Ning Sheng leaned against the bedroom door, the sudden emotional outburst leaving his legs somewhat weak. He slid down bit by bit until he was sitting on the carpet.

Upstairs in the bedroom, the more Ning Sheng thought about it, the angrier and more guilty he became.

If he’d known it would turn out like this, he might as well have let Xu Ling grow up on his own.

But the time they’d spent in Qing’an Town didn’t seem fake. Both he and Xu Ling had been happier than before.

They had grown up together, so no matter what, he couldn’t abandon Xu Ling.

Someone knocked on the bedroom door.

“Scram.” Ning Sheng said.

Door: “It’s me, the math nerd.”

Ning Sheng: “……I don’t care what kind of nerd you are, you can’t come in.”

Ning Sheng opened the door, and the math nerd handed him a test paper.

The math nerd: “Monthly exam questions I made for the affiliated high school. Twenty percent pass rate, pretty funny, right? Hahahaha.”

“You should be more careful walking alone at night.” Ning Sheng sincerely advised.

Ning Sheng: “Alright, you can scram now.”

Ning Sheng slammed the door and threw out a bag of something.

The math nerd, having received a big gift bag of snacks, quickly scurried away. However as he passed through downstairs, Xu Ling robbed him of more than half of it.

There was a new message on his phone—

“Where’s princess?” Lu Peng looked around. “He said he’d help me rank up tonight.”

Lu Peng didn’t find anyone and hummed a tune.

Lu Peng met the math nerd in the hallway.

“I ate mushrooms at dinner tonight.” Lu Peng told him. “I won’t get poisoned, will I? I think I just saw bullet comments floating above Dog Xu’s head.”

The math nerd: “……”

The math nerd: “Oyster mushrooms aren’t poisonous.”

The math nerd: “But he probably does have bullet comments right now.”
