Chapter 18.2

Editor: Jodi

“Brat, bad egg.” Ning Sheng struggled to lift his legs, scolding as he walked, “What have I done to deserve this from you!”

Sweat soaked his black hair, dripping down to his cheeks and breathing lightly he bit his lip, feeling he had reached his limit: “Please…”

Just one step away from Xu Ling but Ning Sheng was finally exhausted, nearly collapsing to the ground.

Lunging over, Xu Ling wrapped his arms around him.

“Ning Ning.” He called out to him.

Ning Sheng hugged Xu Ling’s neck, and his hand that had been raised to beat him fell weakly, patting the side of Xu Ling’s cheek lightly.

“What on earth are you trying to do?” Ning Sheng’s voice trembled with fear, “There are so many fun things to do, why do you have to play with me!”

“Ning Ning.” Xu Ling patted his shoulder, “You can walk!”

Ning Sheng was stunned, then rested his head on Xu Ling’s shoulder.

Xu Ling supported him and together they completed the last few steps.

“Are you crazy?” Ning Sheng continued, “You can’t do this again next time. It’s not fun at all, do you understand?”

“Next time, you’ll be able to walk even further.” Xu Ling said in response.

Ning Sheng: “?”

Ning Sheng: “Don’t….”

“Ning Ning, come and fish for shrimp.” Xu Ling pushed him into the wheelchair.

Ning Sheng: “……”

Alright, he would let it be for now.

Xu Ling had just been impulsive and he would forget it by tomorrow, so there was no need for him to pursue it.

And with this thought in mind, Ning Sheng felt relieved.

His legs were sore, but while grumbling about Xu Ling being overbearing, he took a fishing rod then was pushed by Xu Ling to the pond to fish for shrimp.

And holding the fishing rod, Ning Sheng sat by the water while Xu Ling ran off to buy him some maltose from a roadside stall.

“I’ll forgive you reluctantly.” Ning Sheng said magnanimously.

Qing’an Town was really nice, even the snacks had a special fragrance.

The shrimp weren’t biting today, so Ning Sheng, clutching his fishing rod, didn’t catch anything all afternoon and was so annoyed that he refused to leave until Xu Ling’s mom came to call them by the pond.

Dinner was at Xu Ling’s house, where Xu Ling’s mom had bought groceries and asked Xu Ling to help with the cooking.

Ning Sheng, sitting on an old sofa, was watching Xu Ling wash the vegetables whiles simultaneously watching a parenting program on TV—

“The primary school stage is crucial. It’s important to cultivate children’s interest in learning.” An old expert adjusted his glasses, “You should give children some rewards appropriately to stimulate their enthusiasm and interest in learning….”

Ning Sheng listened intently.

Raising Xu Ling, should be done professionally.

Halfway through listening, he turned and found Xu Ling also staring intently at the TV.

Ning Sheng: “?” What are you watching, do you understand it?

The program had switched to a chocolate cake advertisement.

Ning Sheng: “……”

Oh, Xu Ling wants to eat chocolate cake?

Fine, he’ll prepare more rewards for Xu Ling in the future. This will definitely increase his enthusiasm for learning.

“I’ll help you wash.” Ning Sheng said, graciously lowering himself to help.

Xu Ling handed over a leafy vegetable and Ning Sheng started looking at it carefully when he saw a small green worm resting on it.

He screamed: “Take it away!”

Xu Ling handed over another piece.

Ning Sheng: “It’s so dirty, did you pick it from the mud?”

Xu Ling: “……”

“Then princess, you just sit there and cheer.” Xu Ling told him.

“You’re just washing vegetables and you want someone to cheer. Do you deserve it?” Ning Sheng said.

Xu Ling: “……”

He banged his head against the wooden table with a loud thud.

“Little Bell, don’t be mean to Ning Ning.” Xu Ling’s mom, hearing the noise, peeked out and handed Ning Sheng a basket of peeled peanuts, “Help me rub off the peanut skins.”

Ning Sheng was more than happy to help, fully feeling his value in this family.

“Was S City fun?” Xu Ling’s mom asked during dinner.

Xu Ling shook his head, and Ning Sheng also shook his head.

“What’s going on, you two?” Xu Ling’s mom chuckled, “When I went to S City back then I really liked it.”

Xu Ling: “We mountain pigs aren’t used to eating fine chaff.”

Ning Sheng: “En.”

Ning Sheng: “? You’re the mountain pig.”

Xu Ling: “Yes, yes.”

“You two, really…” Xu Ling’s mom laughed, “I thought you didn’t get along, but it turns out you have a good relationship.”

Ning Sheng: “Not at all, it’s not good at all.”

“Our Ning Ning is a very good child.” Xu Ling’s mom started, “Little Bell, Ning Ning is a few months younger than you, so in the future you have to take good care of your little brother Ning Ning. Don’t bully him, okay?”

“It’s me who takes care of him.” Ning Sheng stressed, “He only knows how to cause me trouble.”

“Thank you, I’ll cause you even more trouble in the future.” Xu Ling said, looking very pleased.

Ning Sheng: “?” There’s no need.

The next day, Ning Sheng’s troubles continued.

Because he had just gotten off the swing when Xu Ling kicked his wheelchair away again.

And this time, he stood about thirty meters away.

“Ning Ning, come here quickly!” Xu Ling shook the sugar cake that was in his hand, “Come over and I’ll give you this to eat!”

Ning Sheng: “……”

Eat shit, I’m going to twist your dog head off.
