Chapter 48.1

Editor: Princess

Lu Peng was stunned, halting mid-push-up and dropping to the ground.

“You hit me?” Ning Sheng sat on the ground, holding his head in disbelief. “Xu Ling, you actually dare to hit me.”

Xu Ling: “…It wasn’t intentional.”

“Your hand definitely moved.” Lu Peng said softly in the dorm. “You zoomed over to push the door and bang, you hit princess.”

“When I said we’d be done as friends, it was a warning, not an announcement!” Ning Sheng was on the verge of tears.

It was… pretty painful. His head hurt, his butt hurt, and even his mindset hurt.

“I said earlier today that this door opens outward and to be careful.” Lu Peng said. “Dog Xu even called me stupid.”

Xu Ling: “I don’t think that was me saying that.”

Xu Ling: “I also didn’t expect him to be right outside the door. He just said he was on the African savanna.”

“You guys…” Ning Sheng said, “aren’t even planning to help me up?!”

Xu Ling: “…”

“I’m sorry.” Xu Ling bent down to help him up. “I’ll take you to the infirmary to get checked.”

The dorm manager heard the commotion and came out to take a stroll.

“I told you.” The dorm manager said solemnly. “Dorm duties should be arranged properly. See? Now you’re fighting.”

Ning Sheng: “…”

“It was an accident, an accident.” Xu Ling emphasized.

“The last time I was this badly injured was on my aunt’s film set.” Ning Sheng mumbled while riding on Xu Ling’s back.

“Why were you standing outside the door sending messages instead of coming in?” Xu Ling quickened his pace.

Ning Sheng: “Are you blaming the victim?”

Xu Ling: “I’ll shut up.”

The math nerd had temporarily served as a teacher for the school’s math competition group, teaching interested students math problems all evening. He was in high spirits and was now walking back to the dorm with the math representative from the neighboring class, both carrying books.

The night path was dark. The classmate from the neighboring class pointed to a small grove: “What are those people doing?”

Three people were darting along the forest path.

Person 1 was carrying Person 2 on his back, and Person 3 was holding a flashlight to illuminate the way.

Person 2’s head hit a low-hanging branch: “Ah!”

Person 3: “Holy crap!”

Neighboring class student: “…”

Li Haoyue: “…”

Now four people were darting along the forest path.

“Ning Ning, are you okay?” Li Haoyue caught up and asked Ning Sheng.

“I think he might be trying to kill me.” Ning Sheng said.

Xu Ling: “…”

Lu Peng: “Should I carry him instead? Dog Xu is too tall.”

“You two are about the same height. Maybe I should do it.” The math nerd said.

“No, let him carry me. Don’t let him off easy.” Ning Sheng said.

The forest path was the shortest route to the school infirmary.

Two minutes later, the four of them arrived.

This was much more spacious and professional than their middle school infirmary.

“You were hit by a door?” The school doctor paused. “Twice?”

Xu Ling’s gaze drifted toward the ceiling.

“It’s okay, just some minor swelling and redness.” The doctor removed two leaves from Ning Sheng’s hair. “Are you dizzy?”

Ning Sheng shook his head.

“I’ll disinfect it and apply some medicine.” The doctor said. “Your palm is scratched. I’ll bandage it for you.”

The doctor: “Does it hurt anywhere else?”

Ning Sheng’s butt hurt the most, but he said no.

The cool medicine swept across his palm, causing Ning Sheng to frown slightly at the sting.

Having suffered too much in his childhood and then being spoiled by his grandmother, he had always been afraid of pain and bitterness, disliking the smell of these medicines.

Xu Ling was waiting for a scolding, but when he looked over, he saw Ning Sheng stretching his hand forward, letting the doctor treat it.

The teenager had his head lowered, his black hair obedient, two small white bandages on his forehead, long eyelashes shielding his gaze, his eyes somewhat empty, his light-colored lips slightly parted, his dejected appearance adding several degrees of alluring charm to his usual appearance.

Xu Ling’s heart suddenly contracted.

Ning Sheng’s free hand held up his phone, took a selfie, and sent it to his father.

Ning: Me, pitiful, card.

Dad: Restoring it right away.

Xu Ling: “…”

“Other hand.” The doctor said.

Ning Sheng extended his hand, giving Xu Ling a fierce glance.

After the bandaging was done, the three boys efficiently helped the doctor clean up the room, carried Ning Sheng, and left quickly.

“Does it still hurt?” Lu Peng asked.

Ning Sheng: “Yes.”

“Where did you go to play tonight?” Lu Peng asked again.

“I went to a concert with Bai Ming from our class.” Ning Sheng said.

Lu Peng: “So high-class. Us country boys have never been.”

“That’s the laboratory.” Li Haoyue stood at the intersection. “Xu Ling, you’re going the wrong way.”

Lu Peng: “Are you trying to experiment on princess?”

Xu Ling: “…”

Xu Ling: “Sorry.”

“Your dorm is quite united.” The dorm manager said, watching the four return together.

“We’ve been together since kindergarten.” Lu Peng said proudly. “The kind that used the bathroom together when we were little.”

“The dorm manager is almost asleep.” Li Haoyue said. “And he’s still chatting with him.”

Xu Ling: “His head must have been squeezed by the door.”

Xu Ling: “…”

Xu Ling: “Sorry.”

“Did you grow up stepping on landmines? You hit every target.” Even the math nerd couldn’t bear it anymore.

“Ning Ning.” Xu Ling opened the door and placed him on the bed to sit. “I really didn’t mean it.”

Ning Sheng pointed to the band-aids on his head: “You wanted to do it on purpose?”

Xu Ling: “…”

“Just check our chat history.” Ning Sheng said.

Xu Ling checked.

Ning Sheng had said one more annoyance and they’d be done as friends.

“Anyway, you don’t want to pay attention to me, so it works out for you.” Ning Sheng said.

Xu Ling: “I don’t not want to pay attention to you.”

“Not sitting in the same row on the bus, not helping me with homework, telling Lu Peng not to spoil me.” Ning Sheng listed. “I’m glad you’re happy.”

“Is your mouth a sieve?” Xu Ling asked Lu Peng.

“Hehe.” Lu Peng grinned sheepishly.

“So you went out with Bai Ming and the others because I wasn’t around?” Xu Ling asked.

“It’s because this young master wanted to play.” Ning Sheng said coldly.

Xu Ling: “What’s so interesting about symphony music? Just a bunch of people forced to sit.”

“Of course it’s not interesting to a country dog.” Ning Sheng said.

Xu Ling: “…”

Oh no, he’s really angry.

“Let’s sleep.” Ning Sheng said. “This young master will move out next week.”

The dorm lights went out.
