Chapter 11.2

The child with delicate features was sitting in the wheelchair, head lowered, eyes red from crying, and his sleeves were damp from tears, looking very pitiful.

“Bullying a child in a wheelchair, really shameless.”

“He was just making a ruckus a moment ago.”

“Teach your child some manners. At a glance you can tell that the parents don’t have the right qualities.”

“If you can’t control your child, then don’t have one.”

Whispers circulated around them.

Not long after, the pretentious child was immediately whisked away by his father.

Ning Sheng wiped his tears away expressionlessly.

This tactic worked well– a quick and decisive victory.

“Push me over there.” Ning Sheng pointed to the chicken leg stall.

Seeing Xu Ling staring at him with a “who am I and where am I” look on his face, Ning Sheng urged, “Hurry up!”

The wheelchair moved somewhat reluctantly.

Ning Sheng took out some banknotes from his backpack that had a pair of tiny wings and handed it to the vendor.

“I want ten.” he said.

He kept one for himself and handed the rest to Xu Ling.

“Princess.” Lu Peng was practically drooling, “Anyone who buys a chicken leg for 30 bucks is stupid…”

“Say that again and I’ll rip your mouth apart.” Ning Sheng turned his head.

“Eat up!” He told Xu Ling, “Stay away from me, don’t get oil on my clothes.”

Eating chicken legs in an amusement park and eating them at home were different experiences.

It wasn’t about being stupid, it was about savoring a little extra happiness, so that when one looked back in the future, one would remember the desires that were satisfied at that moment.

Besides, Ning Sheng had some pocket money.

The line of visitors continued to move forward.

Xu Ling, carrying a large bag of chicken legs, became the most conspicuous student in the class.

“Give me one, Xu Ge.” Lu Peng followed Xu Ling closely. “Even the zoo’s tigers don’t eat as well as you.”

Xu Ling replied, “Then why don’t you ask the tigers for some?”

Lu Peng: “…”

In the end, Lu Peng and Li Haoyue each took three chicken legs.

Compared to their wolfing down, Ning Sheng ate with a particular elegance and quietness, as if he was savoring each bite, nibbling gently.

“Ning Sheng.” A voice came from behind him.

“Did you hurt your head?” Ning Sheng asked, “Calling me that so unfamiliarly.”

“Princess?”

Ning Sheng: “Don’t call me that outside!”

“Why did you buy chicken legs for me?” He heard Xu Ling asking.

“Hmph…” Ning Sheng’s cheeks reddened slightly, “It’s just… just giving you a little favor. Don’t think too much.”

“This favor of yours, the meat is a bit tough.” Xu Ling told him.

Ning Sheng: “…”

After watching the monkeys, the second-grade students from Golden Sun Primary School took a temporary break by some amusement rides.

Lu Peng was the first to rush to the seesaw.

The math nerd, chewing on a pencil in his mouth couldn’t get down from the high end of the seesaw that Lu Peng had lifted.

“Add one with a weight greater than yours…” Li Haoyue said after calculating mentally.

“Put the princess on to weigh it!” Lu Peng shouted at them.

“I’m not going.” Ning Sheng replied.

A pair of hands wrapped around his waist, then lifted him up from the comfort of his wheelchair.

“What are you doing? What are you doing? I’m not going!” His hands flailed, “Who wants to play something so childish.”

Xu Ling set him down on another end of the seesaw.

The Little Devil King jumped in place, took a few steps, then thudded onto the other end, making it rock up and down.

Ning Sheng was almost catapulted off, but he held on firmly onto the handles.

In that moment, he felt like he saw the Devil King’s smile.

“Put me down!” He shouted loudly, “Xu Ling, you jerk.”

This was more extreme than his usual wheelchair drifting; he had never played something this thrilling.

The red cap provided by the school fell off, and Ning Sheng’s slightly long black hair was tousled by the wind.

The teacher leading the group raised her hand and gave Xu Ling a second bump.

Ning Sheng puffed and huffed as he came down from the seesaw, his legs weak as he walked back to his wheelchair, then he pushed himself away angrily.

“Was it fun?” The Little Devil King caught up with him, grinning as mischievously as usual, and nudged his head.

“Go away.” Ning Sheng replied.

“Really not fun?” Xu Ling pushed again, “Ning Ning?”

Ning Sheng: “Give me back my chicken leg!”

In an instant flash of black, Xu Ling put the hat he had retrieved back on Ning Sheng’s head.

Ning Sheng didn’t want to talk to Xu Ling today.

“Xu Ling! Come and play in the sand!” Lu Peng called from a distance.

“What’s so fun about sand?” Xu Ling said, “Come here, I’ll help you build a stone tower.”

Lu Peng: “I just knew you are the one who knows how to play.”

Ning Sheng watched with wide eyes as the Little Devil King managed to attract even more people in less time.

He was really raising him well. Xu Ling’s charisma was becoming stronger.

There was a zoo-themed souvenir shop by the road, and there was a large countryside dog tied up by the entrance.

Pushing himself a few steps, Ning Sheng sent himself over.

The big dog raised itself and placed its two dirty paws on his legs.

“Did you wash your feet?” Ning Sheng asked.

The dog didn’t understand and even left a bit of drool on his leg, just as annoying as Xu Ling.

Ning Sheng went into the shop for a stroll.

About ten minutes later, Xu Ling, who had been building with stones, looked around and stood up. Then he entered the souvenir shop, pushed Ning Sheng out, and stopped at the edge of the sandbox.

“I don’t want to play with stones!” Ning Sheng huffed.

“I’ll pick a pretty one for you.” Xu Ling said.

“Xu Ling, don’t bully Ning Sheng.” The teacher leading the group came over and scolded. “What’s wrong with you today? Do you want to write another self-critique?”

“It’s okay.” Ning Sheng tugged on the teacher’s sleeve. “It’s not bullying, he’s always like this.”

“Yes, teacher.” Li Haoyue said, “Xu Ling is Ning Sheng’s dog.”

The teacher leading the group didn’t quite understand this relationship but once she made sure that Ning Sheng was safe, she didn’t intervene further.

“Come here.” Ning Sheng waved to Xu Ling, “I just bought this, but I don’t want it. It’s for you.”

Li Haoyue: “Is it a math problem?”

Ning Sheng had bought Xu Ling an Ultraman costume, which he thought was so ugly that it burned his hands.

He pushed the paper bag containing the costume into Xu Ling’s hands.

“No need to thank me.” Ning Sheng said.
