Chapter 7

Watching them bid, Shen You had a good sense of the situation.

Rich people were indeed wealthy, but it wasn’t that they had too much money to spend. It was just that they wouldn’t buy something once it exceeded their mental price point.

She wanted to sell the items quickly, as keeping them in storage made her uneasy.

“You are all experts, so I won’t say much about the quality of the items.” Shen You said with a smile on her face.

“If it were just one table, I would sell it cheaper, but for a complete set, the price will naturally be higher. My asking price is 60 million after tax.”

Compared to market prices, where a single table could fetch 55 million, Shen You’s price wasn’t actually too expensive.

The two men examined the craftsmanship details again carefully, liking it more and more the longer they looked, almost wanting to take it home immediately.

“Fine, 60 million it is!” Zheng Mingbo decided with finality.

“Hey—” Mr. Zhou became anxious. “I was here first, so I should have first right of refusal at this price.”

“You can’t just keep looking forever. Old Zhou, are you buying it or not? Give me a straight answer.” Zheng Mingbo said irritably.

“I’m buying it! Who said I don’t want it? I’ll pay right now!” Mr. Zhou pulled out his phone.

Wealthy people naturally had different transaction limits than ordinary folks.

Shen You wasn’t afraid of bank inquiries since this was a legitimate transaction. She just needed to pay the proper taxes.

Seeing the payment confirmation and balance, she swallowed hard. She had only seen that many zeros when burning paper money during the Qingming Festival.

With the money and goods exchanged,

Zheng Mingbo watched as the furniture set was packed and loaded onto a truck. The more he thought about it, the more unwilling he felt. Seeing Old Zhou’s happy expression made him angry.

His gaze swept around the shop several times, hoping to find other good items to spend money on and soothe his mood.

“Ms. Shen, which master craftsman made this furniture set? Do you have anything else? It doesn’t have to be golden nanmu wood.”

“I really don’t.” Shen You shook her head.

Even if she could find craftsmen from the Great Qi dynasty, she couldn’t get good materials so quickly.

“Next time I have something good, I’ll give you priority. How does that sound?”

“It’s a deal!” Zheng Mingbo felt somewhat better.

If she could produce such fine golden nanmu wood pieces, then this shopkeeper must have more than just one good item. It was better to establish a good relationship first.

Shen You saw Manager Huo and the customers out the door. News of her selling such a major piece quickly spread throughout the antique street.

Since taking over the shop, this was the first time the entrance had been so lively.

“Ms. Shen, you sold it too cheaply. People would have paid 65 million.” Said the owner of another antique shop with regret.

“Next time you have items, why not give me a heads-up? I could help you assess the price.”

This was a subtle attempt to undermine her relationship with Manager Huo.

Shen You just smiled and nodded.

She had worked hard to establish a connection with Manager Huo, and so certainly wouldn’t change her mind based on a few casual words.

With nothing much to do in the evening, she closed the shop early, made herself a bowl of dumplings, and went to her room to plan.

She opened a shopping app and ordered home decorations needed for renovation, dresses she liked, and cosmetics, adding everything to her cart and checking out.

She also looked at modern crafts that would be valuable in ancient times, planning to display them in her shop.

Today had been busy, and by the time she finished tidying up, it was already late, so she didn’t open her shop on the “Great Qi” side.

Moonlight fell on the overgrown courtyard as Li Heng stood tall, facing the entrance.

That medicine worked amazingly well!

The doctor had declared that the person wouldn’t survive the night, but following the shopkeeper’s instructions and using the medicine she provided, the patient’s temperature returned to normal the next day, and their injuries began to heal.

Now others had noticed the unusual happenings here, and would likely arrive in Yunzhou soon.

He wanted to thank her properly and hopefully have a conversation with that young woman. It would be best if he could enlist her help.

But despite waiting for quite some time, that strange wooden door still hadn’t appeared.

“Your Highness, perhaps the shopkeeper has gone out.” Liu Zheng said quietly. “Why don’t we come back tomorrow?”

It was normal for immortals to have unpredictable whereabouts.

Li Heng responded with a deep acknowledgment, and before turning to leave, he looked deeply at the courtyard.

He needed to personally oversee that batch of seeds to ensure nothing went wrong.

He was worried that in a few days, he might not be able to return to this shop.

——

In the morning, Shen You took her driver’s license and headed straight to the car dealership.

She paid 80,000+ yuan in full for an electric car she had wanted but couldn’t afford before.

She didn’t particularly enjoy driving, but bought it for convenience for when shopping in the city. There was no need for anything expensive—just something functional.

Just as she drove the car back, the renovation team she had contacted also arrived.

The management system had a renovation function, but it wouldn’t work if no workers were seen entering while the shop transformed, as that wouldn’t make sense.

So she planned to assign part of the work to the renovation team and claim to do the rest herself, renovating different areas separately.

This way, she would have a place to live, and it would seem reasonable to outsiders.

She wouldn’t open the shop in the current world yet. She would wait until after the renovation workers left before opening the “Great Qi” dimension shop.

The first tasks were waterproofing the terrace and working on the walls.

Neighbors passing by observed the activity with curious and inquiring expressions.

Yesterday they had seen luxury cars parked outside the shop with visitors.

Neighbors were saying that the young woman who had just moved in was lucky, either hiding valuable items in her shop that made her rich, or finding some profitable business.

“Miss Shen, you’re renovating? And you bought a car?” A resident carrying plastic bags asked, his gaze falling on the red ribbon hanging from the car’s rearview mirror.

Nearby, several people sitting on stools in the shady part of the alley were also looking in her direction.

Shen You nodded, “Yes, I’m just doing some simple work.”

“You must have made a lot of money from your shop, right?” The person asked while trying to peek inside.

Shen You smiled helplessly, “If I had money, I wouldn’t need to buy tools and paint the walls myself. I have to save where I can.”

She opened the trunk and took out paint and free rollers she had bought on the way.

The antique street knowing she had sold golden nanmu wood furniture wasn’t a problem, as every dealer in the business had some valuable items in reserve, so they wouldn’t fixate on her.

The old houses behind had cheap rent, with both homeowners and tenants living there—a mixed crowd.

Which meant that if people found out her inherited shop contained items worth tens of millions, it would easily attract trouble.

In these times, one had to be cautious. As the old saying went, don’t flaunt your wealth.

The person who had struck up the conversation nodded, his smile becoming much more genuine,

“Such a capable young lady. At your age, it’s already impressive to run a shop. Take it slowly, there’s no rush.”

Shen You responded briefly before taking her things inside, while outside, the neighbors began talking:

“I know that car, it only costs a few tens of thousands. If she really struck it rich, she wouldn’t buy that car.”

“I wonder if this young lady has a boyfriend…”

Shen You was unaware of the gossip about her outside.

She supervised the workers inside, received deliveries, coordinated installation times for home appliances, and was extremely busy until six in the evening when she could finally catch her breath.

She hadn’t even had time to visit a museum to see real porcelain artifacts as she had planned.

She ordered Peking duck takeout, closed the door, and opened her “Great Qi” shop for business.

However, at this time, she didn’t expect many customers.

So she turned on her tablet to watch TV, took a lotus leaf pancake, and wrapped it with roast duck, cucumber, and green onion.

However before she could take a bite, she heard the wind chime and the “customer arriving” notification.

Looking up, she saw a thin, small boy standing by the door, appearing to be in his teens, dressed in tattered clothes.

He stared at the roast duck in her hand and swallowed.
