional than he had imagined.

In comparison, Tang Tianyang was indeed much more inferior.

If only Tang Zhou hadn’t left the Tang family, if only he were now leading the Tang Group— it would have definitely painted a different picture.

Letting out a long sigh, he asked Uncle Fang once more, “Am I really getting senile?”

Uncle Fang smiled helplessly. “Chairman, we are the old wave, so we have to give the new wave a chance.”

As an outsider, he saw things clearly.

Hua Yue’s success was a model that couldn’t be replicated in the Tang Group—at least not in its current state.

The only way for it to have a new beginning, was through a rebirth from its ashes.

Tang Zhou had taken full control of Hua Yue with thunderous actions, turning it into a place where his word was law. Which made it so that without anyone holding him back, he could implement his plans completely and efficiently.

If he were to manage the Tang Group, it might not be so easy for him to succeed.

Timing, location, and people all had to align perfectly. Not one element could be missing.

Tang Zhihua shook his head with a smile, “It seems this old wave can’t rest easy just yet. After all, the new wave isn’t strong enough.”

Uncle Fang understood that he was referring to Tang Tianyang. However he just smiled and didn’t say anything.

Tang Zhihua continued, “The New Year is coming soon. Have Ah Zhou come back for dinner. His heart’s been wild while he’s been out there that he hasn’t been home in half a year.”

Uncle Fang thought to himself: I don’t think Young Master Zhou will return.

The end of the year was the busiest time for any company. Although Hua Yue had achieved some success, there was still no room for complacency.

Tang Zhou finally wrapped up his day’s work at 9 p.m, then as he was massaging his sore shoulders, he saw his phone light up.

Fu Shen: Are you off work?

Tang Zhou smiled, and even the cold, empty office felt a bit warmer.

[Tang Zhou]: I just finished. What about you?

Fu Shen: I just left the office. Do you want a late-night snack?

[Tang Zhou]: I want to eat sweet rice dumplings.

On the way home from Deep Blue, Fu Shen happened to pass Jiang University.

And at around 9 p.m., the street food stalls outside the university were bustling with activity, with the steam rising from the stalls adding a bit of warmth to the chilly winter night.

When Fu Shen appeared at the sweet rice dumpling stall, the vendor actually recognized him immediately and greeted him warmly. “Young man! Long time no see.”

“Hmm, I’ve been busy lately. Two orders, please.”

The vendor dropped the dumplings into boiling water quickly, and as they waited, he made small talk with Fu Shen. “Is the other order for your friend?”

Fu Shen smiled, and amidst the swirling steam, an endless warmth radiated from him. “Yes, he said he was craving some.”

“That young man doesn’t look like an ordinary person either. You two will definitely achieve great things in the future!”

Fu Shen was a regular at the stall, so the owner was familiar with him. What’s more he’d brought Tang Zhou here before, and with both of them having very striking appearances, it was hard for one to forget them, so it made perfect sense that the owner would remember them.

“Thank you boss, your business will definitely prosper as well.”

Then Fu Shen took the two portions of sweet rice dumplings and rode home quickly, hurrying to avoid letting the cold night wind chill the food.

He arrived home just moments before Tang Zhou did.

The once piping hot sweet rice dumplings had cooled to just the right temperature in the chilly wind, perfect for eating.
