Chapter 36.2
Editor: Princess
However, an unexpected development occurred. When Ai Qian Qian realized that he was planning to rescue Cheng Han rather than herself, she became desperate.
She shouted, “Mu Nan is behind you! Right there in the bushes!”
“I XXX.” Mu Nan forgot he was on camera as he cursed, “Stupid X.”
Typically, if contestants cursed, the director would provide a gentle reminder. However, this time the director was also angry, and so allowed Mu Nan’s outburst.
The butcher charged toward Mu Nan with a bone saw, however instead of fleeing, Mu Nan ran with all his might toward Cheng Han.
And seeing Mu Nan getting closer instead, the butcher froze for a moment, the raised bone in his hand also freezing instead of striking immediately, as although it was a prop, it carried substantial weight, and a direct facial hit would be unbearable for anyone.
Mu Nan, however, was prepared. As he passed the butcher, he lowered his center of gravity and executed a slide tackle similar to Cheng Han’s previous maneuver.
And with this slide, he passed behind Cheng Han, used his free hand to grab one end of the rope, then pulled forcefully.
The rope fell away, which in turn freed Cheng Han.
Nevertheless, the outcome was different from what Mu Nan had expected. Having seen Cheng Han’s impressive performance previously, he assumed he could replicate it. However, his core strength wasn’t sufficient, because although he managed to slide, he couldn’t stand up afterward.
While others performed slide tackles, he performed a slip and fall.
He slid sideways, his outer arm scraping against the rough ground, nearly removing a layer of skin.
“That hurts.” He inhaled sharply, never anticipating such pain. His arm, having scraped the ground, burned intensely, causing cold sweat to form.
The director was alarmed. When Cheng Han’s leg was trapped earlier, only he knew the extent of his injury. However, Mu Nan’s situation was different. His exposed arm was bloody, with wounds mixed with sand, leaving no visible healthy flesh.
The director called for a recording pause hurriedly, then everyone gathered around Mu Nan to assess his injuries.
The production team had an accompanying doctor who was always on standby outside the scene, hence the director instructed the doctor to enter through the intercom immediately, however Mu Nan stopped him.
“Aren’t we almost finished? Let’s complete the recording first. I can endure a bit longer.”
“Shut up.” Cheng Han’s voice came from above. Then without further discussion, he helped Mu Nan sit on a chair, lifted his injured arm, and poured a bottle of purified water over it.
“I&#*^.” Mu Nan let out an unintelligible cry, obviously in extreme pain.
However Cheng Han didn’t show any mercy, pouring another bottle of water over his wound to remove the surface sand.
“I seriously suspect you’re trying to kill me while I’m vulnerable.” Mu Nan grimaced.
Cheng Han said sternly, “Now you understand pain? Where was this understanding when you got injured?”
“How would I know I’d get injured?!” Mu Nan’s face scrunched up with grievance. “It’s not like I intended to get hurt. If I had known, would I have saved you?”
For every statement Cheng Han made, Mu Nan could retort tenfold. Cheng Han had never felt so helpless with someone, but looking at Mu Nan’s eyes that were tearing up from the pain, he couldn’t utter harsher words, and so just sighed helplessly.
How could someone be so foolish? This was merely a variety show, just a game. Yet this little fool had come to rescue him so fearlessly, even going as far as to think he could be a descending hero.
He shook his head. Too foolish—the moment he wasn’t supervised, he managed to injure himself. How had he survived in the entertainment industry so far?
“Owww!”
Cheng Han’s thoughts were interrupted by screams as the team doctor cleaned Mu Nan’s wound with hydrogen peroxide, vastly different from the clear water Cheng Han had poured earlier.
The little fool was in agony, baring his two rabbit-like teeth, screaming like a small rabbit pinned to a chopping board.
Cheng Han sighed, then put his arm near his mouth.
In pain, Mu Nan bit down without hesitation. Then the moment he realized that the texture seemed wrong, he released his bite, then saw that it was Cheng Han’s arm that he had bitten.
“You…” Mu Nan stared at him blankly, as if unsure why he would do this.
Just then, another cotton ball soaked in hydrogen peroxide was pressed against his wound. Mu Nan yelled and bit down again.
Cheng Han: “Ouch…”
Within half an hour, the wound was completely cleaned. Cheng Han now saw that Mu Nan’s injury wasn’t severe, just superficial abrasions that looked frightening due to their extensive area.
The doctor’s expression wasn’t particularly concerned: “It’s not serious. The wound is shallow and doesn’t need bandaging. Leaving it exposed will help it heal faster.”
Mu Nan released his bite, then saw that he had left a deep circle of teeth marks on Cheng Han’s arm.
He looked at Cheng Han, words failing him.
“It doesn’t hurt.” Cheng Han said coldly.
However Mu Nan swallowed, his round eyes looking up at Cheng Han like glass marbles.
“Did you… wash your hands?”
Cheng Han: …
