Chapter 202.1
Editor: Jodi
The next morning, Lin An Lan put on his little backpack and went to the new class with Cheng Yu.
He purposely changed into new clothes, wanting to leave a good impression on his new class teacher and classmates.
Cheng Yu smiled warmly, waiting for him to get ready before getting in the car with him.
This class he was attending was an extracurricular class, where they learned music, art, and calligraphy.
Cheng Yu, taking responsibility, went to the teacher himself and asked about changing seats, saying he wanted to sit with his little brother now.
The teacher thought they were cousins, and so naturally agreed and informed Cheng Yu’s current desk mate, letting Lin An Lan take the seat.
Cheng Yu’s previous desk mate huffed unhappily and gave Lin An Lan an unhappy glare.
Lin An Lan felt a little embarrassed, but when he saw the boy quickly find another seat next to someone else, he let out a sigh of relief.
After all, even without Cheng Yu, the boy wasn’t left without a desk mate, so he felt less guilty.
Sitting next to Cheng Yu happily, Lin An Lan listened to the teacher’s lecture.
But as he listened, he realized he couldn’t understand. He had never attended extracurricular classes like this before, so he didn’t get it and wasn’t sure what to do.
He watched as Cheng Yu and the others lowered their heads to start drawing, then asked quietly, “How do I draw this?”
Cheng Yu tilted his head, and holding a sketch pencil, said, “Just copy the fruit on the podium.”
Lin An Lan looked at his own drawing, which didn’t look right no matter how he looked at it. Then he glanced at Cheng Yu’s drawing—it was so much better.
He felt a little down. “Mine doesn’t look good.”
Cheng Yu comforted him, “You just started learning. It’ll get better with time.”
He patted Lin An Lan’s head. “No rush, take your time.”
Cheng Yu wasn’t in a hurry, but someone in the class was.
After the class ended, Cheng Yu’s previous desk mate ran over to talk to him, and seeing Lin An Lan drawing, he glanced at it and mocked, “Your drawing is so bad, haha, it’s so ugly.”
Raising his head, Lin An Lan glared at him unhappily.
Cheng Yu snapped back angrily, “Like yours is any good! Yours is the ugly one!”
“His is obviously worse!” His former desk mate retorted. “And yet you’re sitting with him instead of me.”
“Yours is the ugliest.” Cheng Yu said bluntly. “I’m not sitting with you.”
His former desk mate got mad and walked away.
Cheng Yu turned to comfort Lin An Lan, “Don’t mind him. Your drawing’s just fine.”
Lin An Lan looked at his drawing, feeling sulky. “It doesn’t look good.”
Cheng Yu scratched his head, then thought of something and said, “It’s fine, I’ll teach you how to draw.”
Then walking behind Lin An Lan, he held his hand. Lin An Lan turned back in confusion, but Cheng Yu tapped his head lightly. “Don’t look at me, look forward. I’m teaching you.”
Lin An Lan said ‘oh’ obediently.
Holding his hand, Cheng Yu guided him, teaching him to draw step by step. Lin An Lan followed his movements and slowly drew. While it wasn’t as good as Cheng Yu’s, it was much better than what he had drawn earlier.
“Isn’t it a bit better now?” Cheng Yu asked, one hand holding his and the other pressing down the paper, encircling him.
Lin An Lan nodded. “En.”
“So it’s no big deal. When we get home, I’ll teach you slowly.” Cheng Yu said gently.
Looking up, Lin An Lan said sweetly, “Thank you, big brother.”
“You’re welcome.” Cheng Yu pinched his cheek.
Well, as a big brother, one had got to know a bit more—otherwise, how can one be a proper big brother?

After finishing two art classes, Cheng Yu and Lin An Lan went to their music class.
They were learning music theory, and Cheng Yu and Lin An Lan listened attentively, and when the teacher asked everyone to practice playing the piano, Lin An Lan finally looked at Cheng Yu.
He didn’t know how to play the piano—he hadn’t even touched one before. But Cheng Yu had already mastered the piece the teacher had been teaching them. And as the star student, Cheng Yu walked up to the piano and played a song. The other children clapped for him in admiration, and Lin An Lan joined in, thinking in his heart, Wow, my big brother is amazing! It seems big brother can do everything!
**
Cheng Yu’s days were packed to the brim, and even during summer vacation, he barely had any time to rest.
Lin An Lan followed him everywhere. During the day, Cheng Yu was his desk mate in class, and in the evening, he became his tutor at home, acting as his little teacher.
Whatever Lin An Lan didn’t know, his little teacher always did. And if they ever came across something neither of them understood, Cheng Yu would tickle him to distract him, and then they’d never bring it up again.
Before they knew it, September arrived, and the school term began. Yu Hanshuang enrolled Lin An Lan in the same elementary school as Cheng Yu, and the two of them went to school hand in hand.
The two were still desk mates, which was a bit of a blow to Xu Sheng. His kindergarten buddy had suddenly gained a little brother and was now sitting with him. Xu Sheng had no choice but to let fate decide and ended up with a randomly assigned desk mate based on height.
“Where did your little brother come from?” Xu Sheng asked while munching on a cookie.
Cheng Yu grabbed a few cookies from Xu Sheng’s box, feeding them to Lin An Lan as he replied, “He’s just my little brother, that’s all.”
His mom had told him not to tell anyone that his little brother was adopted from an orphanage. If people found out, they might say bad things about him. Cheng Yu remembered this clearly, so he didn’t even tell his friends.
Lin An Lan ate his cookie quietly without saying a word.
He didn’t know Xu Sheng and so didn’t know what to say. Plus, Xu Sheng’s cookies were small and crispy, and just as he finished one, Cheng Yu handed him the next one. He was too busy eating cookies to join the conversation.
Xu Sheng was still just a kid, so when Cheng Yu said that, he just accepted it and didn’t ask further. Instead, he watched as Lin An Lan ate cookie after cookie, with his fair face, rosy lips, and big round eyes. He looked so adorable that Xu Sheng wanted to feed him himself.
But Cheng Yu snatched the cookies away, “He’s my little brother. I can feed him, but you can’t.”
Xu Sheng huffed, “Fine, then I’ll go home and feed my little brother.”
He grabbed the cookies back. “I’m not sharing with you guys anymore. I’m saving them for my little brother.”
Turning to Lin An Lan, Cheng Yu asked, “Are they good? Do you like them?”
Lin An Lan thought they were pretty tasty, but since the person in front of him didn’t seem to want to share anymore, he replied sensibly, “I don’t like them.”
“But you were just eating them nonstop.” Xu Sheng pointed out.
Lin An Lan: ….
Lin An Lan’s cheeks puffed up, feeling a little embarrassed at being caught.
Cheng Yu chuckled as he looked at Lin An Lan’s puffed-up cheeks, poking them lightly before ruffling his hair. “It’s fine. Big brother will buy you some. We don’t need his.”
Lin An Lan nodded. “En.”
