Chapter 13.1
Ning Sheng: “……”
His grandmother: “……”
“You two get along so well.” His grandmother said with a smile. “Your reactions are the same when you don’t want to do something.”
“Not really.” Ning Sheng replied. “It’s different, I can only roll in place…”
What was going on?
Today’s Xu Ling seemed unusually rebellious.
Was he spoiled with too much nutrition? Was his rebellious phase coming so early?
Usually, Xu Ling would take him to play some local dog games in the town, like wrestling and shrimp fishing, but today he was much more dominant.
For example, when he pinned him down and bounced on the trampoline.
He had even started learning to resist violin practice.
“Did I mess up somewhere in the process? Why is there a bit of a mutation?” Ning Sheng mumbled to himself.
His grandmother: “What?”
“Nothing.” Ning Sheng said quickly. “Then practice once and I’ll listen to how it’s going. But you’ll have to make up for it next week…”
Because strictness was necessary to raise a higher-quality little devil king.
Xu Ling got up, patted his pants, and took the violin from him, producing a smooth yet desperate sound from the instrument.
Ning Sheng covered his ears. “Why did it get worse?”
“How is that possible?” Xu Ling sawed again.
“Let’s just go to sleep.” Ning Sheng said in agony.
That suited Xu Ling just fine.
The bed was already made, with Ning Sheng’s pillow and blanket on top. After cleaning up, Ning Sheng sat at the edge of the bed and waved to Xu Ling.
“Little Bell, let’s go to sleep.” Ning Sheng said.
He lay down on the bed, his cheek pressed against the pillow, pulling back a corner of the blanket. He kept his drowsy eyes open and said with a tired voice, “Come quickly.”
“Go to sleep, you two.” His grandmother said, ruffling Xu Ling’s hair.
Xu Ling made an affirmative sound and leaped into Ning Sheng’s covers.
Ning Sheng was already falling asleep as he spoke. The drowsiness overcame him, and he only managed to grab the edge of Xu Ling’s shirt before closing his eyes. His long eyelashes cast a tranquil shadow under the lamplight, and his sleeping expression was serene, with a slight hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth, as if he was having a beautiful dream.
“Little Bell, are you full?” He murmured softly.
His grandmother sighed, turned off the lights, and left the room.
In the dimness, Ning Sheng felt like someone was trying to help him tuck his hand into the blanket. His wrist was grabbed, which irritated him, and he retaliated with a slap.
He didn’t know what he had hit, but no one tried to grab his hand again.
There seemed to be a small gap in the blanket, making him feel a bit cold. He pulled his arm back inside the covers. As long as he lay with Xu Ling, it wasn’t as cold. He hugged Xu Ling like a hot water bottle, and they both drifted off to sleep.
After a tiring day of play, Ning Sheng slept until noon the next day. When he woke up, there was no one in the room.
“Xu Ling? Little Bell?” He called.
There was no sound in the room.
“Little young master, your little playmate went home early in the morning.” The caregiver told him.
Xu Ling? He left?
The already spacious room suddenly felt even emptier. During this time, every weekend, Xu Ling would stay with him, so why did he leave today?
It was strange not having him around.
Did Xu Ling hate him for making him practice the violin?
“Whatever he wants.” Ning Sheng said. “I won’t go looking for him.”
