Chapter 35.1
Editor: Jodi
Ning Sheng ate five skewers of grilled pork belly sadly.
“This is just from an average pig, and so isn’t anything special.” Lu Peng said. “It’s the one from Pei Qi’s breed that tastes way better when grilled.”
“I, this young master, have seen it all. I don’t care about this one bite.” Ning Sheng said in reply.
Li Haoyue: “That’s thousands of bites, though.”
Ning Sheng: “……”
“Ow…… I didn’t even open my mouth, why are you hitting me?” Xu Ling protested.
Ning Sheng: “I’m punishing you. You actually dared force me to eat just now. You’ve gotten bold!”
Xu Ling: “……”
“Princess, hit him harder.” Lu Peng egged on, “Dog Xu is grinning like he got a prize.”
Ning Sheng: “……”
Ning Sheng: “I hate you guys!”
“I didn’t even say anything! Why do I also get a prize?” Li Haoyue, who was covering his head asked.
Lu Peng: “Princess is just giving you an advance hit. After all, you’re bound to sell us out sooner or later.”
“What’s that?” Ning Sheng asked, biting into another skewer as he looked across the street.
“That’s a ring toss.” Xu Ling explained. “You’ve never seen it before?”
Ning Sheng had only seen it once or twice on TV a long time ago.
Back then, he had thought it was a waste of time.
But now, he had a different mindset.
“Want to go take a look?” Xu Ling asked him.
Ning Sheng: “I suppose I can go and check to see how dumb it is.”
So Xu Ling, holding a fried cake in one hand, grabbed Ning Sheng’s hand then led him to the ring toss stand.
“Ten rings for ten yuan.” The vendor called out. “You can take whatever you ring lands on home!”
The prizes on the ground were all cheap little items.
However there were cute little stuffed dogs in the back row that Ning Sheng liked a little.
“I want that one.” Ning Sheng said.
“Boss, give me twenty rings.” Xu Ling told the vendor.
The vendor handed him twenty rings from the ones on his elbow.
“Watch.” Xu Ling said.
“Are you any good?” Ning Sheng asked him.
Xu Ling: “I’m definitely going to be somebody big in the future.”
Then he tossed the ten rings, and hit nothing but air.
Ning Sheng: “……”
Ning Sheng: “You’re looking like a huge failure right now.”
“There’s no hurry.” Xu Ling told him. “I’ve still got ten left.”
Then he threw nine more, and hit nine more patches of air.
Ning Sheng: “The boss is about to laugh his head off!”
“Hey, you guys are playing this?” A certain senior student who had just finished selling his vegetables wandered over to watch the fun. “Boss, give me ten rings.”
This senior had decent accuracy, landing seven rings right on a couple of little dogs’ heads.
“Princess, this is for you.” The senior handed Ning Sheng a whole bag of stuffed dogs. “Thank you for helping me sell my vegetables.”
Ning Sheng: “Wow.” So powerful.
All of a sudden, a large ring came down from above and looped around his neck perfectly.
Ning Sheng: “???”
Xu Ling grabbed the ring and started pulling him away, “I’ve finally hit something! You’re mine now, I’m taking you home.”
Ning Sheng: “……”
“Xu Dashan!” A bag of stuffed dogs hit Xu Ling’s head.
However Xu Ling’s skin was thick, and so not caring, he half-hugged him as he pulled him away from the ring toss stand, laughing loudly.
“This is something that has fallen onto the ground!” Ning Sheng threw the ring back to the boss. “It’s dirty, yet you still put it around my neck!”
“Where are your manners!” He lifted his leg to kick Xu Ling.
“I’ll wipe it for you.” Xu Ling brushed his collar and dusted his Snow White and clean neck with his right hand.
Ning Sheng: “Ow! It hurts—get lost!”
Xu Ling froze, looking at his hand. He hadn’t used much force, however a patch of Ning Sheng’s neck was already red, like a blotch of sunset on pure white snow.
“Princess!” Lu Peng shouted from afar. “Come look at the bunnies!”
Xu Ling: “……”
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” Ning Sheng bounced over.
The little bunnies were all in cages, and each one was cuter than the last.
Ning Sheng stood at the edge of the flower and bird market, refusing to leave.
“You can raise one of these.” Lu Peng told him. “They don’t grow too big.”
Ning Sheng hesitated for a moment, then shook his head.
“I won’t buy one.” He told him. “Grandma said that affection shouldn’t be divided.”
Xu Ling grinned from ear to ear when he heard this.
“Idiot.” A parrot in a birdcage above Xu Ling’s head said.
Xu Ling: “You’re the idiot.”
“Simp.” The parrot said again.
Xu Ling: “…?”
Xu Ling: “You’re the simp.”
Parrot: “Are you mad?”
Xu Ling wasn’t mad. Xu Ling was losing it.
Sorry, sorry.” The owner of the shop rushed out. “This bird isn’t supposed to be here, it’s for my daughter.”
Xu Ling: “It’s, it’s okay.”
“What a cute little parrot.” Ning Sheng said as he approached.
The parrot: “Congratulations on achieving wealth and prosperity!”
Xu Ling: “……”
