Chapter 15.1

Cheng Han seemed to sigh quietly before he said with a helpless expression, “You’re an artist, be civilized.”
Mu Nan was so angry that he rolled his eyes. He was actually turning the tables on him—how could someone be so shameless?
Cheng Han, expertly skilled at teasing, kept dancing on the edge of Mu Nan’s temper.
Then seeing that Mu Nan was really angry, he explained, “My studio will sign Yang Yuzhu, and from now on, we’ll just be ordinary colleagues. But if it bothers you, I won’t meet with him privately again.”
Mu Nan didn’t expect Cheng Han to suddenly show a conscience, however the problem was, although this seemed like a reasonable explanation, something about it felt off.
What did he mean by “if it bothered him”? Wasn’t that implying that he was trying to control Cheng Han? What’s more it hinted at a bit of possessiveness too.
Realizing this, Mu Nan shivered. He quickly erased the strange thought from his mind. If he got angry, wouldn’t that confirm he was jealous? And jealousy meant that he liked him.
Liking this annoying rival of his was something he’d rather die than do.
Thinking this way, he waved his hand dismissively. “There’s no need, you guys can meet as much as you want. It has nothing to do with me, I don’t care.”
“Really?” Cheng Han’s face was full of doubt.
“Of course, it’s true.” Mu Nan raised his voice, trying to shout out his conviction. “We don’t live together anyway, so you can bring a different person home every day, I wouldn’t care.”
However just at that moment, there was a loud “clang” as a waiter, entering to serve their dishes, slipped at such an earth-shattering statement. Plates fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.
The waiter was almost in tears, picking the broken pieces up frantically while apologizing, “I’m sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose. I didn’t mean to overhear, I…”
Cheng Han: …
Was it too late for him to pretend that he didn’t know this little fool?
The scene was a chaotic mix of Cheng Han’s despairing silence, the waiter’s fearful sobbing, and Mu Nan’s attempts to comfort her, telling her not to be nervous.
Suddenly, a phone ringing interrupted everything.
“Xiao Nan.” Mother Mu’s voice came from the other end, “Where are you now?”
“Mom?” Mu Nan said, “I’m out, handling something.”
Mother Mu’s tone was meaningful. “Oh, that’s perfect then.”
However based on his understanding of his own mother, Mu Nan suddenly had a bad premonition.
Then he heard her say, “You and Xiao Han haven’t been living together, right? His mother and I discussed it and decided that the two of you have too much pride to move into each other’s place, so, we’ve prepared a house for you two.”
“And…… then?” Mu Nan became increasingly uneasy.
“I’ve sent someone to help you move.” Mother Mu told him. “And since you’re not home, I’ve given the address to the driver. He’ll take you there directly.”
“Mom!” Mu Nan wasn’t able to react immediately. It wasn’t until Mother Mu finished her sentence that a surge of anger rushed to his head.
And ignoring the others present, he trembled with rage. “Mom, can you respect me a little? I’m your son, but I’m also a person. That’s my house, my home. How could you do this?”
Mother Mu also knew she had overstepped, so she laughed awkwardly. “Mom is just thinking of your best interest. The relationship between a young couple needs nurturing. You’ll thank me later once the two of you are living happily together.”
With that, she hung up the phone.
And listening to the dial tone, Mu Nan, who didn’t have anywhere to vent his anger threw his phone to the ground furiously. Fortunately, the thick carpet cushioned it, so the phone remained intact.
He was so angry that his eyes turned red. Even if it was his own mother, how could she do such a thing? The house he was now living in was one he had bought himself, without a penny from his family. He had been involved in every step of the renovation and had personally selected every piece of furniture, down to the smallest decoration in the living room.
His home was his favorite place, a place where no matter how exhausting work was, just going back to and looking at his familiar surroundings always helped him relax.
But now, all of that had been ruined by his mother’s unilateral decision. He felt like a homeless wanderer, overwhelmed with a sense of helplessness towards both his elders and himself.
He bent down to pick his phone up, but ended up squatting on the ground, hugging his knees, unable to stand up.
He felt utterly exhausted.
Cheng Han asked the waiter to leave, then walked over to him and asked softly, “What happened?”
Mu Nan didn’t even have the strength to speak. He just said weakly, “I’ve been moved out, and you probably have been too.”
Cheng Han neither confirmed nor got angry. It was as if being relocated forcefully was no big deal to him. Instead, he placed a hand on Mu Nan’s shoulder. “Let me take you back first. Things might not be as bad as you think.”
Mu Nan didn’t respond. He just stood up with Cheng Han’s support, like a puppet, and Cheng Han helped him into the car. Then after getting the address, Cheng Han took him to their new “home”.
