Chapter 14.1

Editor: Jodi

“Don’t cry.” Cheng Han pinched the bridge of his nose.

Sitting across from him, was none other than Yang Yuzhu, who was sniffling and wiping away tears.

And hearing Cheng Han’s words, he tried desperately to stop crying but ended up hiccuping instead.

Unexpectedly this only made Yang Yuzhu cry harder. “Cheng Ge, I’m really useless. The first thing I wanted to do was to say that Mu Nan Ge isn’t like that, but my agent wouldn’t even let me have my phone. I can’t even use my own Weibo.”

“Mu Nan Ge has been so good to me, yet I can’t do anything to help him. I’m really useless. I’ve let him down. I…”

“The issue has been resolved.” Cheng Han said, feeling a headache from Yang Yuzhu’s sobs. He remembered how Mu Nan had comforted him the last time. The two of them had obviously said almost the same things, but somehow, his words seemed to make things worse. “He won’t blame you, and it’s not like you didn’t help at all.”

“Cheng Ge, I know everything.” Yang Yuzhu suddenly said.

“What do you know?”

“I heard that you exchanged endorsements for this matter. They said it was worth a lot of money.”

Cheng Han responded indifferently, “Endorsements and money will always be there. I came here to ask you something else.”

“Cheng Ge, ask away.”

“Your management contract has less than half a year left. Do you want to sign with our studio?”

Before Cheng Han could finish his sentence, Yang Yuzhu shouted, “Yes! I’ll leave as soon as my contract expires.”

Cheng Han pressed his palms down, signaling for him to calm down, and then continued, “Listen to me first. Don’t rush to agree. My studio is in a unique situation these two years, so if I sign you on, it’s because I want you to make money. Your estimated annual income requirement won’t be less than two hundred million, so you need to be mentally prepared. Once you sign, you’ll be very, very busy.”

“I’ll sign!” Yang Yuzhu didn’t seem to have taken in what Cheng Han had just said, because after just going through this incident, he was filled with guilt towards Mu Nan and gratitude towards Cheng Han, so a little hard work was nothing— he wouldn’t hesitate even if he had to go through fire and water.

“Great.” Cheng Han extended his hand. “Happy cooperation.”

After parting ways with Yang Yuzhu, Ai Jia couldn’t help but sigh, “Ge, your maneuvers were truly brilliant. Like a mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind, you’ve distracted and achieved multiple goals with one move…”

“Speak plainly.”

“Sigh.” Ai Jia counted on his fingers, “It looked like you were helping Mu Nan, but you were actually targeting Yang Yuzhu. He already felt guilty towards Mu Nan. You spent a fortune to help him with his company, doubling his guilt and transferring it to you. Originally, many agencies would fight for Yang Yuzhu’s contract, but you’ve secured him with just two endorsements, making him completely loyal to you. It’s a total win.”

Ai Jia gave a thumbs up, summarizing, “Ge, you’re like the modern-day Zhuge Liang.”

Cheng Han’s mouth twitched slightly, but he neither confirmed nor denied.

Mu Nan stared at Wilder’s face, trying to discern something.

“You know.” He suddenly said, as if possessed.

“What do I know?” Wilder waved his hand in front of Mu Nan’s face. “Don’t scare me.”

“You know who helped us.” Mu Nan used a statement, not a question.

“I…” Then under Mu Nan’s piercing gaze, Wilder finally surrendered. “Alright, alright, I’ll tell you.”

Wilder spread his hands. “Fine, it was Cheng Han.”

Mu Nan sprang up, “Who? Say it again!”

Wilder explained quickly, “Technically, he didn’t help us directly. He wanted to sign Yang Yuzhu, so, while it seemed like he was helping us, we were just pawns.”

But Mu Nan couldn’t be convinced by this explanation. “So, I owe Cheng Han a favor.”

Wilder, for some reason, suddenly said, “It’s not the first time anyway. Debts don’t burden a person.”

After he finished saying this, he saw Mu Nan deflate visibly, then slump onto the sofa like a dejected rabbit. “Kill me now, I don’t want to live.”

Wilder pulled out a tissue and covered Mu Nan’s face. “Safe travels.”
