Chapter 56.2

Editor: Princess

In the wilderness, Xu Ling pressed Ning Sheng down on a rock by the stream.

The delicate young master was no match for the native-born wild dog, so he was quickly subdued and had his pants stripped off, leaving only his underwear.

“I won’t.” Ning Sheng protested.

Xu Ling was fully dressed while he was undressed. It was inappropriate.

He hugged his knees, curled up on the large rock by the stream, looking rather pitiful.

Xu Ling cursed under his breath, then pulled off his own shirt and threw it over Ning Sheng’s legs, wrapping it around him and tying it in place.

Then he took Ning Sheng’s pants, and humming a song, went to the stream to wash off the moss, then hung them on a nearby tree in the sunlight.

His shoulders and back were solid, and stream water had splashed on his body. The water droplets were bright and glittering in the sunlight. His wheat-colored, firm torso displayed perfectly shaped abs, with his V-lines extending down to the depths of his waistband.

“So envious.” Ning Sheng felt dejected.

In his previous life, he hadn’t even wanted to get close enough to speak with Xu Ling. Just the crushing difference in height and build would make him feel like he’d lost in terms of presence.

In this life, he had started rehabilitation early and his physical condition was much better. Logically, he should be able to grow taller.

Perhaps sensing his gaze, Xu Ling easily leaped up and grabbed a tree branch, doing more than ten pull-ups until the branch broke.

Ning Sheng: “….”

How annoying.

He shifted his gaze away, hugged his knees and watched the small grass growing from the ground.

Xu Ling walked over and crouched in front of the rock.

Ning Sheng sat on the rock, looking down at him.

Xu Ling grasped his ankle with one hand while holding the water-soaked mugwort with the other, gently brushing the grass leaves against his calf.

When the skin on his calf touched the wet grass leaves, it felt somewhat itchy. Ning Sheng pulled his leg back and kicked Xu Ling away in the process.

Xu Ling: “….”

“This works really well!” Xu Ling told him. “Boiling it in water works best, but since we don’t have that option, soaking it will do!”

“It was a knee-jerk reflex.” Ning Sheng explained.

“Did I touch your knee?” Xu Ling asked.

“Your gaze touched it!” Ning Sheng replied.

Xu Ling tore the water-soaked mugwort into pieces, rubbed some on Ning Sheng’s arms, then applied some to himself.

Both of them now carried the light fragrance of mugwort.

“There.” Xu Ling said. “No insects will bite you later.”

“Mm…” Ning Sheng rubbed the small red spots on his ankle. They did seem less uncomfortable.

The summer sun was intense, hence within less than half an hour, his pants were dry.

Wearing dry, comfortable clothes was indeed much more pleasant than wet ones.

It had been this way since kindergarten. The little devil king particularly enjoyed dragging him to do things he wasn’t entirely willing to do. He would be reluctant in every way, but the results always seemed to turn out well.

“Hmph.” Ning Sheng huffed.

“Meddlesome.” He muttered.

Before long, the math nerd and Lu Peng returned with a basket full of wild fruits.

“Let’s go pick some non-poisonous mushrooms.” Xu Ling suggested. “My mom said she’ll make mushroom soup tonight.”

“Wow!” Ning Sheng was happy.

Aunt Xu’s cooking was absolutely delicious. He’d always wanted to learn so that once he mastered it, he could cook for Xu Ling every day.

“We’ll need to walk toward the western mountain for that.” Li Haoyue said. “There are lots of mushrooms there.”

Halfway up the western mountain, the clasp on Ning Sheng’s gold bracelet came loose with a click, and it rolled down the cliff.

“Ah…” Ning Sheng sighed.

It was a safety bracelet his grandmother had given him, symbolizing health and peace. Previously, when Xu Ling and Li Haoyue had twisted it, it had been sent for repair.

The cliff was very steep, so the bracelet disappeared from sight immediately.

“I’ll get it.” Xu Ling said, dropping his bamboo basket.

“Don’t…” Ning Sheng said. “It only cost over 40,000 yuan, so it’s not valuable. If it’s lost, then it’s lost.”

“Holy shit, holy shit.” Lu Peng shouted.

The mountain looked steep, so Ning Sheng didn’t want Xu Ling to go down there.

He enjoyed bossing Xu Ling around, but that didn’t mean he wanted Xu Ling’s life at risk.

However, before his words finished, Xu Ling had already grabbed onto a horizontal tree branch and flipped down.

Ning Sheng: “…”

“It’s fine.” Li Haoyue told him. “He could climb Mount Everest with his bare hands now.”

“Hahaha, Dog Xu! I can do that flip too!” Lu Peng laughed wildly as he performed the same move and leaped down. “I landed more steadily than you.”

Ning Sheng: “….”

These crazy people.

The math nerd pulled out a huge triangular ruler from his backpack and swatted away a large spider that had just descended. “It’s okay. At this height, you’d break at most one leg.”

Ning Sheng: “….”

The math nerd wielded his triangular ruler again, then swatted away spiders, caterpillars, Lu Peng, and grasshoppers.

Xu Ling braced himself against a thick tree trunk and vaulted back up, grabbing Ning Sheng’s hand and placing the broken safety bracelet in his palm.

“Here, I found it for you.”

His clothes and arms had gotten quite muddy, and there was a scratch on his cheek from a branch that had drawn a little blood. However, his mouth was grinning widely.

Ning Sheng: “….”

He reached up to touch the wound on Xu Ling’s face, but Xu Ling dodged.

“I’m all muddy and dirty.” Xu Ling said, batting his hand away.

“Whether you’re dirty or not is for this Young Master to decide.” Ning Sheng said, grabbing Xu Ling’s collar and using the back of his hand to wipe away the mud from Xu Ling’s face. “I want to touch you, so mind your own business.”

“You’re not allowed to do this next time.” Ning Sheng said. “You can’t do things I don’t permit.”

It was too dangerous. He was frightened just looking at that small cliff.

He definitely needed to give a proper warning this time. The little devil king feared neither heaven nor earth and was wild beyond bounds.

Finding the bracelet deserved a reward.

Climbing the cliff deserved punishment.

So that evening, after returning to Xu Ling’s house, Xu Ling had just finished showering and pushed open his bedroom door when he found Ning Sheng sitting on his desk.

The young man had a well-proportioned figure and a slender build, his five fingers pressed against the desktop, delicate and pale.

“Come here.” Ning Sheng said, holding a bag of cookies..

Xu Ling bounced over happily.

“This is your reward.” Ning Sheng said. “I really like the gold bracelet my grandmother gave me.”

Xu Ling opened the cookies and poured a handful into his mouth. “Ning Ning!”

Ning Sheng lifted his foot and kicked him to the ground, then stepped on him several times. “This is your punishment!”

Xu Ling: “….”

“Don’t do that again next time.” Ning Sheng said, his rewards and punishments clearly defined. He knelt on the ground and touched the wound on Xu Ling’s cheek carefully. “You’re more precious than gold.”
