Chapter 144.2 Advanced Mimetic Mech
Editor: Jodi
Old Zhong didn’t dismiss Yan Hao’s idea immediately because he knew that with Yan Hao’s talent, he wouldn’t design it this way without a reason.
“I got the inspiration from the Pulse Magnetic Chip.”
“The Pulse magnetic chip?” While the pulse magnetic chip was designed by Old Pang, Old Zhong had a rough idea of its principles. The internal circuitry of the pulse magnetic chip was quite complex and far from streamlined.
“Actually, it’s not from the pulse magnetic chip itself, but from the process when I repaired it this time.” Yan Hao explained carefully. “Master, you also know that there wasn’t enough time at that time, and that I couldn’t make a completely new pulse magnetic chip, nor could I connect the billions of electronic components using the conventional method, hence in the end, I could only take the risk and use mental energy.”
Grasping the idea immediately, Old Zhong’s eyes lit up, “You want to use mental energy connections to replace traditional wiring?”
“En.” Yan Hao nodded heavily. “Master, do you think my idea is feasible?”
Was it feasible? Feasible or not,Old Zhong couldn’t provide an answer immediately, however Yan Hao’s idea was really too bold, so bold that it left him a bit jittery. The biggest reason why the mimetic system couldn’t be upgraded was because the mech’s response speed couldn’t keep up with the human’s instinctive reaction, and this was due to both system and energy transfer limitations.
However Yan Hao’s idea was to use mental energy to replace traditional wiring, which would achieve the fastest possible mech response speed, and if this concept were to succeed, mimetic mechs could at least advance by one level, or maybe even two levels.
“A large part of the reason why you were able to use mental energy to connect the pulse magnetic chip successfully was because of luck.” After the initial excitement, Old Zhong calmed down quickly. “First, using mental energy to replace traditional wiring for energy transfer can significantly boost mech response speed, however it consumes an immense amount of mental energy, and mech warriors need to engage in continuous combat. They aren’t like Tianhe One that can fire a single shot and then be done. Second, in order to use mental energy to replace traditional wiring, a mech warrior’s mental energy must be at a certain level, at the very least, it must be at the A level, or even A+, so it’s simply impossible for ordinary people to pilot this kind of mech.”
“I have thought about this point as well, but Master, even our current level nine and higher traditional mechs require mech warriors to have A-level or higher mental energy. If my concept works, we can have advanced mimetic mechs.” Yan Hao told him.
Advanced mimetic mechs had been Old Zhong’s dream for a long time.
Of course, it would be even better if mimetic mechs could be widespread, but after so many years of researching mimetic mechs, Old Zhong realized that widespread adoption of mimetic mechs was nearly impossible, at least not with the current mech building technology. So it became his dream to create an advanced mimetic mech, and over the years, he had been improving traditional systems and researching mimetic systems in the hopes that one day, he would be able to create a mimetic mech.
The combat power of mimetic mechs were significantly higher than that of traditional mechs as their levels increased, and according to his calculations and estimates, the combat power of a level eight mimetic mech would be on par with that of current traditional level ten mechs, so if there were level nine or even level ten mimetic mechs, they might even be able to contend with that of current star level weapons.
The Zerg Emperor was the most formidable force of the zergs, and the only time in history when the Federation and the Zerg Emperor fought was several hundred years ago, when five level ten mechs were deployed in full strength, and over the years, even though the Federation’s weapons against the zergs had become more and more powerful, there was still no weapon that was capable of countering the Zerg Emperor. Old Pang’s Tianhe One warships were the closest thing to a weapon capable of facing it, however those warships were less agile than mechs and required a one-minute charge before firing, while the Zerg Emperor was so agile that it could appear anywhere on the battlefield in an instant.
Moreover, in all these years, even ordinary high level zergs had evolved to possess mental attacks, making it practically impossible to imagine how far the Zerg Emperor had evolved. What’s more the Federation’s level ten mech warriors were pitifully small.
Hence, if there could be a level ten mimetic mech, then it would mean that the Federation had a force that could rival the Zerg Emperor, even if there was only one such mech. The value of such a creation was beyond estimation.
“According to your concept, what level of achievement can mimetic mechs reach?” Old Zhong’s voice quivered with excitement.
“I made some upgrades to the level six mimetic system last semester, and if it goes smoothly, I can enhance the current level six system by another level. I’m not sure it will reach level seven, but it will definitely be better than it is now, and if we add mental energy conduction to it, I think it won’t be a problem for mimetic mechs to reach advanced level eight or even level nine.”
“Moreover, if we replace mech wiring circuit with mental energy conduction, the strength of a mech warrior’s mental energy, as well as their control, will have a double impact on the mimetic mech and if it’s someone like Senior with innate S-level mental energy, I think getting close to a level ten is entirely possible.” Yan Hao shared his speculations.
“Getting close to a level ten?!” Old Zhong looked at him in a daze, then lowering his head to look at the design drawing in his hand, his breathing became heavier and heavier, then in the end, hitting the table, he roared, “Let’s go, call Old Pang and let’s research this together.”
He dragged Yan Hao into the lab, selectively forgetting that he had told him to rest well and pulled him into the lab, where he even called Old Pang himself, commencing their research session which lasted three days and nights.
While Yan Hao was working diligently on the research of the new mimetic mech, Sheng Heng, on the other hand returned to the base of the War God Legion without incident, and the moment he landed, without even bothering to report to the formation he was assigned to, or go back to his dorm to shower, he went to General Admiral Sheng’s office immediately, then the two of them had a two-hour conversation in the office, and the moment Sheng Heng left, General Admiral Sheng announced the convening of a high level Legion meeting, forcefully recalling all high-ranking officers who were on external missions. Some of the officers who really couldn’t make it back in person also participated in the meeting remotely.
The meeting lasted for an entire afternoon. The entire Legion knew that there was a high-level meeting taking place, however none of them had a clue about what was being discussed, causing the spies placed in the Legion from other Legions extremely anxious. It wasn’t until three days later that three warships bearing the symbol of Interstellar Pirates landed slowly on Planet Z36.
