Chapter 44.2

Editor: Jodi

Zheng Qiuyi was standing at the door with Zheng Xue, her eyes lighting up with joy when she saw him.

Tang Zhou stopped in front of them, his face cold. “What are you doing here?”

Zheng Xue glanced at him timidly, sneaked a peek at Fu Shen, then handed over a box she was holding. “Big— big brother, we made a cake for you.”

The little girl’s round face and eyes were very cute, and her gaze as she looked at Tang Zhou was filled with admiration and awe.

Zheng Qiuyi said nothing, only looking at him with tears in her eyes.

Tang Zhou asked, “Weren’t you supposed to go abroad?”

Zheng Qiuyi forced a smile, “We’ve booked a flight for the day after tomorrow.”

She knew her son didn’t want to see her, but she still couldn’t resist coming.

Tang Zhou had been softened by love recently, besides, his birthday was also Zheng Qiuyi’s labor day.

Even if she hadn’t raised him, she had given birth to him.

And thinking about the pain she had endured to bring him into the world, he couldn’t really be cold towards her.

So he reached out and took the cake. “Thank you.”

Zheng Xue beamed with joy, and Zheng Qiuyi also smiled, unable to hold back her words. “Can we have dinner together tomorrow?”

Tang Zhou: “…” Why was everyone asking him to have dinner with them?

His expression remained calm, but his words were sharp. “All these years, only he has cooked for me.”

Tang Zhou held Fu Shen’s hand, his gaze steady. “Tomorrow, I want to spend it with him.”

Other than here, nowhere else felt like home.

Zheng Qiuyi was silent for a moment, then said something unexpected, “If you two get married, will you let me know?”

Married?

Tang Zhou froze. He hadn’t considered this before. He had thought that living together meant they were together.

But the expression on his face didn’t change as he replied, “Sure.”

In the end, Zheng Qiuyi and Zheng Xue didn’t manage to enter the house, and as they left, they looked back at Tang Zhou several times, reluctant to leave.

If it had been in the past, Tang Zhou might have still longed for family affection, but now, with Fu Shen around, someone who loved him, that longing had vanished.

He neither hated nor loved.

**

Inside, their hands remained intertwined.

Tang Zhou scratched Fu Shen’s palm. “Lu Ye and Qiao Yuan might come tomorrow, so how about we eat out?”

Fu Shen however asked, “Have you celebrated your birthday before?”

“I remember celebrating it when I was ten and eighteen.”

Fu Shen led him to sit on the sofa, his expression gentle. “How did you celebrate it?”

“Many people came to the house.” Tang Zhou didn’t want to remember past events. He disliked those gatherings that were filled with scheming and hidden agendas.

“Since Lu Ye and the others are coming, why not invite more people?” Fu Shen suggested.

Tang Zhou raised an eyebrow. “You mean Pi Xiu and the others?”

“Yes. I don’t have class tomorrow afternoon, so I’ll pick you up after work.”

Tang Zhou pecked his lips, his smile soft and sweet. “Alright.”

Fu Shen cupped the back of his neck, deepening the kiss.

*

After dinner, Fu Shen suggested in an unusual manner, “Do you want to play games tonight?”

Tang Zhou was surprised. “You’re not working tonight?”

Fu Shen smiled, “I want to relax a bit.”

“Let’s play.”

Tang Zhou hadn’t played games in a long time, and his little healer was still pitifully not at full level.

After they finished washing up, they logged into the game from their respective rooms.

Jianghu’s F God led Little Sweet Porridge through leveling and monster fighting, dazzling the onlookers once again.

“It’s been so long since they were online, I thought they’d broken up.”

“Who would’ve thought this story had more chapters?”

“Where’s F God? Give us the coordinates!”

Tang Zhou never paid attention to the world forums, so he didn’t know that he and Fu Shen were being watched closely and discussed.

His little healer hopped along happily with the Black Clothed Knight, losing track of time as they played.

*

Fu Shen glanced at the clock, then sent a message in their chat group.

Fu Shen: Are you guys ready?

[Pi Xiu]: Shen Ge, don’t worry, we won’t let you down!

[Li Fengyu]: Ahhh, I can’t wait for midnight!

Tang Zhou excitedly finished off a wave of monsters when the Black Clothed Knight spoke to him.

[FS]: Let me take you somewhere.

Then the knight summoned a majestic steed, took the little healer’s hand, and they leapt onto the horse’s back. The knight held the healer tightly and spurred the horse forward.

[FS]: Aren’t you curious where we’re going?

Sweet Porridge: Wherever you take me, I’ll go.

Fu Shen’s lips curled into a smile. So sweet.

The horse galloped to a secluded valley filled with Star Grass, and from a distance, it looked like the Milky Way was reflected in the valley, stars scattered like a sea.

The game’s graphics were exquisite, and the little healer, finding himself in the midst of it, was overwhelmed by the beauty.

[FS]: It’s almost midnight.

[FS]: Look up.

Tang Zhou adjusted the little healer’s perspective.

And the moment the clock struck midnight, a massive firework burst across the screen of the laptop, and before he could react, the entire valley was ablaze with a stunning display of fireworks.

Amid this breathtaking spectacle, the Black Clothed Knight pulled the little healer into his arms.

[FS]: Baby, happy birthday.

Tang Zhou sat dazed in his chair until there was a knock on the door.

He turned around.

Fu Shen was standing there, holding a brown cat doll, smiling gently. “I found a companion for Xiao Bai.”

Tang Zhou stared at him, not saying a word.

Fu Shen took a few steps forward, glancing at the screen where fireworks continued to explode joyfully. “Fireworks are banned in the city, so I could only do this in the game—”

His words were cut off by a soft, cool kiss that ignited a fire in his heart.

Fu Shen hugged him back tightly, taking control.
