Chapter 5

“Shopkeeper, have the items been prepared?”

“Of course.” Shen You pointed to the open storeroom behind them.

Bag after bag was filled with rice seeds, and on the floor, plastic baskets contained sprouted potato seeds.

“These bags are waterproof and resist moisture. As long as you don’t open them, they can be stored for a long time.”

“By the way, these potatoes have minimal soil requirements, but once sprouted, they’re toxic if eaten raw or undercooked.”

Li Heng nodded, “Thank you.”

“I’ve selected seeds with strong disease resistance and maximum yield. Please note these planting details yourselves.”

Shen You opened her computer and began explaining the key points she had prepared.

Li Heng’s attendant stared at the strange square box on the counter, unable to comprehend how it could contain text that could be accessed at will.

Before coming, he hadn’t believed such high-yield crops existed and suspected that His Highness had been deceived.

It was only after entering this place and seeing so many seeds with his own eyes that he believed about seventy to eighty percent of it.

This shop was indeed as peculiar as His Highness had described, although the true crop yield couldn’t be determined until harvest time.

He turned his attention back, took out paper and a brush, and began taking notes.

Ancient scholars really had beautiful handwriting.

Shen You glanced over, noting that there wasn’t a single mistake in the entire document, the regular script as neat as if it had been printed.

She quietly pushed her own calligraphy practice book further away.

“Shopkeeper, the two of us might have difficulty transporting this entire storeroom of seeds…” Li Heng said with some embarrassment.

He was asking if others could be allowed to enter.

Shen You: “Don’t worry, I’ll deliver everything to your location.”

How could she let her VIP customers carry things themselves?

Transferring items cost 50 points, equivalent to five thousand yuan.

It was expensive, but considering that this was a cross-dimensional transfer with a substantial amount of goods, the price seemed reasonable. Shen You convinced herself with this reasoning.

Hearing the shopkeeper’s words, Li Heng wasn’t surprised. In a shop that could speak, nothing strange seemed out of place.

“Please review these items. If they’re insufficient, I’ll prepare more.”

Li Heng opened the wooden chest that had been placed in the courtyard.

“According to our mansion’s inventory records, these are our most precious porcelain pieces. The sky-blue glaze firing technique has been lost, and very few pieces remain in existence. I wonder if they might be acceptable?”

They were more than acceptable!

These were Ru kiln sky-blue glazed tea sets, along with incense burners, items typically found only in museums. Single pieces sold at international auctions commanded astronomical prices.

Of course, being from a different dimension, the firing techniques might differ slightly from those of the current world’s Ru kiln.

Shen You then looked at the two golden-thread nanmu wood armchairs and tea table, all extraordinary treasures.

“These will do.” She smiled.

She returned to the counter and operated the system to transfer the items from the storeroom, along with the two previously mentioned gifts of essential oil.

Li Heng’s lips curved upward as he thought, “I guessed correctly.”

Common golden-thread nanmu wood was easy to find, but premium quality was rare.

As the crown prince whose position wasn’t yet secure, intercepting tribute goods would inevitably give others an opportunity to attack him.

The shopkeeper’s request for golden-thread nanmu wood was likely a test of his sincerity.

[Ding——Order completed.]

Rewards received.

Shen You quickly operated the system to place the valuable porcelain, the remaining two gold ingots, and jade pendant into the counter’s storage compartment.

The one-square-meter compartment was just large enough to hold everything if packed tightly.

Now she felt secure, no longer worried about thieves when she went out.

“There’s one more matter. A friend of mine was attacked recently, and the doctor says his injuries are severe, life-threatening. Does the shopkeeper have any solution?” Li Heng asked sincerely.

The man had been injured for his sake, so he had to try.

“What kind of injury?” Shen You remembered the medicine box she had purchased earlier.

Hearing this, Li Heng felt hopeful. This question suggested willingness to help.

“A knife wound that is quite deep. It became infected, causing persistent high fever.”

“Wait a moment.”

Thinking of this VIP customer who could make her rich, Shen You took out special hemostatic medicine, gauze, two tablets each of ibuprofen and antibiotics, and iodophor.

“These are gifts for you.”

Then she explained how to use them, specifically emphasizing the need to test for allergies with small amounts first, as severe allergic reactions could cause shock.

Li Heng and his attendant expressed their thanks and departed. Outside the shop, they saw a pile of goods in the desolate courtyard, arranged exactly as they had been in the storeroom.

The bearded attendant was stunned.

When he regained his composure, his voice trembled, “Our Great Qi really has the blessing of immortals!”

With that, he bowed toward the dilapidated residence.

Transporting so many goods out of the alley made concealment impossible, so Li Heng simply said he had met an extraordinary person and purchased a batch of crop seeds.

Those who suspected he was hiding weapons and armor there didn’t believe him.

So shortly after they left, more people arrived.

The leader, Zhang Hu, had just passed through the doorway when he saw a closed wooden door.

The sign above read “What I Have Has Everything”, and there was a strange wooden plaque on the door emitting a warm-colored light.

“What’s going on?”

They had thoroughly searched inside and out just two days ago and hadn’t seen this.

Zhang Hu pushed the door. For a martial artist like him, pushing a wooden door should have been effortless, yet this door didn’t budge an inch as if it were welded shut.

“Sir, this door looks strange. What if we accidentally offend something…”

His subordinate looked wary.

Who would embed something resembling a spirit tablet into a door?

And with nightfall approaching, encountering immortals would be one thing, but what if they met evil spirits?

“Superstitious nonsense! I won’t be intimidated!”

Without another word, Zhang Hu drew his sword and struck the door. However the blade that could sever a human arm didn’t leave even a mark on the door.

Instead, he himself was pushed back several steps by the impact.

Seeing this bizarre scene, his subordinates froze in place, feeling chills down their spines.

Zhang Hu became agitated. He raised a torch and approached the door, saying angrily, “If a sword can’t cut it, can’t fire destroy it?”

It couldn’t.

His arm grew numb from holding the torch, but the wooden door remained unharmed.

He then climbed onto the adjacent wall to look. Behind the door was just the abandoned residence, nothing unusual except for that strange door.

Could there be some kind of colorless, odorless hallucinogen here?

As Zhang Hu was feeling the door for hidden mechanisms and letting his imagination run wild, he suddenly heard a clear female voice:

“So you’re the one chopping at my door?”

Zhang Hu’s eyes widened as he looked toward the spherical object under the eaves that had emitted the sound.

“Try doing that again and see what happens.” Shen You, sitting behind the security monitor, clenched her right fist.

She had gone to collect a delivery, and upon returning, received an alert from the shop system. Looking at the monitor, her temper flared.

“Who’s speaking!” Zhang Hu maintained a forced composure and shouted sternly.

“I’ve seen plenty of low-class tricks. Were the people who came earlier here to see you? I advise you not to play games. Open the door!”

Emperors were most wary of fortune-telling and magical arts, so regardless of the door’s secret, if there was evidence of the crown prince dabbling in unorthodox practices, his position would be finished.

Without evidence, evidence could be manufactured.

Thinking of the immense fortune awaiting, Zhang Hu suppressed what little apprehension he had.

“Go, smash that thing!” He ordered his subordinates.
