Chapter 15.2

Editor: Jodi

The new house was located in an expensive villa area, home to many celebrities and wealthy individuals.

Their parents had prepared a two-story detached villa for them, and although it wasn’t a mansion in terms of size, it was more than enough for the two of them.

But now, Mu Nan had no interest in observing the house. His attention was entirely focused on the large boxes piled up at the door.

Movers were bustling in and out, unpacking the boxes and trying to arrange things as they had been in their original homes.

Hurrying over, Mu Nan opened one of the boxes, and saw that the items inside had been carefully organized and packed neatly. However despite the obvious care that had been taken with the items, this did nothing to improve his mood.

Suddenly, his gaze stopped. Then squatting down, he began rummaging through the box, messing up the orderly arrangement.

Finally, he pulled a broken ceramic piece out from the bottom of the box. It was earth-gray and rough, not particularly well-crafted.

However Mu Nan stared at the shard for a second, then, like a madman, he dumped all the contents of the box onto the floor. At the bottom lay a pair of broken ceramic rabbits.

He picked the rabbits from the box, and in his haste, the broken shard cut his fingertip, and beads of blood started to ooze out.

The cut on his finger hurt, however the shattered rabbits hurt even more.

He sat on the floor, unable to hold his tears back any longer as he buried his face in his crossed arms and cried like a child.

He had never felt so wronged before. It was as if no matter how hard he tried, he could never gain recognition or respect. The things he cherished and cared about were always insignificant and trivial in others’ eyes.

“Was it something precious?” Cheng Han crouched down in front of him, placing his broad hand on his shoulder.

Cheng Han’s hand was warm, and even through his clothes, Mu Nan felt a trace of comfort. He sniffled, “I made it myself. It’s been on my bedside for many years.”

Cheng Han didn’t say anything, he only squeezed his thin shoulder a bit tighter.

The value of an item laid not in its monetary worth, but in the emotions attached to it. A pair of intact clay rabbits wouldn’t have tugged at Mu Nan’s heartstrings, but a broken pair would.

The workers coming and going were very curious about the big star who was squatting at the door crying, however they didn’t pry. They only cast curious glances as they passed by.

Mu Nan cried for a while, then suddenly felt that it was pointless. The emotional floodgates had opened, and now that the emotions had poured out, they were simply gone.

He stuffed the broken clay rabbits into his pocket then stood up to leave.

“Where are you going?” Cheng Han asked as he caught up with him.

“I’m just taking a walk.” Mu Nan replied without looking back.

Cheng Han didn’t stop him. Instead, he borrowed a jacket from one of the movers and followed behind him quietly.

Mu Nan still retained a bit of rationality. He only wandered around the well-secured neighborhood for a while before quietly returning.

And taking a shortcut, Cheng Han made it back home before Mu Nan did. When Mu Nan entered, he went straight to the bedroom on the second floor, not caring which room he stayed in.

The room had already been set up, just like his at home. The only difference was that there was an additional en suite bathroom. He took a shower, trying to wash away his exhaustion and irritability.

The bed had been made with his own bedding from home. He threw himself onto it, and the familiar scent finally gave him a sense of being home.

He fell asleep immediately and didn’t wake up until the next morning.

**

Mu Nan was awakened by the sound of voices the next morning. It took him ten minutes to fully wake up, and only then did he realize that from now on, there would be another person in the house, and that he would no longer be living alone.

Thinking about this made his morning mood even worse, and with puffy eyes from crying the day before and messy hair, he stormed out of his room.

He intended to tell Cheng Han not to make noise while he was sleeping. However when he reached the stairs, he saw three people in the corner of the living room: Cheng Han’s agent, Ai Jia, and a housekeeper.

All three of them were bent over, giggling, with Cheng Han standing on the side watching them, and hearing that Mu Nan had gotten up, he looked up.

“You’re awake?”

“What’s going on here?” Mu Nan asked, rubbing his eyes.

Walking over, Cheng Han pulled a cage out from the group of people. Inside were two fluffy creatures.

He carried the cage over to Mu Nan. Inside, two fluffy balls lay quietly, one gray and one white. They were each about the size of a palm, their ears drooping beside their bodies, huddled together in fear because of the unfamiliar environment, presenting Mu Nan with a pair of round, plump bottoms.

They were two tiny Holland Lop bunnies.

“These are…”

Cheng Han opened the cage door and
lifted them out, one in each hand. Mu Nan took one from him quickly.

“To make up for your broken rabbits. Don’t be sad.”

The gray lop-eared rabbit timely stuck out its pink tongue and licked Mu Nan’s palm.

Mu Nan: I… seem to feel better now.
