Chapter 27.2

Editor: Jodi

For the rest of the packing segment, Mu Nan was on edge, terrified that something else he shouldn’t have would pop up.

He barely made it to the end of the packing segment, and when they moved on to the interview, he finally let out a sigh of relief.

“Mu Nan, tell us your thoughts on joining this show.” The host asked warmly.

Mu Nan’s hand tightened slightly around the microphone. “I’m really looking forward to it, haha.”

But his laugh was so stiff that the fans watching the livestream laughed even harder than he did.

[“Hahaha! Nan Nan’s face is pale from fear, but he’s still pretending he’s not scared. This is too funny!”]

[“If you’re scared, just admit it. It’s not embarrassing!”]

“But I heard from your fans that you’re especially scared of ghosts?”

Mu Nan’s voice started trembling. “Impossible. Being scared of ghosts? That’s impossible. It’s impossible in this lifetime.”

His fans: [“Hahahaha, who’s the person who covers his ears every time he hears a ghost story?”]

[“Do you dare to open a ghost movie right now and prove it to us?”]

[“Here we go, I brought the evidence! Everyone, check the comment section—this is the meme of Mu Nan desperately resisting hearing a ghost story!”]

Mu Nan: “Are you even my fans? Useless at everything except tearing me down!”

But in the end, he was still forced to spill his true feelings: “I just hope that if I pass out from fear, the other guests, the cameramen, and the PDs can carry me out, okay?”

“Let me bow to you in advance.” He said with a face full of sincerity.

The host couldn’t hold it together anymore, and the comment section was completely flooded with “Hahaha.”

Mu Nan’s segment ended, and the livestream quickly switched to the second artist’s home.

Cheng Han was the last one to be interviewed, so as soon as Mu Nan’s part ended, he immediately called Cheng Han.

“Check if you took my face cream! I grabbed the wrong one and almost died of panic just now!”

“Oh.” Cheng Han replied absentmindedly.

Mu Nan pressed him repeatedly, “Check again to see if there’s anything else!”

“Got it.”

After hanging up, Cheng Han tossed the item he was fiddling with onto the top of his suitcase casually. It was a black bottle of face cream that belonged to Mu Nan.

Mu Nan thought the matter was settled after his reminder, but to his surprise, later that night, after the four-hour livestream, the hashtag #FaceCream shot up the trending charts.

Everyone knew that the second and third spots on the Weibo trending list were usually reserved for ads, so at first, people assumed it was just a new campaign by some brand.

But when the hashtag quickly climbed to the number one spot, more people clicked on it, only to discover it wasn’t just about face cream—it should’ve been called #MuNanAndChengHanSwappedFaceCreams.

[“During yesterday’s “Absolute Terror” pre-show livestream, Cheng Han’s endorsed face cream was spotted in Mu Nan’s luggage, while Mu Nan’s endorsed cream was seen in Cheng Han’s home.”]

[“Does this mean these two entertainment industry rivals are about to reconcile, or is there something between them that we don’t know about?”]

[“It’s just a blurry screenshot. You can’t even tell if it’s face cream for sure.”]

[“Besides, even if it is their rival’s product, doesn’t that just prove how good these creams are? Even their competition wants to use them!”]

For a while, everyone speculated wildly about the origin of the creams. But no one could have guessed that the ones seen in the livestream were actually the exact ones the two used.

Mu Nan secretly felt relieved while cheekily mocking the netizens in his mind for not having vivid enough imaginations.

The first episode was being filmed in a coastal first-tier city. Both Mu Nan and Cheng Han had booked tickets on the same flight and arrived at the airport one after the other.

And the moment they got to the airport, they were surrounded by paparazzi who had clearly been waiting.

Neither Mu Nan nor Cheng Han liked fans showing up at the airport, but with public schedules, it was hard to avoid leaks. Xiao Jin and Wilder flanked Mu Nan on either side, trying to shield him, but they couldn’t stop microphones from being shoved in his face.

“Mu Nan, can you explain what happened with the face cream in the livestream?”

“Your livestream showed a competing product. Has your endorsing brand expressed any concerns?”

“What’s your actual relationship with Cheng Han?”

Mu Nan shut his mouth impatiently. He’d never had the habit of humoring these paparazzi. When it was time to put on a cold face, he didn’t hesitate—otherwise, everyone would think he was easy to push around.

However amid the noisy chaos, he suddenly caught a question: “It’s rumored that you and Cheng Han are actually a couple. Is that true?”

The question was so outlandish that even the paparazzi froze for a moment, all turning to look.

Mu Nan glanced out from under his baseball cap and unexpectedly replied, “You can mess around with food, but not with words.”

Then taking advantage of their stunned silence, he made a clean getaway.

But Cheng Han, who came after him, wasn’t so lucky. He was bombarded with countless questions, including the one that had left Mu Nan dumbfounded—whether they were a couple.

“Baseless rumor.” Cheng Han replied without even lifting an eyelid.

It had to be said, that the two of them were quite alike in this aspect.

On the plane, Mu Nan’s legs shook the entire trip. Even in first class, the vibration was so noticeable that Cheng Han felt like his own seat was trembling.

“Ai Jia.” Cheng Han called his assistant, “give the airline some feedback later.”

Ai Jia asked, “Feedback about what?”

Cheng Han glanced at Mu Nan with a half-smile. “Tell them to stop installing massage chairs on the plane.”

Mu Nan heard this loud and clear, and whipping his head around, glared at him.

“Will you die if you don’t make fun of me?!”

Cheng Han chuckled but didn’t say anything more.

But oddly enough, Mu Nan’s irritation eased his nerves. He even managed to take a nap and only woke up when the plane landed.

“Absolute Terror” had a filming schedule of four sessions, each split into three episodes for broadcast. For every session, the guests had to stay in the setting for an entire night—a true test of their stamina, energy, and willpower.

Mu Nan figured that if he could survive all four sessions, he might as well sign up for a triathlon.

After a day of rest at the hotel, the guests were too worn out from traveling to socialize.

Later that evening, as the sky darkened, the production team called the guests to gather for styling. Mu Nan even considered going bare-faced, because after two days in such a terrifying place, who knew if he’d still look human when he came out?

The six guests finally met. Mu Nan was already familiar with Du Ling, so he introduced her to Cheng Han.

The other three were all polite and friendly, making the group seem harmonious on the surface.

But Mu Nan knew better—everything was for show. In the entertainment industry, no one was simple.

After a brief introduction, they boarded a bus and headed to the set prepared by the production team.

By the time they reached the haunted school, it was pitch dark. The four-story building stood alone in the middle of the wilderness, with tattered white curtains fluttering in the wind, making an eerie rustling sound.

A few streaks of indiscernible-colored light spilled out from the windows, adding to the spine-chilling atmosphere.

Even though it had looked terrifying in the video, the overwhelming fear on-site made Mu Nan shudder violently.
