Chapter 30.1

Editor: Princess

Mu Nan pressed himself against the door tightly—he had nowhere left to run. But Cheng Han took another step closer.

“You….. what are you trying to do?” Mu Nan’s entire back was against the door now, his eyes looking at Cheng Han like he was about to cry. Who would have thought that the person he trusted most would turn out to be the real villain in the end?

His mind replayed every little detail from the past six hours of filming. The two of them being brought into the game together, searching the building together, running for their lives together, and finally, defeating the final boss together.

—No. The female ghost wasn’t the final boss. The real one was standing right in front of him.

“Who the hell are you?” Mu Nan pointed at him, his voice trembling with suppressed tears.

Cheng Han narrowed his eyes slightly, one hand pressing against his injured leg instinctively, his lips still trembling a little from the pain.

“Thanks for helping me get rid of her. If she had managed to break free from this place, she would’ve come after me for revenge. And that would’ve been a real problem.”

“So, you’re the one who taught her those dark spells? You made her kill herself, turn into a ghost, and murder her classmates? Then you trapped her here?”

Cheng Han neither confirmed nor denied it, but Mu Nan wasn’t expecting an answer anyway. He just never imagined that the culprit would be Cheng Han, the person who had made him feel the safest from beginning to end.

Even though he knew it was all just for the show, Mu Nan still couldn’t stop himself from feeling sad and disappointed.

And then, out of nowhere, he suddenly remembered something Cheng Han had once said—he was just too deep into the act.

That was during the final performance. After Cheng Han had kissed him, he had brushed it off with these exact words. Back then, he had scoffed at him, but now, he was starting to wonder if the same thing was happening to him.

Just then, Cheng Han suddenly leaned in closer.

Mu Nan thought he was about to be “killed”, so he shut his eyes subconsciously.

However instead of an attack, Cheng Han reached into his collar and pulled out a small, folded-up piece of paper. It was a talisman.

There were supposed to be only two talismans, and Cui Zhixing had taken them both, so how the hell did he still have one on him?

“When did you put that there?!” Mu Nan’s face went pale. He hadn’t even noticed it.

Cheng Han just smiled, not answering. “You’ll find out soon enough.”

“So, the reason I didn’t die when it was my turn wasn’t because of some ghostly interference. It was because of this.”

Cheng Han didn’t say anything this time. Instead, he pulled a laser gun from his pocket, its surface engraved with intricate, ancient patterns and pointed it directly at Mu Nan.

But surprisingly, the same Mu Nan who had been shaking with fear a moment ago suddenly seemed eerily calm. And facing the barrel of the gun, he asked coolly, “Then why didn’t you kill me earlier? Why keep me alive until now?”

Cheng Han held the gun steady. “Because they were tasks. You were a choice.”

“I was a choice?” Mu Nan chuckled. Then, in the next instant, he moved.

He twisted sideways, grabbing the barrel of the gun with one hand while his other hand locked onto Cheng Han’s wrist.

Cheng Han hadn’t expected him to suddenly strike, and caught off guard, he lost control of the gun, and Mu Nan snatched it away in that instant.

In the blink of an eye, the tables had turned. Their positions flipped, and now Mu Nan was the one holding the weapon, while he was at a disadvantage.

But he didn’t look the least bit panicked. Instead, he simply slid his free hand into his pocket.

“Shoot.” He told him. “I made you a promise. I won’t go back on my word.”

“Don’t push me!” Mu Nan’s finger was on the trigger, but he just couldn’t bring himself to pull it.

“Shoot.” Cheng Han repeated. “Once you do, you can leave.”

Mu Nan shook his head. “No. You’re lying. You’re still lying. You’ve been lying from the start.”

“This time, I’m not. Kill me, and you can walk out of here.”

But Mu Nan kept shaking his head.

“What are you hesitating for?” Cheng Han asked. “I’m the traitor. I’m the villain. Kill me, and you win. You’ll avenge your fallen teammates, you’ll be crowned MVP, and you’ll be the final victor. Do you want that?”

As he spoke, he reached out toward him slowly.

“Don’t come any closer! What are you trying to do?!” Mu Nan waved the gun, but Cheng Han still grabbed his wrist.

Cheng Han’s hand was big, completely wrapping around Mu Nan’s. His thumb rested on Mu Nan’s index finger, slowly applying pressure.

“I’ll help you.” Cheng Han’s grip tightened, but he could feel Mu Nan resisting with all his strength.

Yet he acted like he didn’t notice. His strength wasn’t something Mu Nan could fight against.

Mu Nan’s whole body trembled, but in the end, he still couldn’t overpower Cheng Han.

Then—bang!

A beam of light shot out from the gun, hitting Cheng Han squarely in the forehead.

His grip loosened, his hand slid away from Mu Nan’s, and the gun slipped from Mu Nan’s fingers, clattering to the ground.

At that moment, a raging fire erupted at the end of the hallway. Flames surged forward like a tidal wave, swallowing everything in their path.

Cheng Han collapsed. He could no longer feel anything.

The fire spread fast. One classroom after another was consumed, and in just a few minutes, it reached Mu Nan’s feet.

With a deep rumbling sound, the heavy doors creaked open slowly.

He had been trapped in this building for so long that he had completely lost track of time. Outside, the first hints of dawn were breaking through the horizon, the boundary between night and day blurring into a narrow path of light.

Mu Nan stepped forward, walking toward that light.

And waiting for him outside were the staff members who greeted him with a round of enthusiastic applause.

However he didn’t feel happy at all. He just plopped down on the ground, staring at the changing sky, his mind filled with the image of Cheng Han falling.

He lowered his head, lost in thought.

Xiao Jin rushed over first, draping a coat over his shoulders, helping his exhausted body into the van.
