Chapter 50

Qin Huanxi placed the invitation on the table and crouched down to organize his suitcase. Suddenly, the door burst open, and a small figure rushed toward him calling “Big brother Huanxi!” before pouncing on him and knocking him down onto the thick carpet.

“Xiao Yuan, have you gotten heavier again? Big brother Huanxi can barely lift you anymore,” Qin Huanxi laughed softly. Just as he was about to help the small figure on top of him sit up, a pair of strong arms from behind supported his waist and helped him up.

Qin Huanxi turned to look at Mo Shaoheng and smiled, “Thank you.”

Mo Shaoheng stroked his hair and, maintaining his embrace around Qin Huanxi’s waist, sat down on the carpet and pulled him into his lap.

Mo Siyuan turned around and plopped down on Qin Huanxi’s legs, pouting with dissatisfaction: “I’m not fat! I’m on a diet. Uncle Shen Yu said I’m only one kilogram over the standard weight, and I just need to eat fewer desserts to lose weight. It must be that Big brother Huanxi didn’t catch me properly just now.”

Qin Huanxi was amused and pinched Mo Siyuan’s soft little cheeks: “What diet at such a young age? Alright, alright, it’s Big brother Huanxi who wasn’t strong enough and didn’t catch you.”

Only then did Mo Siyuan smile with satisfaction. He leaned toward Qin Huanxi and gave him a big kiss, then stood up and hugged Qin Huanxi’s neck, nuzzling against him as he asked: “Big brother Huanxi, are we going to Germany tomorrow? Dad said we can go with Big brother Huanxi.”

Qin Huanxi lifted him up and placed him on his lap, comforting him: “Do you want to go with Big brother Huanxi?”

Mo Siyuan nodded vigorously: “Yes! Xiao Yuan doesn’t want to be separated from Big brother Huanxi. Dad said Big brother Huanxi will be gone for a week. If Xiao Yuan doesn’t go with Big brother Huanxi, then I won’t see Big brother Huanxi for a whole week. Xiao Yuan doesn’t want to be separated from Big brother Huanxi. Xiao Yuan must be with Big brother Huanxi and Dad every day.”

“My little sweetheart!” Qin Huanxi hugged Mo Siyuan tightly and kissed his face several times.

After playing with Mo Siyuan for a while, Qin Huanxi turned to Mo Shaoheng: “By the way, I want Little Uncle to come to Germany with us. I’m not comfortable leaving him alone at home. Although you’ve been having people watch Ning Shen, he’s definitely keeping tabs on our movements too. I’m worried that after we leave, he’ll take the opportunity to take Little Uncle away.”

Mo Shaoheng’s arms around Qin Huanxi froze slightly. He lowered his head to kiss Qin Huanxi’s exposed neck, then rested his chin on his shoulder and said quietly: “You decide. It would be good for him to leave T City too. But… you seem to care about him very much?”

“Don’t tell me you’re even jealous of Little Uncle?” Qin Huanxi laughed for a moment, then said somewhat wistfully, “In the entire Qin family mansion, it’s already hard to find a relative who cares for and appreciates each other. Although Grandpa loves me very much, he always tries to be fair to everyone. The old man isn’t in an easy position either – all his children and grandchildren are dear to him. Since my parents died early, Grandpa gives me a bit more attention, but even this little bit of extra care has made many people resentful and hateful.”

Qin Huanxi leaned back against Mo Shaoheng’s shoulder and asked with a smile: “Do you know why I care so much about Little Uncle?”

Mo Shaoheng tightened his arms around Qin Huanxi’s waist and asked in a low voice: “Hmm?”

Qin Huanxi straightened up and faced Mo Shaoheng: “He said that he’s not as strong as I imagined. Staying in the Qin family, no matter how much mockery and ostracism he faces, he won’t suffer any real harm – they wouldn’t dare. His livelihood is also well guaranteed. But he still chose to leave because he was afraid that if he continued to stay in the Qin family, he would lose even his true nature and original intentions, becoming the type of person he most despised – bitter, jealous, vindictive, and full of hatred.”

This was also the aspect of Qin Yu that Qin Huanxi most admired. Being born into such a prominent family as an illegitimate son, yet still maintaining a peaceful heart – Qin Yu was truly remarkable. Compared to Qin Congan and Qin Siyu, Qin Yu could be said to have emerged from the mud without being stained. He wondered what Qin Congan and Qin Siyu had experienced to make them hate him and Qin Yu so much.

Mo Shaoheng raised his hand to caress Qin Huanxi’s face, his eyes smiling: “You’re the same way.”

Qin Huanxi was stunned for a moment, then began to laugh softly, his gaze fixed on Mo Shaoheng’s eyes.

The original soul had carried the future of the entire Qin family on his shoulders. One couldn’t blame his parents for being overly strict with him. The Qin family wasn’t the only prominent musical family, but a great family that had been glorious for decades couldn’t be ruined by the younger generation. Someone always needed to step forward and shoulder this responsibility, and this pressure wasn’t something ordinary people could imagine or bear.

Qin Huanxi turned to look at Mo Siyuan, who was playing by himself nearby. As parents, one sometimes felt truly conflicted. On one hand, they didn’t want their child to bear too much pressure at such a young age, to not even have a happy childhood, spending all their time between classes, tutoring, and learning various skills.

But nowadays, all children were like this, especially those born into ordinary families. While you’re enjoying your childhood, other families’ children are working desperately hard. What happens when they grow up? Having good credentials and additional skills is far better than having nothing and knowing nothing.

Although Mo Siyuan’s starting line was much higher than other children’s, if he didn’t work hard enough, he would eventually be surpassed. Blind indulgence would only harm him, so Qin Huanxi would still teach Mo Siyuan what he needed to learn without any room for negotiation.

Qin Huanxi shook his head to dispel these chaotic thoughts, stood up and pulled Mo Shaoheng to his feet: “Help me pack first. After we’re done packing, we’ll go find Little Uncle.”

Mo Shaoheng stood up, embraced Qin Huanxi, and kissed his lips.

“Don’t, Xiao Yuan is watching,” Qin Huanxi pushed against Mo Shaoheng’s chest and turned to look at Mo Siyuan.

The little guy was covering his eyes with both hands, peeking through the gaps between his fingers, his little mouth almost stretched to his ears.

Qin Huanxi went over and flicked the little guy’s nose, pulling down his hands: “Alright, stop being silly. Come help Big brother Huanxi pack. After we’re done packing, we’ll go find Uncle Qin Yu and ask him to go to Germany with us tomorrow, okay?”

“Uncle Qin Yu is coming too? Great, great! Xiao Yuan likes Uncle Qin Yu,” Mo Siyuan was very happy, hugging Qin Huanxi’s legs and acting spoiled.

Before Mo Shaoheng came to find him with Mo Siyuan, Qin Huanxi had already packed some clothes. This trip to Germany would last a week, and he had prepared many things for Mo Siyuan to take along. Since it was the little guy’s first long trip, he needed to make extra preparations.

After packing, Qin Huanxi took Mo Shaoheng and Mo Siyuan to find Qin Yu. Since returning, Qin Yu had been staying in the guest house. Originally, Qin Huanxi wanted Qin Yu to live with him, but Qin Yu chose to stay in the guest house instead. The guest house was relatively far away, and Qin Yu preferred quieter surroundings where he didn’t need to encounter other people.

“Qin Yu, don’t get too pleased with yourself. Do you think that by finding Qin Huanxi as your backer, you can turn things around in the Qin mansion? I will never acknowledge you as a member of our Qin family, much less acknowledge you as my uncle. Don’t think I don’t know about the dirty things you do in private. If Grandpa knew your true nature, do you think he would still acknowledge you as his son?”

Just as Qin Huanxi walked out of the villa, he heard Qin Siyu’s angry, shrill shouting. He immediately frowned and quickly walked forward: “Qin Siyu, is this what the Qin family’s upbringing teaches you – to threaten others without restraint? A person has no right to choose their birth. You were born into a prestigious family – that’s heaven’s blessing, not capital for you to show off. There are plenty of people in this world who built their fortunes from nothing and made themselves into prestigious families through their own efforts. What right do you have to be arrogant? The upbringing of a prestigious family should teach you to cherish what you have, but your current words and actions won’t make people think you’re superior – they’ll only make others question the Qin family’s education.”

“Qin Huanxi, what right do you have to lecture others?” Qin Siyu was so angry her whole body trembled. Especially when she saw Mo Shaoheng holding Mo Siyuan, she felt even more ashamed and her hatred for Qin Huanxi reached its peak, wishing she could tear him apart.

Qin Huanxi chuckled softly: “Lecture? No, that’s Second Uncle and Second Aunt’s responsibility. Even though you’re a member of the Qin family, I’m only your cousin – I don’t have the obligation to educate you on how to be a person. But Little Uncle is an elder. When you insult an elder with your words, I can’t just stand by and watch, especially when you’re being disrespectful in front of guests. Where does that put the Qin family’s upbringing?”

Qin Huanxi didn’t give Qin Siyu a chance to retort and continued: “If you truly have such strong objections to Little Uncle’s birth, why don’t you go discuss it with Grandpa? Although Little Uncle can’t choose his birth, Grandpa could have.”

“Qin Huanxi, you…” Qin Siyu was truly rendered speechless with anger. Although that car accident hadn’t taken Qin Huanxi’s life, it had completely taken away his former silence. This eloquent Qin Huanxi was no longer the genius who could be manipulated at will.

Qin Huanxi glanced at Mo Shaoheng, who was suppressing his laughter, and narrowed his eyes: “Did I say something wrong?”

“No, you spoke very reasonably,” Mo Shaoheng cleared his throat lightly.

As soon as Mo Shaoheng finished speaking, Mo Siyuan also nodded his little head vigorously: “Everything Big brother Huanxi says is right.”

Qin Huanxi was amused and pinched Mo Siyuan’s face: “Little imp, you’ve probably learned bad habits from your dad.”

Mo Siyuan held his face and rubbed it. Big brother Huanxi looked scary when angry – he must never make Big brother Huanxi angry in the future. But that fierce big sister was bullying Uncle Qin Yu, which was even more unforgivable. Big brother Huanxi taught her well, so everything Big brother Huanxi said was right.

“Little Uncle, I actually had something to discuss with you. Let’s go to my place to talk,” Qin Huanxi ignored Qin Siyu and turned to Qin Yu.

Qin Yu smiled and nodded. Actually, he hadn’t taken Qin Siyu’s attitude to heart – after all these years, he had long gotten used to it.

“Young Master…” At this moment, the butler hurried over. Seeing so many people there, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes, but his expression remained unchanged as he said, “Young Master, the Master requests that you come to the main courtyard. For the day after tomorrow’s concert, the Master has something to give you. This item is extremely precious, so you must go there personally, Young Master.”

Qin Huanxi narrowed his eyes slightly, already understanding somewhat in his heart, and nodded: “I’ll go right away.”

Qin Siyu stood in place watching the group walk away, her hanging hands clenched into fists, the hatred in her eyes gradually deepening. The extremely precious item the butler mentioned – she didn’t need to guess what it was. Was Grandpa really going to give the black diamond to Qin Huanxi?
