Chapter 142.1 It’s because of him

“What do you want to do?” Sheng Heng shifted, creating some distance between him and Ye Chen.

“Don’t be nervous.” Ye Chen smiled as he picked his favorite food from the buffet calmly. “I’m really just here on a vacation.”

“If you’re just here on a vacation, then you won’t need to follow me back to Capital Star Planet, and you definitely wouldn’t need to reveal your identity to me.” Sheng Heng quickly calmed down after a brief moment of tension. They were both on a spaceship headed to Capital Star Planet, hence Ye Chen wouldn’t be able to do much. Moreover, as far as he knew, the Phantom Dream Legion didn’t raid civilian spaceships, as they mainly targeted the Federation’s transport warships.

“I do have a reason for looking for you.” Ye Chen admitted openly. He had revealed his identity precisely for the upcoming conversation.

The doubts in Sheng Heng’s eyes increased. He couldn’t understand why Ye Chen would come to look for him, especially in his capacity as the strategist for the Phantom Dream Legion.

“Has your War God Legion recently developed a new type of weapon specifically for hunting low-level zergs?” Ye Chen asked.

“You’ve planted spies in our legion?”

“What’s so difficult about that? Every year the War God Legion recruits new soldiers, and it’s not just your legion, the other two major legions also have our spies planted in them. Because of you guys, I went to great lengths, using the best mech warriors from our Phantom Dream Legion.” Ye Chen said shamelessly.

“…” Sheng Heng.

Although Sheng Heng was speechless, he knew that what Ye Chen had just said had some truth to it. For legions to maintain their combat strength, they had to continually recruit new soldiers, so the presence of spies from other legions wasn’t uncommon. What’s more within legions, powerful warriors were always valued highly and promoted.

“It was Yan Hao who designed this weapon right?” Ye Chen asked again.

Sheng Heng’s sharp gaze shot out like a chilling light, his whole body looking like a poised lion ready to pounce, willing to strike without hesitation if there was even the slightest movement from his prey.

“Don’t look at me like that, I’ll get scared.” However although Ye Chen said this, his expression didn’t show much fear. “If I wanted to do something to Yan Hao, I could have just not showed up in the hospital and let his mental energy run riot, causing him to die.”

“The issue of the weapon is confined within the War God Legion, and not more than five people know about it. And these five individuals can’t be traitors.”

“Are you so sure?” Ye Chen asked in return.

Sheng Heng looked at him coldly, not saying a word, but there was no doubt in his eyes. Among these five people, one was his father, two were he and his big brother, and the other two were his father’s close companions, one of whom was the head of the Mech Building Department, and the other was an uncle who had risked his life alongside his father and saved him more than once. So, these two individuals were unquestionably trustworthy.

“Alright, I figured out the Yan Hao situation on my own.” Ye Chen told him, “A few months ago, the video of you single-handedly killing the level 9 zerg with a mimetic mech went viral across the Federation, causing you to become the number one soft rice eater in the entire Federation.”

Sheng Heng’s lips twitched.

“So, I became very curious about the person who could make the War God Legion’s Second Young Master become the number one soft rice eater, and this curiosity led me to dig a bit deeper. Just recently, Yan Hao was getting his Mech Building Evaluation Certificate from the Federation’s Mech Association, and his Instructing Master was none other than Old Pang, Pang Tianhe. Old Pang is a renowned figure, just like Old Zhong, and his expertise lies in weapon design. What’s even more interesting is that a few days after you returned to the War God Legion’s headquarters, a new weapon surfaced within the legion, so when I connect the dots, it seems quite reasonable.”

Sheng Heng couldn’t argue with that. Could it be that he wanted him to blame his little junior for being too dazzling?

“What exactly do you want?” Sheng Heng asked him.

“I want that batch of new weapons.” Ye Chen replied.

“Impossible!” Sheng Heng rejected without a second thought. Those were weapons, and Ye Chen was an interstellar pirate. What’s more the War God Legion was part of the Federation’s regular military. What would it mean if they sold the weapons to interstellar pirates?

“Before you get all worked up, listen to what I have to say first.” Ye Chen was about to speak when more passengers came in to get food, so he stopped, looked around, then pointed to a spot in the corner and said, “Let’s go over there to talk.”
