Ning Sheng’s grandmother was once a renowned actuary when she was young, one who was efficient and decisive in her actions.
This good habit had been maintained until now.
So when Ning Sheng said he wanted to learn flower arranging, his grandmother invited a teacher over the next day and arranged flower arranging classes.
That evening, Ning Sheng made over twenty calls and summoned Xu Ling over.
“My legs are shaking from all the running.” Xu Ling said, exasperated. “Can’t you space out your calls a bit?”
“What were you doing?” Ning Sheng asked him, “Why did you only come just now?”
“I was helping out at the car wash.” Xu Ling told him.
Ning Sheng sighed deeply. “Your family is quite capable of washing, turning from a car wash shop to a car wash city.”
Xu Ling: “……”
Xu Ling: “We just expanded to another location.”
“No need to be modest.” Ning Sheng said. “I believe in Auntie Xu.”
“When will you treat me as nicely as you treat my mom…” Xu Ling muttered.
“When you learn flower arranging.” Ning Sheng said back.
Xu Ling: “Is that the only way?”
Ning Sheng: “And when you help me mend my clothes.”
“Stop babbling!” Ning Sheng pushed him into the room. “Teacher, I’ve tie… brought him here.”
The study was filled with fresh flowers that Ning Sheng’s grandmother had bought in advance, all of which were still dewy and fresh.
Ning Sheng sat by the table, took a rose, and sniffed its fragrance.
Learning flower arranging was necessary. In the previous life, Xu Ling had grabbed the wrong bouquet at a public ribbon-cutting event and had been ridiculed by Ning Sheng mercilessly.
As former arch nemesis, Ning Sheng knew Xu Ling’s weaknesses the best.
So there was no room for mistakes. He had to strive for perfection to raise the perfect Little Devil King.
“Let’s start with trimming the flower stems first.” The teacher handed them scissors. “Like this, cut it sideways.”
Ning Sheng snipped away the excess leaves with ease.
But Xu Ling’s attempt resulted in him breaking the flower stem.
“You dummy.” Ning Sheng handed him another stem. “Trim it like this, with a gentler touch.”
He made Xu Ling hold the flower while he leaned in, trimming around it slowly. “Got it?”
Whenever he was teaching, he always spoke gently, unlike his usual arrogance.
But it usually lasted for only a brief moment.
Xu Ling: “Simple.”
“Be patient.” Ning Sheng knocked Xu Ling’s hand away from the flower. “This is an art, not grocery shopping.”
Xu Ling who had been about to pluck leaves with his bare hands hesitated and pulled back.
“Yes.” The flower arranging teacher chuckled, “We have to be calm and feel the essence of a flower slowly.”
Xu Ling: “……”
An hour later, after the teacher left, Xu Ling collapsed on the sofa, staring at the ceiling blankly.
“Just this and you’re tired?” Ning Sheng asked mercilessly.
Xu Ling: “When I carefully feel a vegetable while grocery shopping, does that make it vegetable art?”
“You’re not allowed to tarnish the art!” Ning Sheng said angrily. “Just learn when I ask you to.”
His grandmother: “Puff.”
“Little Bell doesn’t want to learn.” Ning Sheng’s grandmother told him. “Ning Ning, you’re forcing him.”
Ning Sheng: “I’m not, he’s very happy to learn it.”
Xu Ling: “I am.”
Xu Ling: “Stop pinching my hand!”
Ning Sheng’s grandmother: “…. Ning Ning! Ning Sheng!”
“Stay over there and let me have a look.” Ning Sheng scrutinised Xu Ling from head to toe.
Not bad, flower arranging was effective. It had only been one class and Xu Ling’s demeanor seemed to have improved.
“It’s time to do homework.” Ning Sheng said.
“Skipping homework to arrange flowers, you’re neglecting fundamentals to concentrate on details.” Xu Ling muttered.
