Chapter 51

Qin Huanxi followed the butler into the main courtyard hall and immediately spotted the violin case placed on the table. This antique yet luxurious case could be etched into his memory with just one glance. His fingers twitched slightly, as if his fingertips still retained the unforgettable touch of the Black Diamond.

Even though he had already guessed the old man’s intentions, seeing the Black Diamond again still made Qin Huanxi unable to suppress the fervor and excitement in his heart. He turned to look at the old man: “Grandfather…”

“You’re here.” The old man’s face lit up with an exceptionally gentle smile upon seeing Qin Huanxi. His gaze moved past Qin Huanxi to Qin Yu and Mo Shaoheng following behind. When he saw Mo Siyuan in Mo Shaoheng’s arms, his aged face broke into a kind and amiable smile. “Xiao Yuan came too. Come quickly to grandfather.”

“Pardon the intrusion.” Mo Shaoheng said as he set Mo Siyuan down on the ground.

Old Master Qin was as fond of Mo Shaoheng as always, his face beaming with joy at the sight of him: “I’ve already heard from Huanxi that you’ll be accompanying him to Germany for the concert this time. With you along for the journey, this old man can rest easy.”

Mo Shaoheng merely nodded and remained silent.

Mo Siyuan looked up at Mo Shaoheng, then timidly walked over to Qin Huanxi’s side, raising his small hand to grasp Qin Huanxi’s hand.

Qin Huanxi chuckled softly, bending down to pat his little treasure’s head encouragingly: “Go on, call him grandfather and go to grandfather’s side.”

“Grandfather.” Mo Siyuan obediently called out and took small steps toward the old man.

The old man’s smile grew even more gentle and doting as he patted Mo Siyuan’s head: “Good boy!”

Mo Siyuan finally broke into a sweet smile, squeezing up to the old man: “Xiao Yuan will also go to Germany with Big brother Huanxi this time, and Uncle Qin Yu will come with us too.”

Qin Yu was startled by these words and quickly turned to look at Qin Huanxi, his expression showing his emotions.

Qin Huanxi smiled: “What I mentioned earlier about having something to discuss with little uncle was about wanting to discuss going to Germany together.”

Qin Yu looked at him gratefully: “Thank you, Huanxi.”

The old man looked knowingly at Qin Huanxi and Qin Yu. He ultimately felt guilty about Qin Yu. The Qin family was a big household, and as the family head, he couldn’t attend to everything personally. His heart inevitably had its biases, and there were bound to be oversights.

This son of his was very talented, and he didn’t want to waste Qin Yu’s gifts. When Qin Yu chose to develop his career abroad, he agreed without hesitation and recommended a highly acclaimed foreign violinist to teach Qin Yu. Qin Yu lived up to his expectations, gradually establishing his own position abroad.

Qin Yu’s situation in the Qin family was awkward. The old man was getting on in years and couldn’t protect him much longer. Rather than watch Qin Yu remain obscure in the Qin family, it was better to let him spread his wings freely outside. Now, seeing Qin Yu and Qin Huanxi getting along harmoniously, with Qin Huanxi showing intent to support Qin Yu, he felt reassured. In the future, as long as Qin Huanxi was there, no one in the Qin family could harm Qin Yu.

Thinking this, the old man’s gaze unconsciously fell on Qin Huanxi, who was chatting and laughing with Qin Yu. His heart felt both comforted and bitter. This child had experienced too much – the Qin family’s future, others’ gazes, the burden of genius, honor and glory, all pressing down on his slender frame.

Previously, he might have hesitated about whether Qin Huanxi could shoulder the entire Qin family, and worried that Qin Huanxi’s personality wasn’t suitable for becoming the next family head. But now he could unhesitatingly place the Qin family’s most treasured possession solemnly in Qin Huanxi’s hands.

As long as he still drew breath, he would continue protecting the Qin family for Qin Huanxi. Until then, Qin Huanxi need only focus on enjoying his dream as a performer, standing on higher stages, waiting for the day when his wings were full enough. When he returned to the Qin family then, Qin Huanxi would be the most suitable and strongest family head.

“Huanxi, come here.” The old man beckoned to Qin Huanxi.

Qin Huanxi instinctively looked back at Mo Shaoheng, and with encouragement from the other’s gaze, slowly walked to the old man.

The old man lifted the violin case and solemnly placed it before Qin Huanxi: “Huanxi, from now on you are her master. You must treat her well and not disappoint her reputation.”

“Grandfather!” Qin Huanxi suddenly looked up, staring at the old man with complete disbelief. He had thought the old man was merely letting him take the Black Diamond to the concert, never imagining the old man intended to place the Black Diamond in his hands. For the Qin family, this was no small matter.

Seeing that Qin Huanxi didn’t immediately accept the Black Diamond, the old man immediately guessed his concerns and sighed: “Finding the most suitable new master for the Black Diamond has been my dream for many years. Huanxi, grandfather isn’t acting on a whim, nor making this decision rashly. You are the most suitable person in the Qin family to possess her, and the most qualified to possess her. Huanxi, I believe you understand her best. Owning the Black Diamond means not only letting her brilliance envelop the entire stage, but also having sufficient ability to protect her from harm and exploitation.”

Qin Huanxi remained silent, looking up at Mo Shaoheng and Qin Yu.

Mo Shaoheng reached out to embrace his shoulder, patting it gently: “I believe you have sufficient qualifications to possess and protect her.”

Qin Yu also stepped forward: “Huanxi, no one else in the Qin family is more suitable to possess her than you. I trust father’s choice.”

Qin Huanxi nodded and slowly reached out to accept the violin case, saying solemnly: “Grandfather, I will not disappoint the Black Diamond’s reputation. I will ensure the Black Diamond’s glory returns to the concert hall. The Black Diamond’s legend will be passed down forever.”

“Excellent!” The old man laughed heartily, patting Qin Huanxi’s arm with satisfaction: “Grandfather believes in you.”

Qin Huanxi held the violin case and nodded vigorously.

Even after leaving the main courtyard, Qin Huanxi remained somewhat dazed. Though he had spoken his vows with passionate fervor, his heart continued to beat violently, as if it might burst from his chest at any moment. He had once imagined that perhaps someday he could possess the Black Diamond, but never expected that day would come so quickly, leaving him unable to distinguish between dream and reality.

“Daddy, what’s wrong with Big brother Huanxi?” Mo Siyuan wrapped his arms around Mo Shaoheng’s neck, looking suspiciously at Qin Huanxi.

Mo Shaoheng chuckled softly: “Big brother Huanxi has gained the most important partner of his lifetime.”

Mo Siyuan looked at Qin Huanxi with seeming understanding, wrinkling his small face as he turned back to ask Mo Shaoheng: “Is that violin very important to Big brother Huanxi? Can Xiao Yuan also play a song with that violin in the future?”

Mo Shaoheng patted his head: “That day will come.”

Mo Siyuan smiled with eyes curved like crescents. He knew Big brother Huanxi played violin exceptionally well – television often showed Big brother Huanxi playing violin, and everyone said Big brother Huanxi was a genius. He also liked violin, and when he grew up, he definitely wanted to become as amazing as Big brother Huanxi.

Back at his private villa, Qin Huanxi finally calmed his excited emotions. He carefully locked the Black Diamond in his room’s safe and placed the safe’s key with Mo Shaoheng. He had already decided that after returning from Germany, he would hide the Black Diamond in Mo Shaoheng’s room safe. No one would think the Black Diamond would be in Mo Shaoheng’s possession.

News of his inheriting the Black Diamond would surely reach everyone in the Qin family within a day. Even before he inherited the Black Diamond, people in this house had wanted his life. Going forward, for the sake of the Black Diamond, those people might commit even more insane acts.

Though this method was somewhat crude and direct, currently in the Qin family, only the old man and Qin Yu were trustworthy. During the day he still had to attend classes, so if someone truly set their sights on the Black Diamond, his room’s safe wouldn’t be secure at all.

Since the old man had already entrusted the Black Diamond to him, he naturally couldn’t place it back in the old man’s collection room. Currently, the only person he could rely on was Mo Shaoheng. No matter how crude and direct this hiding place for the Black Diamond might be, as long as it could protect the Black Diamond, he couldn’t afford to be particular about other considerations.

Qin Huanxi rubbed his nose with his finger and patted Mo Shaoheng’s shoulder: “It’s happily decided then.”

Mo Shaoheng shook his head with a soft laugh. This fellow was truly brazen, but being trusted so completely by his beloved made him willingly accept it. However, from now on, the Qin family would be unable to maintain peace for a long time. Those hiding in the shadows would likely start stirring.

Mo Shaoheng’s arm around Qin Huanxi tightened continuously. As long as he was there, he wouldn’t give anyone a chance to harm Qin Huanxi. He had already lost this person once – this time he absolutely wouldn’t let past tragedies repeat. He would not only firmly protect the Black Diamond, but also protect the Black Diamond’s master.

Qin Huanxi suddenly remembered something and gently pulled away from Mo Shaoheng’s embrace, asking Qin Yu who was holding Mo Siyuan: “By the way, little uncle, do any others know about you and Ning Shen? Besides me, no second person in the Qin family should know about this, right?”

Qin Yu was slightly startled and couldn’t help frowning: “When Ning Shen and I were together, we were in France. I only returned to S City with him a month ago, and during that time I stayed at Ning Shen’s villa. Apart from those close to Ning Shen, no one else visited that villa. Do you suspect Qin Siyu knows about Ning Shen and me?”

“Little uncle, don’t panic first.” Seeing Qin Yu’s face change dramatically, Qin Huanxi quickly consoled him: “I’m only speculating. The words Qin Siyu said didn’t seem like threats without evidence – she probably already knows something. But don’t worry, even if Qin Siyu spreads word about you and Ning Shen, I won’t let her have a chance to harm you, nor will I let the Qin family members brazenly use this matter to threaten you.”

“At worst, it’s just returning to the former situation, but now I still have you. Huanxi, thank you so much. This little uncle always makes you, his nephew, worry about him – I’m completely unqualified for the role.” Qin Yu smiled bitterly, finally steadying his mind: “How could she know about this?”

“This is also just my speculation.” Qin Huanxi said thoughtfully: “Usually at school, everyone knows I’m close with Shanshan and Su Yang, but Su Yang and Fu Yilei have been at odds since childhood, while Ning Ziyi and Qin Siyu are friendly with her. If anyone would know about you and Ning Shen, Ning Ziyi is probably the only one in the know. She’s always liked clinging to her little uncle Ning Shen, and would try every means to find out about anything concerning Ning Shen. When Ning Shen returned to S City, Ning Ziyi would definitely seek him out. It wouldn’t be strange for her to know about you and Ning Shen.”

Qin Yu nodded with a furrowed brow, then seemed to remember something and asked somewhat puzzled: “But Huanxi, how do you know about Ning Ziyi and Ning Shen? And know it so clearly?”

Qin Huanxi paused, looked up at the ceiling, then turned back to see Mo Shaoheng with his head turned away, stifling laughter. In front of Mo Shaoheng, his transparent disguise was utterly useless. So he said with feigned composure: “Sorry, little uncle. I once had an incident at Fu Zecheng’s banquet and happened to encounter Ning Shen. Afterward, Uncle Mo had people investigate Ning Shen, and I saw that investigation report.”

Qin Yu didn’t suspect anything and shook his head indifferently: “As long as he didn’t make things difficult for you.”

Qin Huanxi smiled: “No, I was actually helped by Ning Shen that time. Otherwise, I would have fallen into someone else’s hands long ago.”

The corners of Qin Yu’s mouth curved up, but his smile was somewhat strained. He ultimately still couldn’t forget that person.
