Chapter 11.1

Editor: Jodi

Half a second after this thought appeared, Mu Nan shivered. What strange things was he thinking?

Most of the staff backstage didn’t know their story, so seeing these two archenemies facing off, the atmosphere instantly grew tense.

“Mu Ge.” Xiao Jin pushed through the crowd, panting heavily as he ran over. “Mu Ge, calm down.”

Mu Nan looked at Cheng Han’s exhausted appearance and asked, “Aren’t you filming? Why are you here?”

Cheng Han’s expression was unreadable, but when Mu Nan looked into his eyes, he inexplicably felt a bit guilty, so he straightened his chest, trying to appear strong and asked, “And how did you get backstage? Do you have a pass?”

There was a collective intake of breath from the onlookers, and some even stepped back quietly, afraid a fight might break out and they would get caught in the crossfire.

“Hey, hey, it’s me!” Wilder said hurriedly, “I brought them in. Let’s go back to the rest area.”

Then after saying this, he pushed Mu Nan away and Cheng Han followed, leaving Shi Tao, who had just come off the stage, standing there in a daze.

Cheng Han didn’t even spare him a glance as he turned away, and even Mu Nan, who originally had something to say to him, forgot about his existence.

Shi Tao clenched his fists secretly, and watching the two of them leave, his eyes gradually filled with resentment.

Meanwhile, the two who had reached the rest area shut the door, cutting off any outside gazes.

The lights backstage had been too dim for Mu Nan to see Cheng Han’s face clearly, but now he noticed that Cheng Han’s complexion was worse than he had imagined. His skin had always been pale, but now it was devoid of any color.

Many people called Cheng Han a vampire because of his pale skin and deep-set features, and Mu Nan had once scoffed at this juvenile nickname, but at that moment, he had to admit that Cheng Han’s fragile appearance made him look like Dracula stepping out of a castle, ready to dissolve in the sunlight.

Unable to help himself, he said, “Shouldn’t you be going to the hospital now?”

However Cheng Han ignored the question and asked instead, “Your mother asked you to call her back, you didn’t do it?”

Mu Nan froze for a moment, then he remembered that Mother Mu had indeed called him earlier. He had said he was busy and hung up, then forgot to call back.

Unexpectedly, she had reached out to Cheng Han again.

“I will call her back, but it can’t be that that’s the only reason why you came here today, right?”

“She keeps asking if we’re living together.” Cheng Han said. “I hope you can give her a definite answer, since you’re her son and I’m not.”

Cheng Han’s hand was on his stomach, and his brow was furrowed. Despite Mother Mu’s persistent calls, his expression showed no irritation, just a calm recitation of facts.

And seeing him like this, Mu Nan inexplicably felt another wave of irritation.

“If you’re sick, then you should go to the hospital. Don’t force yourself if it’s uncomfortable. Do you think you’re Lin Daiyu? Don’t suddenly cough up blood.”

But Cheng Han ignored his words and took a step closer, and despite the fact that he was sick, his presence was still intimidating. Mu Nan stepped back.

“What… what are you doing?” Mu Nan stammered, half-open-mouthed and wide-eyed, exposing his two small front teeth.

While the expression on Cheng Han’s face turned dark, as if he wanted to devour him whole as he asked, “Didn’t I tell you to be careful of Shi Tao?”

Mu Nan could see that Cheng Han was genuinely angry, but looking at Cheng Han’s expression, he felt a sudden wave of grievance, “Who do you think you are? Why should I listen to you?”

That had been such a random statement, so why should he have believed him?

“Do you think I would harm you?” Cheng Han asked back.

“I…” Mu Nan was at a loss for words, because although they didn’t get along, he had to admit that Cheng Han had never harmed him, nor had Cheng Han’s team slandered him. And when Cheng Han had warned him, his first reaction was to believe and follow the advice.

Thinking this, Mu Nan felt he was being irrational.

But Cheng Han continued to press, “So, why are you still working with him?”

Avoiding his gaze, Mu Nan pushed him away, “I can work with whoever I want. The entertainment circle is small, we can’t avoid each other. What do you expect me to do, cut ties with him…”

However as he was saying this, he suddenly felt something was wrong. He looked up to see Cheng Han bending over in pain, clutching his stomach. Large drops of sweat rolled down his forehead, and just looking at him, Mu Nan could feel his agony.

“Cheng Ge!” Ai Jia supported him hurriedly, helping him to sit down. “Cheng Ge, are you okay?”

Mu Nan looked at his hands, realizing that he had pushed him right in the stomach, and Cheng Han, already suffering from a stomach ailment, must have been in even more pain from the impact.

“Sorry, I…” Mu Nan apologized subconsciously, but his voice was drowned out by the noise around them.

“No, you need to go to the hospital.” Ai Jia, uncharacteristically firm, took out his phone to call for a car.

“It’s fine, there’s no need.” Cheng Han said through gritted teeth.

Ai Jia’s eyes reddened with worry. “Cheng Ge, I’m begging you, let’s go to the hospital for a few days. If you keep enduring this, you’ll break down.”

“It’s only half a month until filming wraps up. I’ll go then.”

“What the hell are you saying!” Mu Nan shouted before Ai Jia could respond. “It’s this serious, and you still won’t go to the hospital? Do you want to develop stomach cancer and have your entire stomach removed?”

And saying this, he moved to Cheng Han’s other side and put Cheng Han’s arm over his shoulder without wasting time. “Come with me to the hospital. My car is just outside.”

“Mu Nan.” Cheng Han called out to him weakly.

“Shut up.” Mu Nan snapped fiercely. “Just follow me obediently. We’ll talk at the hospital.”

Cheng Han’s lips moved as if he wanted to say something, however in the end he just shook his head and let his weight rest on Mu Nan’s shoulder.

Mu Nan was actually very thin. Although Cheng Han had once mocked him for not having abs, having a good physique was a professional requirement for an idol, but with his arm resting on Mu Nan’s shoulder, he felt a bit uncomfortable and so blurted out, “You’re quite skinny, it doesn’t match your face.”

Mu Nan: …

“I hope you do realize one thing. Half of your life is in my hands right now, so if you want to make it to the hospital, you’d better shut your mouth.”

Cheng Han didn’t say anything more but lowered his head, a small smile tugging at his lips.
