The next day was the weekend. Even before school was out in the evening, Ning Sheng’s car was already parked by the school gate, drawing the attention of quite a few passersby.
Ning Sheng held a bag of wafer biscuits, occasionally turning to feed one to Xu Ling.
“Where’s Lu Peng?” He asked.
“Still stuck doing punishment copywriting. He hasn’t finished yet.” Xu Ling said. “He told us to go ahead.”
Ning Sheng: “Useless. Then what are we waiting for?!”
Xu Ling pulled open the car door and tossed Ning Sheng’s school bag inside.
Ning Sheng: “Go help him copy it!”
Xu Ling let go of the car door and laughed.
“I just knew you wouldn’t just leave him.” He said.
“Yeah, right.” Ning Sheng glared. “It’s because he talks too much, keeping me too distracted to even get carsick.”
In Lu Peng’s classroom, five students were stuck doing punishment copywriting.
“We’re doomed. This is going to take all night.” Student No.1 said miserably.
“The teacher’s waiting in the office.” Student No.2 said.
There was a knock on the classroom window. Xu Ling reached out, and Lu Peng passed him a few sheets of paper.
By the stairs, Xu Ling and Li Haoyue sat on the ground, scribbling furiously, while Ning Sheng leaned against the railing, munching on biscuits.
“Hurry up.” Ning Sheng tapped the ground next to Xu Ling with the tip of his shoe.
Xu Ling: “You’re real eager, huh? Yet you’re not lifting a finger.”
Not long after, the window next to Lu Peng slid open just a crack, and a few completed punishment sheets were tossed in.
Then under the envious and resentful gazes of his classmates, Lu Peng went to turn in his work.
The Maybach left the bustling city behind, heading straight for the countryside.
Night fell, and Ning Sheng lifted his gaze sleepily and saw the distant lights of Qing’an Town.
The car pulled up in front of Xu Ling’s family’s car wash.
“Let Auntie see if you’ve grown taller?” Auntie Xu was cleaning up the car wash when she saw the car door open and walked over.
Xu Ling squatted down skillfully, making it easier for her to compare.
“You’ve grown this much.” Auntie Xu gestured.
Ning Sheng clung to her arm happily, ranting about all the ways Xu Ling had been over the line at school.
Xu Ling’s stepdad walked over, wiped motor oil off his hands then handed Ning Sheng a plate of freshly washed lychees.
Group Chat Four Golden Suns
[AAA Premium Piglet Wholesale]: Help, my parents are fighting.
[AAA Premium Piglet Wholesale]: My dad insisted on delivering the pigs himself on his electric scooter and crashed into my mom’s fruit tree that she’s been growing for two years. Broke it clean.
[AAA Premium Piglet Wholesale]: So, can you guys help me deliver some pigs? We’ve still got a bunch at home.
[Ling]: Wait there.
Xu Ling turned around, only to see that Ning Sheng had already wheeled out his little bicycle.
“We’re not using that.” He told him. “We’re upgrading.”
Then he rolled out his stepdad’s motorcycle. “Time to do some grown-up business.”
A motorcycle sped down the bumpy roads of Qing’an Town, and Ning Sheng clung to Xu Ling’s waist in fear.
“Slow down!” Ning Sheng told him.
“This is cooler.” Xu Ling said, pulling his baseball cap down.
The motorcycle roared all the way to Lu Peng’s house, kicking up dust. Ning Sheng held onto Xu Ling the entire time, too scared to move.
“Holy crap.” Lu Peng gasped. “The only thing my pigs haven’t ridden now is a plane.”
“Cut the crap.” Xu Ling told him. “And load the pigs.”
The motorcycle weaved through Qing’an Town’s narrow alleys, carrying Ning Sheng as well as pigs.
“Ahhh…” Ning Sheng dug his fingers into Xu Ling’s waist.
Xu Ling: “What?”
“Your hat got blown away.” Ning Sheng said.
Xu Ling: “My hat falls off, and instead of telling me to stop, you just claw at my waist? You think this is some kind of carve-the-boat-to-mark-the-sword situation?”
Ning Sheng: “……”
“This young master shouldn’t have even bothered telling you.” Ning Sheng huffed.
Xu Ling turned the bike around, puttered back to pick up his hat, and when he turned back, Ning Sheng was still sitting obediently on the back seat, not moving an inch.
“Let’s go.” Xu Ling said, kicking the bike into motion again. But this time, much slower.
Lu Peng’s pigs were as popular as ever, and with Xu Ling’s new ride, they finished their deliveries in no time.
Xu Ling stuffed a wad of cash into his pocket and headed back to Lu Peng’s.

Lu Peng’s mom was at the door, cussing out Lu Peng’s dad.
“The kids are grown now, they need to study. With your crappy skills, you still want to deliver pigs yourself?” Lu Peng’s mom scolded. “Just hire someone!”
Lu Peng’s dad was getting chewed out big time.
“Your mom isn’t mad because your dad broke the tree.” Xu Ling said, glancing at Lu Peng sympathetically. “She’s mad because she doesn’t want to see him get hurt.”
Xu Ling: “Try to be a little more understanding.”
Lu Peng half-got it. “Huh, you sure know a lot.”
Then: “I get it now! So every time you go off on Princess, it’s because you’re scared he’ll get hurt.”
Xu Ling: “Right…..”
Wait. No. That wasn’t the whole reason.
Then what was it…?
Ning Sheng squatted down, playing with a stray dog that had just arrived in town. Lu Peng trotted over and cut off a piece of pork to feed it, while Li Haoyue counted his money and barked at the dog.
“Don’t stick your hand near its mouth.” Xu Ling reminded.
Ning Sheng pulled his hand back.
“Dog Xu.” Lu Peng said. “You sure care about a lot.”
That’s right….. why do I care so much? Xu Ling spaced out for a second.
“It’s fine.” Ning Sheng said. “I’ll listen to him. He understands his own kind.”
Xu Ling: “……?”
He crouched down in front of the stray dog and picked it up, moving it a little further away from Ning Sheng.
Xu Ling: “My own kind says it’s full now and is about to leave.”
The dog: “……”
