Chapter 147.2 Ore
Editor: Jodi
Time passed, another week went by, and Sheng Heng finally returned to school from the front lines, his military rank having risen again, now a captain. He was originally not supposed to be promoted so quickly, however because he had facilitated the joining of the Phantom Dream Legion and because of Haoyue, the senior management of the War God Legion collectively decided to award him with a military merit. General Admiral Sheng tried to stop it, but wasn’t successful. The Lieutenant General in charge of Sheng Heng’s unit decided on the promotion himself, then informed him afterwards, making him not know whether to laugh or cry. It wasn’t that he was intentionally suppressing his son, but that he didn’t want him to rise too fast, hoping to temper his character at the grassroots level.
The moment Yan Hao found out that Sheng Heng had returned, the first thing he did was to ask for Black Soul, because during the vacation, he and Old Zhong had upgraded Black Soul’s already existing system to another level.
After the system upgrade, Sheng Heng went for a test drive and clearly felt Black Soul’s transformation, and a feeling even arose in his heart that if Xiao Hao continued upgrading Black Soul at this rate, wouldn’t it be that Black Soul could soon become a level 8, or even a level 9 mimetic mech? As for level 10, he didn’t dare think about it.
“Senior, rest for a while, I’ll adjust Obscure Darkness’s current data.” Yan Hao told Sheng Heng.
“Why, is there something wrong with Obscure Darkness’s attack value?” Obscure Darkness was Black Soul’s melee weapon, so Yan Hao suddenly wanting to adjust its data definitely meant that something had gone wrong when he was test driving it just now.
“It’s not that there’s something wrong with it, but that Obscure Darkness needs an upgrade. Its current attack power can’t keep up with Black Soul’s current level.” Yan Hao explained.
Sheng Heng nodded in understanding. Mimetic mechs were inherently more powerful than traditional ones, and Obscure Darkness, being a weapon of traditional form, was indeed falling behind.
“Right, Senior, when are you going back to the front lines? If it’s soon, I’ll find a replacement weapon for you first.” Upgrading Obscure Darkness would take quite a bit of time.
“There’s no rush, I’ll be in school for the most part this semester.” Sheng Heng told him.
Yan Hao froze, then turned to look at him, undisguised joy in his eyes.
“I only hope that Master Yan can spare some time to have dinner with his boyfriend. Is that possible?” Sheng Heng smiled faintly.
“Granted.” Yan Hao laughed, then turned around and climbed into the cockpit, his back showing his eagerness.
Sheng Heng didn’t disturb him, and retreating to the side, waited quietly. However after a while, he was a bit bored, and so started to project his mental energy, practicing his daily routine of mental energy attacks. Ever since the last time he accidentally used his mental energy to kill a level 9 zerg, he had started to consciously project his mental energy in battles, and the moment he detected an entry point into a zerg’s mental energy, he would attack without hesitation, and using this method, had killed a lot of high level zergs in battles over the past year, causing him to repeatedly earn numerous military achievements, which was one of the reasons for his rapid promotion in rank.
He spread his mental energy in a fan shape, covering everything in the lab from near to far, until……
“Huh?” He looked in surprise at the piece of black ore on the workbench. His mental energy seemed to have been absorbed by it just now.
Walking over, he picked the black ore up and scrutinized it for a while. He couldn’t recognize what kind of ore it was, but he faintly felt a bit of his own mental energy fluctuation from within it.
“Senior, what are you looking at?” Yan Hao, having finished collecting the data at some point, was walking towards him.
“Nothing, I just found a piece of stone with consciousness. You’re done collecting the data?” Sheng Heng said as he put the ore back on the workbench.
“This is a special ore that Master gave me.” Yan Hao told him.
“Because it absorbs mental energy?” Sheng Heng asked.
“En, unfortunately, this ore is very rare, and Master also bought it by accident.” Yan Hao told him.
After finalizing the design plan for the advanced mimetic mech, Yan Hao, Old Zhong, and Old Pang began to make preparations, of which the two types of ore mentioned by Old Pang were the most important. Unfortunately, those ores had been obtained by chance in the past, and Old Pang didn’t know where to find them, so now, they could only take the samples and ask around. Unfortunately, more than a month had passed without any leads.
“Do you need a lot of this kind of ore?” Sheng Heng asked.
Yan Hao nodded: “Master and I designed a new mimetic mech that requires a large amount of this ore.”
“I think I’ve seen this kind of ore before.” Sheng Heng thought about it for a moment, and although he wasn’t entirely sure, he still said it anyway.
“Senior, you’ve seen it?!” Yan Hao grabbed Sheng Heng’s sleeve anxiously.
“Do you still remember what happened before I went to the Resource Star Planet?” Sheng Heng explained, “I promised to find you a rare ore, and after arriving at the Resource Star Planet, I used my mental energy to survey all the veins on the east side of the planet, and there was one place that gave me a feeling that’s very similar to this ore. The ore underground there also absorbed my mental energy, but not as strongly as this piece, so I can’t be one hundred percent sure.”
“It doesn’t matter, let’s go and dig it up.” Yan Hao already couldn’t wait.
“Okay.” Not being able to bring back a rare ore from the Resource Star Planet had always made Sheng Heng feel that he owed Yan Hao something, so now that he finally had the chance to make up for it, how could he not be willing?
