Chapter 29.2 You’re teasing me, right?
“Senior, has your hand been injured before?” Yan Hao suddenly asked.

I really can’t comprehend how an era where the tech advanced enough to build mecha, still used raw herb directly for viral medicinal purpose haha. Like, where the chemical, pill, and serum at?

I understand you, with the advanced technology that they have they should atleast have made more effective medicine through out the years. However, as a once first year college student that was taught an introductory to pharmacology, this basic of what we learned actually explains why.
Pill and Serums or anything that needs to be intaken are common, but actually one of the less effective froms of medicine. There is this thing called the “First Pass Effect” or “First Pass Hepatic Metabolism”. Our digestive system metabolites things right? Sometimes the drug gets metabolised (cleaned) by the liver before getting spread to our blood streams and not completely able to be circulated in the body. So the effectiveness lessens. Actually any intaken medicine, the effectiveness is always lessened.
The most effective form/route that a medicine can have is through injection which will always have 100% reached inside the circulatory system thus full effectiveness is reached. However which high rewards also comes high risks. Effects are irreversible and rapid since it is directly injected. Honestly now thinking about it maybe that’s why addicted people have more needle wounds.
If we where to compare them: Bioavailability is the term used to explain the effectiveness
Injected:
-Intravenous (vein): 100% Bioavailability
-Intramuscular (muscle): 75 to 100% Bioavailability
-Subcutaneous (tissues below the skin): 75% to 100%
Oral (Intaken): 5%
See the disparity? This is actually why when making the medicine they add more dosage for when making oral medicine than injections. Because the objective for the oral medicine is to hope that it can actually do its work and not be cleaned out before it can do so.
There are many other reasons but this one is just a small part of it which I’d like to explain more because everything is beautifully interconnected, but will make this comment longer than it already is.

Thats all, sorry for the rant. It’s just so amazingly beautiful how everything is noted. It not only show how smart these people who first pioneered this study but also the care and thought being taken. They truly love what they do, and even if I had to begrudgingly study this it’s just, wow.
