Chapter 116
“How did you get in here?”
Shen You looked at the scene before her with some curiosity.
The two people across from her hadn’t yet put away their grenades, maintaining their throwing posture as they glanced around.
They saw no trace of any mutants, and the room was actually lit with warm-toned lights!
The two exchanged glances, seeing shock in each other’s eyes.
A second ago, they had been surrounded by mutants outside the abandoned factory, and thinking about their fate of becoming food, they had decided to go all out.
The moment they rushed through the broken iron gate, everything suddenly went quiet, and when they looked up again, they were here.
Safe, clean courtyard, with even a faint fragrance in the air.
Was someone actually burning incense inside the house?!
The two were truly dumbfounded.
After hearing their account, Shen You understood. “So you were trying to cover your teammates and draw away the mutants, which is why you got surrounded when night fell.”
“Exactly.” The man with injuries on his face, Quan Jian, nodded while staring in shock at the koi fish in Shen You’s tank, asking with difficulty,
“And who are you? How did you end up here?”
In all these years, he had never seen anyone keeping live, uncontaminated fish that wasn’t for eating.
It was too strange. He even suspected this was a hallucination before death, that the mutants had evolved new abilities just to make him put down his grenade.
At this thought, his grip on the grenade tightened, his fingers touching the safety pin.
“It’s not that I appeared here, but that you entered my shop.” Shen You gestured for them to look at the shop sign.
It really was a shop!
The two were genuinely stunned. Quan Jian asked in disbelief, “Then what does this place sell?”
Shen You smiled. “In your world, I sell supplies. As long as you bring valuable items to trade, I have food and medicine.”
At these words, both men’s eyes widened as they looked at each other. Then the person with torn sleeves and scratches on his hands slapped his thigh, his voice filled with delight:
“I know this! Is this like those traveling merchants in games?!”
Shen You: “You could understand it that way.”
Hearing the affirmative answer, the man was confused for a few seconds, then asked doubtfully,
“Could it be that our world really is the Blue Star OL apocalypse game? Are you an NPC?”
“Great! Do you really have food and drink? We’ve been surrounded and haven’t eaten anything for a whole day. Oh, and do you have any powerful weapons? Rocket launchers with unlimited ammo, machine guns, that sort of thing.”
“…???”
She was an antique merchant, not a weapons master. Shen You cleared her throat. “I don’t have weapons.”
“Food and drink aren’t a problem. Rice dishes, noodles—what would you like to eat?” She could order takeout for anything.
The two faces, blackened with grime, and their tired eyes suddenly showed a bit more hope.
“We’re not picky, anything edible will do!”
Quan Jian quickly added, afraid that Shen You might think they were being demanding and kick them out.
If they left the shop now….. the mutants outside definitely hadn’t gone away.
“The food will take a while to arrive. You can eat some compressed biscuits first to tide you over.”
Shen You brought out two biscuits from the storage room and poured them water in disposable cups.
“Such new packaging!”
The person with blood streaks on his face exclaimed, placing the payment for food and water on the table.
Shen You looked at the two dark grenades that rolled around on the table surface, and sucked in a sharp breath.
Ah, this stuff looked very dangerous!
The shop system had already prompted: Received grenades and business value from customers in trade.
Shen You’s brain also froze.
Seeing this situation, the two across from her thought the items weren’t enough for the trade. Thinking about it, that made sense—hot food and hot dishes were incredibly precious these days.
So they reluctantly placed a handgun on the table and asked carefully, “We’re out of bullets. Is this enough?”
It was because they had run out of bullets and were exhausted that they had despaired enough to rush out with grenades.
They still had one more gun, but if they gave everything away, they’d have nothing left afterward.
“You can keep the gun.” Shen You’s eye twitched.
Fine, the system was showing the trade as complete.
Looking at their condition, they probably didn’t have any gold, silver, or jewels on them anyway.
She used her phone to order two large, filling boxed meals.
She also found some hemostatic medicine, half a bottle of iodine, cotton swabs, and gauze to pass across the table. “Treat your wounds yourselves.”
Looking at these clean medical supplies, the two grown men were moved almost to tears.
These things were incredibly precious in the apocalypse. People would risk their lives searching for hemostatic medicine and iodine.
They thanked Shen You and skillfully treated their wounds with practiced ease.
For people living in the apocalypse, these minor injuries were nothing much—they just frowned a few times throughout the process.
Originally, they had thought that the food Shen You mentioned would be heated canned goods at most. They never expected to see her answer a phone call, then open the door, close it again,
and when she turned around, she was already holding two plastic bags steaming with heat.
This was… takeout?!!
A shop suddenly appearing was one thing, but this shop could also order takeout in the apocalypse!
Their attention was quickly drawn to the two boxed meals, the long-missed aroma of cooked food making both men swallow hard.
But they still waited for Shen You to place the boxed meals on the table and signal that they could eat before reaching out to open the packaging.
Looking at the familiar yet strange plastic food containers, the steaming white rice, home-style dishes, and even a hot dog sausage, the two felt like they were dreaming and even slapped themselves in the face.
Real boxed meals!
The two wolfed down the food, finishing everything in just a few minutes, leaving the containers so clean there wasn’t even a single grain of rice left.
So fragrant! They had almost forgotten what this taste was like—the most ordinary street-side boxed meals. Even the boiled cabbage inside was exceptionally sweet.
While sighing with appreciation, they also felt somewhat worried that two grenades weren’t enough payment.
Outside, these supplies would only be worth a few compressed biscuits and a pack of expired instant noodles.
To eat such good food was absolutely impossible with what they had!
Seeing their expressions, Shen You guessed what they were worried about and said,
“Don’t worry. Antique shops follow rules. Since I’ve already accepted the items, I won’t raise the price.”
Hearing this was an antique shop, the two actually felt a strange yet reasonable sense about it.
“Thank you, boss. Is your shop located in the abandoned factory? Or is there another way to get in?”
Quan Jian remembered what the boss had said earlier.
If they could survive and rejoin the main group, they could figure out a way to come back and trade for supplies for everyone.
“The shop’s fixed location is on Lan City’s food street, but it’s not open all the time. The next opening is in five days.”
[Lan City] Since it was the apocalypse anyway, there was nothing to hide about this shop’s existence.
“I generally only accept gold bars, jewelry, or antiques. If you want to buy supplies from there, be prepared.”
Antique artifacts should be hard to preserve in the apocalypse, but if there were any, she was curious to see how they differed from those in the modern world.
Quan Jian’s face showed some joy. He had been worried earlier that ammunition was also scarce supplies, and they couldn’t produce that much to trade for food and medicine.
Now it was good. It turns out this girl really did run an antique shop!
The things she mentioned, while they didn’t have them on hand either, were definitely easier to find than ammunition!
Besides, to them, those things were no different from scrap.
