Chapter 39.2

Meanwhile, Ning Sheng spent the night at his grandma’s house. The next morning, he woke up early, thinking Xu Ling would come to apologize.
However from the time the sun rose, even until it reached its zenith high in the sky, no one rang the doorbell at his little villa.
Ning Sheng: “……”
Where was Xu Ling?
“I want to go to Qing’an Town.” Ning Sheng told the driver.
The driver: “Alright, young master. Where in Qing’an Town?”
Ning Sheng: “Qing’an Town.”
The driver: “….”
So the Maybach descended the winding mountain road.
“Not this way.” Ning Sheng said.
The driver switched to another route.
Ning Sheng: “Not this way either.”
The driver suddenly realized: “We’re heading to the car wash, right?”
“Just passing by.” Ning Sheng emphasized. “Only passing by.”
So, the Maybach drove past Xu Ling’s car wash more than a dozen times.
During that time, Xu Ling’s stepdad washed three cars, Xu Ling’s mom wove thirty leaf toys, and Xu Ling himself appeared zero times.
Ning Sheng: “……”
“Little Young Master Ning, are we still circling?” The driver glanced back, only to see his little young master’s face almost as dark as the bottom of a pot. “Alright, let’s keep circling then.”
“Let’s go home!” Ning Sheng told him.
At home, his grandmother was on a video call with his parents—
“Everything’s fine. He’s doing well. His personality is great—bright and cheerful. Let me show you.”
Then the camera panned, only to reveal Ning Sheng curled up in the corner of the sofa, hugging his knees, with what seemed like a storm cloud over his head.
His grandmother: “……..”
His grandmother: “Uh……”
His grandmother: “He’s probably just not feeling well today, so he’s sitting and resting…”
The next moment, Ning Sheng disappeared from the frame.
Meanwhile, Lu Peng, who was out making deliveries on his bike, picked up Ning Sheng and sped downhill.
“Slow down!” Ning Sheng told him.
Lu Peng’s riding skills were terrible—the bike jolted and wobbled, and it smelled faintly like Peiqi.
“Alright, alright.” Lu Peng slowed down.
By then, the car wash finally had some activity. Xu Ling was standing at the entrance, pushing a suitcase, looking like he was about to leave.
And Aunt Xu and Xu Ling’s stepdad were also there.
Ning Sheng let out a sigh of relief, but then seeing the suitcase, a bad feeling crept over him.
“Dog Xu.” Lu Peng parked. “The goods have arrived!”
Xu Ling: “We didn’t buy any pigs today, though?”
Xu Ling: “Huh? Ning Ning?”
Ning Sheng kicked his suitcase, sending it flying.
Xu Ling: “……”
Xu Ling: “Don’t, don’t, don’t—”
“You’re not allowed to go back to S City!” Ning Sheng told him.
He said it with an air of defiance, but his gaze wavered for a moment before dropping to the ground.
“Don’t go back.” He added.
“I….” Ning Sheng’s voice got even smaller.
Ning Sheng: “Yesterday was my fault.”
Ning Sheng: “I shouldn’t have……. started the fight.”
He lowered his head.
Xu Ling: “???”
“Why are you staring at the sky?” Ning Sheng asked. “Did you even hear me?”
“I’m checking to see where the sun rose from today.” Xu Ling told him.
“You won’t be happy in S City, I mean it.” Ning Sheng raised his hand. “If you dare go back…”
Ning Sheng: “I’ll go with you.”
Xu Ling: “……”
In front of the car wash, there was a slope, and Xu Ling’s suitcase, kicked by Ning Sheng, was rolling down it.
Ning Sheng raised his foot again.
Xu Ling: “Don’t, don’t, don’t!”
He opened the suitcase, and inside was a flower stand with a dozen small potted plants—succulents, sunflowers, mimosa, and some soil.
Xu Ling: “……”
Xu Ling: “You kicked the cactus off!”
He planted the cactus back.
“I went to the neighboring village to get these for you. It wasn’t easy bringing them back.” Xu Ling told him. “Don’t kick them away.”
Ning Sheng crouched down and looked at the flowers Xu Ling had bought.
And under the sunlight, his hair shimmered softly as he reached out to touch the mimosa’s leaves gently.
Xu Ling froze, feeling as if something in his chest was unfurling, just like the leaves.
“Do you like any of them?” Xu Ling asked him.
Ning Sheng: “It’s just a few plants. Do you think they’re worthy of my liking?”
Xu Ling: “Then why are you holding onto them and not letting go?”
“So, are we good now?” Xu Ling asked. “I won’t go anywhere. Our sun will shine from Qing’an Town all the way to the city.”
Ning Sheng: “No, we’re not.”
Ning Sheng: “Unless you add peanut soup to the deal.”
Xu Ling: “Deal.”
