Chapter 58.2

Editor: Princess

The moon gradually sank from the zenith. Xu Ling drank a cup of water: “Want to try a different position for you to beat me up?”

Ning Sheng didn’t answer.

Li Haoyue, who was flipping through a math book nearby, looked up and made a shushing gesture to Xu Ling.

Ning Sheng had fallen asleep leaning against Xu Ling’s shoulder.

Lu Peng’s bed was small and could only fit one person. Xu Ling carried Ning Sheng to the bed and covered him with a thin blanket.

Lu Peng unrolled a reed mat on the floor, and the three of them lay down in various positions.

The window was open, and through the mosquito screen, the deep blue sky was studded with countless stars.

“You need to use your brain when doing problems, stay calm.” Li Haoyue lowered his voice to lecture Lu Peng. “Before doing anything, think more, don’t be impulsive and hasty, or you’ll lose your problem-solving approach.”

Xu Ling lying on the floor was patted.

Lu Peng: “Why are you patting him? I’m Lu Peng.”

“Click.” A tiny sound.

The old fan blades creaked twice, then the fan stopped.

“Broken?” Xu Ling asked quietly.

“Seems like the power went out.” Lu Peng whispered.

In the small town, the originally scattered few lights also went dark, leaving the night sky deep blue with even brighter starlight.

With summer’s sweltering heat and the fan stopped, Ning Sheng couldn’t sleep peacefully.

By the faint light of a phone screen, Xu Ling could vaguely see the young man frowning slightly, clutching a corner of the blanket, pursing his lips, and humming unhappily.

“The power won’t be back until tomorrow morning.” Li Haoyue said.

Repairs in this small town were always slower.

“Princess seems like he’ll get hot.” Lu Peng said. “He’s super afraid of heat.”

“Do you have fans?” Xu Ling asked. “If not, stay away. If he wakes up from the heat, he’ll hit whoever’s closest.”

Lu Peng: “Yes.”

Lu Peng tiptoed downstairs and found three palm-leaf fans, one for each person.

Xu Ling: “Good stuff.”

Then the three of them sat on the reed mat, leaning against the bed edge, one hand supporting their chins, the other fanning with the palm-leaf fans frantically.

“Does your Pei Qi really not eat?” Lu Peng asked quietly.

“It doesn’t eat.” Xu Ling said. “It’s about to have piglets.”

Lu Peng: “Wow, your mom is really good at raising livestock.”

Xu Ling: “?”

Xu Ling: “If you can’t speak properly, then don’t speak.”

“With my terrible grades.” Lu Peng said. “What if I can’t get into a university in S City?”

“You must get in.” Li Haoyue said.

“If you don’t get in, Ning Ning will be sad.” Xu Ling said. “So you must get in.”

The three gradually spoke more quietly.

Summer nights were sweltering, yet there was a cool breeze.

Ning Sheng dreamed of his childhood from his previous life. He had sat in a wheelchair for several years before slowly recovering and learning to walk.

At school in S City, he was cold and aloof, never acknowledging anyone. Even the most lively classmates, after being rebuffed a few times, didn’t dare approach him again.

He recovered alone, studied alone, accustomed to keeping his thoughts to himself, talking to himself, never expressing anything to others.

Because it was meaningless and useless.

Ning Sheng was “fanned” awake by the palm-leaf fan.

Literally “fanned” awake.

Ning Sheng: “?”

Xu Ling was leaning against his bed edge, head drooping as he slept, his right hand still waving the palm-leaf fan, just swaying lower and lower until it was patting Ning Sheng’s head.

Ning Sheng: “…”

He raised his hand, pried open Xu Ling’s fingers, took away the palm-leaf fan, and threw it under the bed.

Lu Peng: “Ouch.”

Lu Peng: “Snore.”

The slight movement made Xu Ling open his eyes.

“Ning Ning?” Xu Ling asked in a low voice.

“You…” Ning Sheng was about to say “get lost.”

The words reached his lips, but Ning Sheng swallowed them back.

“You should… sleep quickly.” Ning Sheng said. “You… might get tired like this.”

After saying this, he always felt these words were strange and affected, unlike Little Young Master Ning’s usual style.

His cheeks grew slightly warm, but fortunately the darkness concealed his embarrassment.

“Ning Ning.” Xu Ling didn’t care at all and picked up another fan to continue waving.

Ning Sheng snatched the fan away and threw it out again.

Lu Peng: “?”

Lu Peng: “Snore.”

“Sleep quickly.” Ning Sheng said. “I, this Young Master I… am not that delicate.”

Xu Ling poked his cheek playfully.

Xu Ling: “Hey…”

Xu Ling’s fingertip was bitten lightly by Ning Sheng.

“You’re very annoying.” Ning Sheng said.

After saying this, he suddenly remembered what he had said in front of his grandmother: “he doesn’t deserve it.”

Ning Sheng: “…”

So it was because of this.

“You’re also… not very annoying.” Ning Sheng said.

No good, he could only go this far. He had already made many concessions.

Could Xu Ling understand?

Never mind, the night was perfect. Let him treat it as sleep talk.

“I’ll only say this once.” Ning Sheng said. “Those classes, you don’t need to learn them. This Young Master doesn’t need you to learn them.”

“Xu Ling just needs to be Xu Ling. You don’t need to be… perfect.” Ning Sheng said. “This Young Master will take care of feeding you.”

He could support Xu Ling and could also support other suns along the way.

“This Young Master will hit you when he wants to hit you, scold you when he wants to scold you…” Ning Sheng said. “You’re not allowed to get angry.”

Xu Ling’s eyes gradually widened as he rubbed Ning Sheng’s hair.

Ning Sheng finished his sleep talk and felt drowsy again, gradually falling back asleep.

Xu Ling grinned and continued sleeping with his head against the bed.

Early morning at four or five o’clock, the three were awakened by the rooster downstairs. Holding their fans, they fanned Ning Sheng again and again frantically.

“Princess has to be cool.” Lu Peng, covered in sweat, said.

Xu Ling: “This works better than an electric fan.”

Ning Sheng developed a fever and cough after noon and went to the town hospital.

“On such a hot day, you actually caught a cold.” The doctor said sympathetically.

Ning Sheng: “…”
