Chapter 34.1

Editor: Jodi

Ning Sheng squatted in front of the pigpen in Xu Ling’s yard, feeling quite down.

Xu Ling wasn’t in a good mood either, because Ning Sheng kept looking at the pigs, then at him, and then sighing.

This cycle was repeated several times.

“I’ll grow up to be quite good-looking.” Xu Ling couldn’t help but say.

Ning Sheng: “?”

Ning Sheng: “What are you thinking? You’re comparing yourself to a pig?”

Xu Ling: “……”

“Then why are you staring at me?” Xu Ling asked, “It’s making me nervous.”

“Did you guys swap out my pig?” Ning Sheng asked him.

Xu Ling: “You can’t even recognize your own pig?”

“It’s not as if it has my name written on it.” Ning Sheng said in response.

Xu Ling: “This is your pig!”

“Why are you so worked up?” Ning Sheng asked, “Feeling guilty about something?”

Xu Ling: “I…”

Xu Ling took a deep breath.

“Dear visitor, what we have here is the pigpen. Over by the trough, enjoying a meal, is Pei Pei.” Xu Ling narrated in a calm, professional tone. “And the one rolling around is Qi Qi, your favorite.”

“Are you being sarcastic?” Ning Sheng turned his head.

Xu Ling: “I’m going to find some needle and thread.”

“For what?” Ning Sheng asked.

“To sew my mouth shut.” Xu Ling replied.

Group Chat Three Golden Suns Rising Secretly

Ling: My head’s about to be chewed off by Princess.

Math is so great, I love math: Because you stepped into the yard front foot first?

Ling: Because I have two feet.

Ling: If I’d known he wouldn’t recognize them, I would’ve just bought two new pigs and swapped them out.

Ling: I really want to cover his mouth.

Math is so great, I love math: Just let him rant. You’re only losing your dignity, whereas he’s lost two little piglets.

[AAA Premium Piglet Wholesale]: Ask Princess to come out and play and he’ll forget about it soon.

The tractor passed by Car Wash City, carrying a heartbroken Ning Sheng.

“Just four months, and they grew from this size to that?” Ning Sheng gestured with his hands.

“Yeah, they grow fast, otherwise my dad would lose money.” Lu Peng told him.

“Look on the bright side.” Li Haoyue added, “With New Year’s coming up, your family won’t even need to buy meat. You can just eat Pei Qi.”

Ning Sheng: “???”

“I raised them with so much care!” Ning Sheng said, sad.

Xu Ling: “I’m the one who raised them. The most you did was drop by every so often, and I was the one who handled all the pick-ups and drop-offs… Ow, don’t step on my foot!”

Xu Ling: “Alright, alright, you raised them.”

“They can’t be eaten.” Ning Sheng decided. “This young master can afford to raise them, and this young master will give them a comfortable retirement.”

Ning Sheng: “Once you’ve named something, you get attached to it. Since I raised them, I won’t abandon them.”

“Dog Xu? Why are you grinning so much?” Lu Peng asked.

“Then just take your mind off it, and you’ll forget soon.” Li Haoyue suggested. “Or you could work on a set of Forgetfulness Problems.”

“I won’t.” Ning Sheng said. “You and I aren’t even the same species.”

Li Haoyue: “……”

“You treat pigs better than you treat me.” The math nerd said sadly.

“Why are you also comparing yourself to pigs!” Ning Sheng retorted.

The math nerd grabbed Ning Sheng’s hand. “Ning Ning, you do care about me.”

“You’re insulting pigs.” Ning Sheng pulled his hand away.

Lu Peng avoided any and all trouble by keeping quiet, at least until Ning Sheng stepped foot into the market fair.

“Why are there… so many pigs?” Ning Sheng was stunned.

Lu Peng chuckled sheepishly. “Guess why my dad wanted to come here.”

Ning Sheng: “……”

“This is basically a New Year’s market fair.” Xu Ling told him, holding his hand to keep him from getting lost. “There are not just pigs but also cows, sheep, chickens, and ducks. It’s just that there are a few more pigs than usual.”

“You guys must be trying to make fun of me.” Ning Sheng accused. “How dare you rub salt in my wounds.”

Xu Ling: “……”

“You practically threw me into a salt can to pickle me out— did I say anything?” Xu Ling asked.

Ning Sheng: “Aren’t you flapping your mouth right now?”

Ning Sheng: “Didn’t you say you were going to sew your mouth shut? Where exactly did you sew it? Was it really your mouth?”

“Found it!” Lu Peng pointed to a stall not far away happily. “That’s the one—the grilled pork belly is super tasty.”

“Hmm?” Ning Sheng, whose wrist had just been grabbed by Xu Ling, turned his head slowly. “Pork belly, which part of the pig is that?”

“The part they use to repay kindness.” Lu Peng drooled. “You guys find a place to sit, I’ll go buy some.”

Lu Peng: “Dog Xu, give me some money.”

Xu Ling fished a bill out of his pocket and handed it to him.

“I’m not going to eat it.” Ning Sheng told them.

Xu Ling: “Buy more, Princess won’t eat.”

Ning Sheng: “?”

“I’ll go buy a beggar’s chicken.” The math nerd also reached out for money.

The mention of chicken brought back more sad memories for Ning Sheng.

His beautiful little chick had also grown up.

“Stop raising those random things.” Xu Ling, sensing his thoughts, told him. “Dogs are the most reliable.”

A stray dog walked past them, lifting its head as it did so.

Ning Sheng: “Are you trying to put gold on your face?”

Xu Ling: “Do I make it look good?”

“Hold these for me.” Xu Ling handed him a large bundle of woven leaf toys. “Wait for me here, I’ll go buy you something to eat.”

Ning Sheng: “Oh. You’re not taking me with you?”

Lifting his hand, Xu Ling pointed to the crowded area in front of him.

Ning Sheng: “My eyes will go with you.”

Xu Ling chuckled and reached out to pinch his cheek.

Ning Sheng: “Mmm… You jerk!”

However Xu Ling had already slipped through to the other side of the crowd.
