Chapter 33.1

Editor: Princess

After two weeks, Mu Nan returned once again to the villa where he and Cheng Han were “living together”.

The two baby rabbits had already been brought back home. When Mu Nan entered, they were chomping away at their rabbit food in their bowls. When they heard Mu Nan calling them from the doorway, they merely wiggled their round little bottoms.

Mu Nan strode over quickly and picked up both rabbits, one in each hand.

“Wow! You’ve gotten heavier again! Have you been eating too well lately?” However although his words expressed complaint, his body was honest, because he still held Papaya and Orange in his arms, burying his face in their fur and nuzzling them.

Now he felt satisfied.

He put down the rabbits contentedly, quickly tidied himself up, and then sat down at the piano.

His composition from yesterday was progressing smoothly. Sure enough, when inspiration striked, nothing could hold it back.

Another reason for him returning to the villa was that it had a top-quality piano and some simple recording equipment, which would allow him to continue creating his song.

He wrote for an entire afternoon, from when the sun was high until sunset, and the song took basic shape.

Then he went to the recording room to make a demo, and sent both the lyrics and music to Wilder.

Who replied quickly, saying he would have their regular teachers look at it in the next couple of days.

By the time Mu Nan left the recording room, he was starving, however since he had hung a “Do Not Disturb” sign outside the recording room, the housekeeper had prepared dinner and left it in the dining room without calling him.

The food wasn’t completely cold yet, so he only heated the bamboo fungus soup in the microwave until it was piping hot, then ate the rest of the dishes as they were.

Sweet and sour ribs, fried yellow croaker, minced meat with lettuce, they were all his favorites.

Just as he was eating, Cheng Han returned.

He had been busy again lately, however it wasn’t like before when he was desperately taking on work. Now he was making the final push before going public. For other artists’ studios, the artists themselves were typically hands-off bosses. Only someone with his personality, who insisted on being involved in everything personally, would exhaust himself like this.

Sometimes Mu Nan thought that Cheng Han might actually be ill-suited to being a boss, because with his personality, if the company kept growing larger, he would eventually work himself to death.

“You’re back?” Cheng Han glanced at him.

“Mm.” Mu Nan, with a rib in his mouth, mumbled a response.

“Feeling better?” Cheng Han asked again.

Mu Nan spit out the bone: “Yes, better.”

After that, Cheng Han said nothing more and went upstairs to his room.

Mu Nan picked up another rib and tossed it into his mouth, but realized something felt off. Why did their conversation have such a strange feeling? He thought about it, and realized that this feeling was like—

An old married couple?

He shook his head, trying to shake this terrifying thought out of his mind.

Soon, Cheng Han came downstairs wearing casual home clothes, served himself a bowl of rice, and sat down across from him.

The housekeeper had prepared plenty of food, more than enough for two people.

“That question you asked me before.” Mu Nan burped, “I’ve thought about it.”

Cheng Han raised an eyebrow at him, as if asking with his eyes, “What did you think of?”

Cheng Han ate with elegant manners. Even though the ribs were small enough to eat in one bite, he still bit off the meat gracefully and chewed slowly before swallowing. As for the fried yellow croakers, which were somewhat messy to eat, he didn’t touch it at all.

And looking at the way he was eating, Mu Nan suddenly felt a bit embarrassed.

He wiped his hands clean carefully, folded them on the table, and adopted a perfectly obedient posture to answer Cheng Han.

Then like a good student answering a teacher’s question, he said: “It’s… it seems… because of Bai Wenyan.”

Cheng Han’s eyes showed a hint of surprise. “Oh?”

“Hey! What’s with that look!” Mu Nan protested, “I have good reason to suspect you’re calling me stupid.”

Cheng Han didn’t deny it at all, the corners of his lips just curved into a slight smile: “Not bad, you’re not that stupid.”

Mu Nan: …

“So you knew all along?” Mu Nan asked.

“Did I need to know in advance?” Cheng Han said, “Anyone with eyes could see it.”

The slight guilt Mu Nan had been feeling instantly vanished. He slapped the table angrily and walked away.

Behind him, Cheng Han smiled slightly as he poured himself a bowl of soup.

Not bad, he was slightly smarter than he had expected.

If Mu Nan knew what Cheng Han was thinking right now, he’d probably go back and slap him.
